  1. Hi Kiwi Very nice. Cool pics. Are those American Classic wheels still on schedule for the end of the month? I see you got some Continental 29er Race Kings in stock. Please reserve me two for the AC wheels. THanks
  2. Wow thats a thing of beauty. That will surely drop the bike below 10kg
  3. Brianj My order is in the same batch as yours. At last, just hope it doesn't get stuck at customs as well!!

    29er Wheels

I am using custom yellow saddle built wheels consisting of ZTR 355 rims and Shimano SLX 29er specific hubs on my SS. At the end of January Cape Cycles and Planet X will have the new American Classic UST wheels in white. They will be good value for money. I have ordered a pair for my geared Scandal 29er. The XT's are good value but I have not seen them locally. You can get from CRC for about R4000.00 but the sell out like hot cakes. The big daddy of the 29er wheels are the Mavic C29ssmax wheels. They are available locally but they are going to be expensive (they cost almost R7000 on CRC) so locally the price is going to hurt.
  5. This must be one of the best looking Hardtails I have ever seen. This is an awsome machine. Where did you get the wheelset from?
  6. Hi I had the same issue. Apparently there is a glitch with their system. After e-mailing them they sent me a response with the correct parcel force trackinfg info. The Items were processed on the 30th and I am expecting my delivery in JHB on Friday
  7. What you can do is go to the item you want in CRC and if you have an account click on the "request stock alert" and they will e-mail you as soon as it becomes available
  8. Hi Rock. Nice set-up. I am also building up my second scandal 29er. This one will be geared and with suspension fork. Cape Cycles are getting the new white tubeless ready America Classic wheels in at the end of January with a suggested retail of R5300. Kiwi will also have them in stock then. Look out for the XT wheelsets on CRC they usually go for about R 3500 a pair ex Vat. But they sell like hot cakes, Why did you go for the RST fork and not the Rock shox Reba that Kiwi is selling?
  9. Hi Chris Will you be getting any of these in stock? Mavic C29ssmax Disc 6-Bolt Wheels 2010
  10. I have the ZTR 355 29er's. So far I am very happy with them.
  11. Did anyone wonder why they can afford to give R15000 back? Well here is the answer R977 x 60 = R59000 less R 11,005 = R47995. You do the math
  12. Little Ben is spoton. Just replace the XT dual with XT brake levers and X9 or X0 rear Derailleur and you are sorted http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=27805
  13. Hi Slowbee I am sure the Raceface includes a BB ? All 2008 Race Face XC cranksets feature our new 'EXI' interface external bottom bracket system for easier crank installation and removal with standard tools and fully adjustable chainline. But in any case. I don't believe that XT cranks are made just for lightweight riders (maybe XTR). XT cranks must be the most popular cranks on MTB's. Look at any race and it like every second person has one. I am sure if there were issues with their strength and durability it would have been posted on the hub already
  14. Hi Slowbee I see that CRC has a special on the Race face Deus XC 2009 models. You can get the black Race Face XC for R 1577 excl 15.4%, much better than R2800!
  15. Slowbee. I went to the shimano website there is no M775 Crankset. There is a 770 and 771-K. The 770 is the one freely available. The only difference between the two is that the 771 is heavier, has an aluminum Middle ring not steel, and is compatible with a chain guard. I hope this helps
  16. Hi Slowbee. I see CWC cycles have the XT crankset on special for R1699. I think it is a no brainer. I am very happy with my XT crankset
  17. The bike looks much nicer with the white wheels. Did you get them from Kiwi?
  18. Busch1: Due to 94.7 perpI have only been out for a short 20k ride, but it feels much faster than my old SS 26er and the ride is more comfortable with the big wheels: Daemon: Johan Bornman got the rims from the local distibutors. There was only about a R 50 price difference per rim compared to CRC. I did not get a price on the ZTR hubs but I am sure they would have been way above my budget. Maybe when I build up my geared racing hardtail.....
  19. "Nooit sou ek toe ek in std 1 was gedink het ek sal mense se gatte moet lek om my geld te vat nie maar nou ja dis seker die *** ekonomie wat hulle sulke confidence gee" Die probleem is Chuck hulle reeds jou vrou se geld gevat so hulle het klaar hulle wins gemaak
  20. Thanks Stephan This is my second SS with a rigid fork. I am so used to a rigid fork by now that I ride with my hardtail MTB's suspension fork on lockout most of the time. Regarding the handle bar it is the same setup as on my hardtail.
  21. Thanks Shamus. I have ordered the green Candy SL's. THey will work perfectly with my Green Scadal 29er SS. (PS. Are the cleats exactly the same for Candys and Eggbeaters?)SteveS2009-11-14 02:26:12
  22. Goldmember. That would make the Candys ideal for the SS, considering all the standing being done.
  23. Thug I went to the eggbeater website, there are rebuild kits for the Candy. I think the Smarties could not be rebuilt. Maybe Shamus can give us the low down.
  24. It is going to be your cheapest option. I am no technical guru but some of the issues are? 1. Do the bikes have the same brakes (v-brakes or disc brakes). If the Trek has disc brakes you could have problems if the Giant does not have disc brake mounts 2. The dimension of the seatpost may be different i.e 27.2mm vs 31.6 mm meaning that you would need a new seatpost and clamp. 3. Seeing that the Trek is an 21" (extra large the length of the Crank could be a problem in the long term depending on your wifes height. I would'nt worry about that in the short term. 4. The steerer tube of the shock will most likely have to cut going from a 21" to a smaller frame. These are a few things that I can think of. SteveS2009-11-12 14:14:36
  25. It was done by Eagle canyon cycles, but I was there when they did it. If you look at the second photo (close up of brake) you can just loosen those allen bolts and move the caliper to line up.
