  1. Starting in F as well
  2. Shamus. All these new tyres but still no 29er tyres
  3. I love my gripshifts. The only problem is it looks like Sram are phasing them out. You can not get 2x10 gripshifters and it looks like Sram will not be making them.
  4. "Has anybody moved from a 26" SS to a 29" SS ... curious to know how this faired?" Hi Hairy. I only had a 26" SS for a short while before I changed to a 29"SS. The 29" is much better. With Single Speed you need momentum to get over stuff, and the big wheels makes it so much easier. Looking at my times for the same route the 29" is faster. Because its better over obstacles I have managed to keep the same gearing i.e. 32/16 on my 29er, hence the bike is faster. Oh and with the bigger wheels and tyres the Rigid fork is not as "rigid" as with the 26" Hope this helps
  5. Yeah Rock. There are alot of photos in the thread started by you. I think it would be fantastic if admin could move all the SS related threads to its new home.
  6. "At present Cyclelab has tied up all stock coming into SA" Atraut now you know how they do it. No one can match their quote because they have all the stock Based on Tokoloshe point of view of course .
  7. CWC online rocks. I bought some Momsen Design bar ends from them. I placed the order @ 14:00 and when I got into the office at 08:00 the next morning the package was waiting for me already, in JHB!!!
  8. Tankman, All you need is a steerer similar to this one
  9. It is difficult to say. Stay clear of anything shorter than 200mm. There are loads of variables here, like the length of the fork (80 vs 100mm vs 120mm) the size of the frame the fork came from (the bigger the frame the longer the steerer would be) etc
  10. Most Suspension forks come with uncut steerer tubes. The best would be be to install the fork without cutting the steerer tube. You then have a few options. The best would be to take your bike to a specialist bike fitter and let them measure you up and install the necessary spacers and when you are happy only then cut the steerer to size. Alternativley you could play around with the spacers until you feel happy with the set up. I have a simple solution that works for me. It is not very scientific. I have a specific seat height that I set all my bikes too. When I get a new fork or bike, I first get the seat to the correct height and then take a spirit level and then set the spacers on the fork to make sure that the stem and the seat are completely level.
  11. The frame size does not change. So get the 18" frame.
  12. My condolances. This is really bad. Twotumble I will be careful in Suikerbosrand as well. Check out this link https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/71183-speeding-bakkie-hits-cyclist-at-suikerbos/page__p__1031050__hl__suikerbos__fromsearch__1#entry1031050 I am afraid that where there are cars in South Africa you are not safe
  13. Dude, You cannot make a phone call with 50c you will have to give us more. Alas telephone charges, a rant for another day.
  14. So Go for a p&SS and buy the Racing Ralphs and save 600g
  15. They are as scarce as hens teeth. I have the ZTR 355 and have the white Crests on back order from CRC (29") to build up a new lighweight wheelset with the new XTR race hubs. Ask Tarmac-SLR he has a set of 29ers
  16. I see CRC already have the new Shimano XTR race m985 in stock. I cannot however find a weight for these hubs. Does anyone know how much they weigh?
  17. Tarmac. How much did the AC hubs cost and can you source them?
  18. OK Arkadion. I know where you are reffering to. To put the shoe on the other foot. I have been going up there when half way up the zigzag someone starts coming down even though I am already half way up and then he insiss on flying past completely breaking my momentum. I think this is one stretch where it should be "first in first out".
  19. I Agree with Dangle. Arkadion Regarding the Spruit what area are you referring to. I can only think of one and that is the hill from the Power station on Republic. If you have to brake when going down there for someone coming up and you feel disatisifed with your speed just turn around go up and do it again. I also want to thank the Spruit Genies that have been hard at work fixing up the route over the last couple of weeks

    Race King

Flogster there must have been something wrong with yours. I went on holiday for four weeks and when I came the Race Kings were still inflated. It was done by the LBS when the bike was built up

    Race King

I run normal Race kings tubeless on my 29er American Classics without any problems
  22. I Love my grip shifts. The only problem is it looks like Sram are phasing them out. There will be no gripshifts for the 2 x 10 range (XX or any of the others)
  23. Super mil, that is a cool photo!
  24. I know the Pirates club have a MTB group ride every Saturday morning starting at 08:00 at the moment. During the week there is a small group of us (2-4) that try to ride at least twice during the week starting at 15:30 from Emmarentia Dam wall. You are welcome to join us if you are keen.
