  1. Slowbee. I went to the shimano website there is no M775 Crankset. There is a 770 and 771-K. The 770 is the one freely available. The only difference between the two is that the 771 is heavier, has an aluminum Middle ring not steel, and is compatible with a chain guard. I hope this helps
  2. Hi Slowbee. I see CWC cycles have the XT crankset on special for R1699. I think it is a no brainer. I am very happy with my XT crankset
  3. The bike looks much nicer with the white wheels. Did you get them from Kiwi?
  4. Busch1: Due to 94.7 perpI have only been out for a short 20k ride, but it feels much faster than my old SS 26er and the ride is more comfortable with the big wheels: Daemon: Johan Bornman got the rims from the local distibutors. There was only about a R 50 price difference per rim compared to CRC. I did not get a price on the ZTR hubs but I am sure they would have been way above my budget. Maybe when I build up my geared racing hardtail.....
  5. "Nooit sou ek toe ek in std 1 was gedink het ek sal mense se gatte moet lek om my geld te vat nie maar nou ja dis seker die *** ekonomie wat hulle sulke confidence gee" Die probleem is Chuck hulle reeds jou vrou se geld gevat so hulle het klaar hulle wins gemaak
  6. Thanks Stephan This is my second SS with a rigid fork. I am so used to a rigid fork by now that I ride with my hardtail MTB's suspension fork on lockout most of the time. Regarding the handle bar it is the same setup as on my hardtail.
  7. Thanks Shamus. I have ordered the green Candy SL's. THey will work perfectly with my Green Scadal 29er SS. (PS. Are the cleats exactly the same for Candys and Eggbeaters?)SteveS2009-11-14 02:26:12
  8. Goldmember. That would make the Candys ideal for the SS, considering all the standing being done.
  9. Thug I went to the eggbeater website, there are rebuild kits for the Candy. I think the Smarties could not be rebuilt. Maybe Shamus can give us the low down.
  10. It is going to be your cheapest option. I am no technical guru but some of the issues are? 1. Do the bikes have the same brakes (v-brakes or disc brakes). If the Trek has disc brakes you could have problems if the Giant does not have disc brake mounts 2. The dimension of the seatpost may be different i.e 27.2mm vs 31.6 mm meaning that you would need a new seatpost and clamp. 3. Seeing that the Trek is an 21" (extra large the length of the Crank could be a problem in the long term depending on your wifes height. I would'nt worry about that in the short term. 4. The steerer tube of the shock will most likely have to cut going from a 21" to a smaller frame. These are a few things that I can think of. SteveS2009-11-12 14:14:36
  11. It was done by Eagle canyon cycles, but I was there when they did it. If you look at the second photo (close up of brake) you can just loosen those allen bolts and move the caliper to line up.
  12. The secret is the No tubes rims that only weigh 0.41kg and can be converted to tubeless by just using Stans yellow spoke tape that weighs 5gram per wheel. If you use Shimano XTR hubs with the same configuration that I currently have you can get the wheels down to 1.65kg
  13. No Tubes ZTR355. The wheels weigh 1.8kg with valves and rim tape
  14. Thug, I decided on Shimano SLX hubs. They are really good value for money and actually lighter than XT hubs.
  15. Thanks Goldmember. The handling is much better than I anticpated. It definately rolls better than a 26" and climbing is easier because you don't lose as much momentum when going over obstacles.
  16. Hi Noche For a few reasons: 1. Mostly ride the Braamfontein Spruit with it so no real need for a front shock 2. The 2.25 29er wheels at 1.8 bar give quite a bit of suspension. 3. Single speed = alot of standing when going up hills and therefore with a suspension fork you tend to bob alot. 4. The cost. It is only R2000 versus R 6000 for a good quality suspension fork. 5. The weight. It only weighs 0.85Kg 6. And yes it looks cool
  17. Hi here is my new On One Scandal 29er Single speed in British racing green. Check out the Back disc brake setup! Another Angle Took it for a ride Yesterday and the ride is awsome. For the weight weenies the bike weighs 9.6 Kg. My favourite part is the custom wheels built up by Johan Bornman. I think these Scandal frames are awsome value for money.
  18. Hi I have been using my Eggbeaters C for about two years now and they are tired (have already done a seal / bearing replacment on them which only lasted six months). My question is how does the Candy's compare to eggbeaters. Shamus has some demo Candy SL's for R 800. Has anyone got experience with both types and which do you prefare? If I don't go for the demo Candys I will end up bying the Eggbeater SC. Thanks

    CRC Order

Mighty Spoke I have bought from CRC twice already and both times I collected the parcels without a slip.
  21. Hi Kiwi Any more info regarding the Carbon On One 29er? Is there any news regarding the arrival of the Scandal frames and forks?

    CRC Order

Hi Mighty Spoke Did you go to your post office to see if the goods are not there. My CRC order also said awaiting customs clearance but it was already at my post office. You do not really need any reference number they have book where all international parcels are written in, just look for your name. Seemingly the tracking of the parcel once in RSA does not keep up with the actual parcel. I hope it is there
  23. Is there anyone that has five stars?
  24. What does one have to do to get 5 stars if Holy has still only got four stars??
  25. Hi trevor In single speed terms there is definately a difference. Based on an excel chart that I got from Steel Niner, if for instance you are riding a 32 front and 17 rear on a 26" inch bike which would give a gearing of 48.94 you would need to ride with a 32 front and 19 rear to get the same gearing on a 29" bike. I think Eldron is correct. In theory it should only affect you in your easiest or most difficult gears.
