  1. I agree. I had a fantastic time! And with the mud, it made things just a little bit interesting with my "racing" tires... Fantastic route, fantastic markers and we only got slow traffic in the last 1km! Well done Burger! I had a blast!
  2. If I go MTB before work, I try to do 40km. Road about 50km... Weekends 3-4 hours... Mostly Jonkers...
  3. I ride almost every morning... BUT EARLY!!! Try to start at 5am-ish for 2 hours. One ride in the weekend of 3-4 hours... Lemme know...
  4. Get an Anthem. You will never worry about your rear shock lockout or settings again!!! I've never needed to lockout my shock ever! But like some other hubbers said, make sure your pressure is set up correctly. I am personally not a big fan of the 3 (descent, trail or climb) setting shocks... Rather sort your pressure out.
  5. Congrats dude!!! Special bike that. I just have the black and red version with the Rockshox suspension. I ride mine HARD, and it hasn't failed me yet. 4000km later.
  6. I had the same choice about 6 months ago... Went with the Giant Anthem Advanced 29er. Will make the same choice if I had to.
  7. I do... When it's not raining... I do a mix of MTB and Road. If you want bigger "groups", then the Wannabees can also work for you. http://wannabteam.com/ I prefer training on my own or in smaller groups (2-3).
  8. PM me for details... I might be able to help.
  9. My 2c... I'm no expert, but have done Comrades a couple of times and have had all the over-use injuries you can possibly have in my legs. Long story short, after 3 years of trying to find the perfect shoes (including Vibrams), pronation, anti-pronation, netral, supination, etc blah blah blah... Took some advise from a runner physio, and started strengthening my legs and specifically the muscles that caused my injuries... 6 months later, I was able to run my best marathon ever in very neutral, low cushioned shoes... Those R400 specials people talk about... The comments above that someone said, what works for someone does not necessarily work for someone else is 100% true... BUT! Concentrate on strengthening your alignment and running muscles, the you can barefoot too!!! Don't worry about fore-foot backfoot running... You run like you run... You will find that the faster you run, the more forefoot you will run anyway! Don't train to run forefoot... You will cause more damage than good! I can run 40km in my Five Fingers with no issues at all... Mine have got about 2500km on them and still about 50% tread left!
  10. Me and my partners at Sani have used it for 3 years now... Best tyres I've ever used (including Racing Ralphs). And at R420, best value for money at the moment... I destroyed my Racing Ralphs in less than 2 months... Fastrack back lasts me 6 months and Ground Control front more than a year.
  11. 100% go for it. Great service, good value.
  12. Not if you're bike has proper suspension and set up correctly. This topic has been discussed endlessly on the Hub. HT if you're a podium chaser. Otherwise dually. Give these okes a tinkle... https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/78059-trigon-hardtail-mtb-s-new-103-kgs/
  13. If it was my 30k and I was looking for a HT, then I would take this one: http://www.vbike.co.za/giant-xtc-composite-29er-1-2014/ and spend a couple of extra $$$ to upgrade my wheelset...

  15. For 30k you can probably get a Giant XtC 29er? I bought a Anthem Advanced 29er for little over that, dually though. But I guess if you shop around a good Scott, Giant, Momsen etc with full XT or X9/X0 groupo's with ZTR wheels, Fox / Reba/SID fork for around that? That is what I would have wanted at least for 30k in HT 29er arena. If you want to pay a little more just to have the "right" name on your decals, you'll probably looking at a aluminium Stumpy with X7/X9. In terms of size, I would say you're probably between a Large and XL, depending on your riding style etc. I'm 1.85 and fit a 56cm road bike and Large Giant MTB comfortably.
  16. You and your partner are going to have a lot of "fun"!
  17. Please guys. This is not what he asked. The Storm is a 25k bike, and his budget is 8k. Sorry to sound a bit full of ****, but I shake my head when someone asks for advice on a bike with a X budget and you advise them on a bike 3 x X. This is what he asked for (shot JohanPre44): If it was my 8k Jonno, I would buy the Silverback.
  18. To the OP, what about cyclo-cross riders... They will not clasify themselves as MTBers, but I can assure you they probably have a very special skill-set on a bike.
  19. Blah blah blah http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-39GdoSbhets/T7p5NjhqV7I/AAAAAAAACz0/UoP14iRJ0X4/s1600/yawn2.jpg

    Argus 2014

Think I'm taking my 29er anyway next year. This year was not fun for me. Mechanicals, crashes, etc. At least I have proper brakes on my 29er, and can bunny hop the sidewalk.
  22. Yep, what do you want?
  23. Terrible colour, wanna swap it for my black and red ride?
