  1. Similar to F1 where all the cars have them installed. I think the riders don't really have a choice. Is for TV coverage.
  2. You are so right Covie. I also remember the Jeron Swart discussion. As far as I know, after that incident he has never been back.
  3. Went there last Wednesday. Black route is a good workout and technical. Route is well marked up to about 18km then the markers just vansihed (unless we missed something) Ended going down past a storeroom and down to the tarred road and the rode back to the start along it (about 2kms).
  4. Did you guys see what there 2011 Epic bikes weighed? 8.3kgs!!
  5. Hi Blackfoot Welcome to the hub. Like you said last night, the fact that people are commenting about it is is a good thing. The more people that watches it the better.
  6. Hi Dangle I have been looking for a standard (non tapered) niner fork for some time now. Can you get hold of one for me and what would the cost be?
  7. https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/19891-merida-matts-tfs-100/
  8. T There was a link earlier to the Huffy that is being discussed. The bike in your link has way better components.
  9. Hi Ricky Bobby do you have any idea where this took place or have any more info re this attack?
  10. Speak to Kiwi for On One Carbon Rigid forks or to Dangle for Ritchey and Niner Carbon forks
  11. Hi Kiwi. Where is the link? Any indication on the price of the carbon fork?
  12. I know of a fellow hubber who went to Cajees this week to buy a 26" Maxis Crossmark UST. The best they would do is R700 per tyre, WTF . CWC are selling 2 plus 940ml of stans for R700. Lucky for him sanity prevailed and he walked out without buying.
  13. Grant from www.singlespeed.co.za has the short crank bolts as well as Mono Veloce SS specific chainrings in various sizes
  14. Yes, yes and yes
  15. Hi RodTi Got your pm. Attached find a pic of the LX cranks when they were still on my 26" SS (dont know the model number). My LBS made spacers out of a stuffed big chainring. This was a few years ago before the short chainring bolts became available. I am sure you could just do the same conversion as Deanbean
  16. Dude check this thread. 2 April Rietvlei. Everybody with a SS is going to be there https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/100288-singlespeed-champs-rietvlei/
  17.
  18. Now this is why the Hub works well. Bloody Agent I think you just saved BigBoy from a certain scam
  19. +1
  20. Eagle Canyon Cycles in Northgate and Johan Bornman of Yellow Saddle
  21. When I post and ad, I never include any contact details in the ad itself. If they are interested they have to PM me. Meaning they must be a member and not just someone trolling the site. You can then check up on the hubbers status by searching for previous posts by the poarticular hubber. It is not foolproof as was found out by a few guys being taken last week by a hubber, but its a start. Link that to MorwoodMad's comments and you should decrease the risk quite a bit
  22. I fell of a ladder and badly broke/dislocated my elbow (apparantly most of the time a fracutre and dislocation happens at the same as the elbow pops/breaks out of the socket) and two ribs. They had to surgically repair the elbow. I still have a screw in my elbow where the doctor reattached the tendon. The doctor told me that I would never be able to straighten my arm completely but after numerous Fisio sessions and loads of work with one of those elastic bands it eventually recovered. Pain wise the two broken ribs kept me off the bike and not the elbow for at least 6 weeks.
  23. Another point is that I don't think you can pay the day license when entering online, so then you have to take bucks with when you register. Happend to me at Babbas and I had to go all the way back to my car to get the R35.
  24. Dude its a no brainer (R50 ROAG, R75 Provincial License, R75 CSA) all done on-line, took 2 days and I had it. Versus R35 per day license. I have done the few races where the day license point was not the same as number collection meaning to 2 x q's.
  25. RodTi. I am using Shimano LX cranks for my 29er SS. They are bulletproof. My ss inherited them when my geared bike got XT cranks. All I did was install a 32t Blackspire SS chainring and have had thousands of trouble free kms with them. And yes they use the same external BB setup as the XT's and XTR's.
