  1. The Brooks swift below only weighs 370g. When my Planet X seat packs up, this is what i will be getting for my 29er single speed
  2. Old Timer Sorry for your loss. Your post has some valid points, but again people are blaming the cyclist in this instance for his own death. If you made some effort and read up on what exactly happend you will know that this cyclist did absolutely nothing wrong. See the quote below from the Beeld article: ?Ons voorlopige ondersoek wys ?n motor het die man van agter getref,? het Mokheseng ges?. ?Hy het helder en duidelik sigbare fietsryklere aangehad en het in die noodbaan gery toe hy getref is.? There are loads of other threads on the hub were you can go and slate some cyclists behaviour on the roads. This thread is not one of them.
  3. Do You guys pay per credit card at a supermarket? I think that is a credit card service charge. I now from experience if you pay more than R4000 by credit card they hit you with a fee.SteveS2010-03-20 10:43:38
  4. Do a site search using the forum only bar on the left, there are hundreds of threads about this topic, no need to start a new one.
  5. Eedubz. Yip. Just after you crossed over Barry Hertzog Ave riding North
  6. I went to Amrican Classic's website and it seems as though the wheels Kiwi has will be compaitble with either Quick release or 15mm through axle
  7. In your case it does not matter whether the wheels are centre lock or 6 bolt. If you buy new wheels all you should be worried about regarding the rotors is that the size of the rotors on the new wheels are the same as the size rotors on the old wheels. If you want to keep your existing rotors on your new wheels, you would have to have rims with Centre lock hubs on. If you are keen on American Classic wheels you would require new rotors. You issue is not the brakes / rotors but the axle and fork setup. It looks like form the techsheet that your bike is making use of 15mm through axles so you would need a front wheel that has a hub that is compatible with that format. I think I have heard that some forks can either run 15mm through axle or quick relaese but my knowledge of 15 and 20mm through axles are not good, maybe someone else can shed some light. 8. . That stretch is crazy. I must be honest we are skipping it on our rides. We saw a jogger see his ar@# there last week. Now that was funny.
  9. I Think in the Toyota Pruis manual they state that you are allowed to wear flip flops, so that they can blame you if the accelerator gets stuck
  10. Franky It is funny not a few hours ago somone also joined the hub and started the blame game on the cyclists attacking the poor victims (coinsidence?). Fortunately that that thread was taken of off by the mods. Please start your own thread if you want to slate a dead person for doing something wrong like riding a bicylce on a public road. I think your comments are insensitive and totally uncalled for. I think you should take a look at the photographs of the crime scene http://www.diehoorn.co.za/2010/03/08/swart-maandag-na-drie-fietsryers-sterf/#more-2175 and you tell me considering a cyclists right to ride 1.5m from the verge, where were these cyclists supposed to have gone when car served out from behind the truck. Whether they were riding single file or two abreast.
  11. I see Grant came 35th in the ultra marathon on a single speed 29er. That is awesome. Grant if you read this well done mate.
  12. I Love the seat. Is that a steel frame?
  13. Here it is in action
  14. Cat-i. Maybe list your bikes components in detail, and then the weight weenies can tell you where you can save and how much it would cost
  15. You can ride Crank Brother Candy's with tackies, but not Crank Brother Eggbeaters. I prefer Candy's / eggbeaters over Shimano
  16. You must speak to Steel Niner. He has played around with various combinations on his Single Speed
  17. I am running Geax Saguaro's 2.25 front and back. I have had no problems with them. They are not UST but I have converted them to tubeless. I run them at 1.9 in front and 2.1 at the back and have not had one failure.
  18. Nice one Rock. I am waiting for Kiwi's stock of white American Classice wheels to arrive before I post my black monster as well. Do you still have your SS or are you just going to use this for riding?
  19. So 20niner. Let me get this straight. When you change the frame, the only parts left from the orginal bike is the headset and fork. I hope the heaset says Giant XTC on it so that you can convince your wife its stil the same bike, just with a few upgrades on it.
  20. Hi Mutt. Also a good price, the ones that was advertised on the hub are the Carbon ones
  21. Dealer1 had some brand new Avid Elixir CR Carbon brakes for R2500. I am very happy with mine
  22. My Scandal 29er Single speed weighs about 9.7kg and my geared Scandal 29er with "Squishy fork" weighs about 11.4kg SteveS2010-01-26 03:28:46
  23. My LBS built me up a MTB from parts I gave him. When I picked the bike up on Friday, he said ride it over the weekend and then if anything is not right bring it back on Monday to be sorted out. I am sure the LBS will sort all the problems out without any hassles. If they give you attitude, well then they are no good.
  24. Colonel Your point would have merit if 5000+ guys rode the mx race and not 50
  25. Hi Kiwi I saw it on your website. How does it compare with Stans, Dr Sludge et al?
