  1. Ok, so got then home and unpacked and all.. Little samples of (ass)os cream and wash detergent... Not sure if I'm sold on only washing with that stuff... But nice to see in the pack. Also like the little wash bag to prevent stretching. Sizing chart says L but shop said XL would be better thanks to my huge ass(os). Tried both and agreed on XL, just out them on now and sat on the bike. Holy cow that chamois is amazing! Of course, it'll be proven after a good long ride this weekend, but must say, fit is superb. The one difference between the uno and the other bibs is the chamois is shaped on the higher models, vs flat on the uno. Don't know whether it's worth the upgrade. But all in all, really impressed with the quality, presentation, and feel of the assos shorts... Really looking forward to having this kinda comfort on a ride! Now to pay the damn credit card off! Thanks again for the input, really really appreciated guys. Oh and just FYI for the readers here, Solomons have a clearance on the assos bibs, and they're not even the white ones! Best price I could find anywhere... FWIW..
  2. Well just walked away from Solomon with two pairs of milles due to no stock of unos... But two pairs for 4k om very happy with! Happy birthmas me!
  3. Well, most shops will do that? Not just bike shops but most retailers will.... If he wants to have me spend my money with him, he should be willing to match a price found elsewhere? Surely that makes almost all the business sense in the world?
  4. Legal or not, it's a douche bag move... This is why places like cycle lab will really succeed with the corporate backing... At least there you know you won't feel like you're in a lbs, but won't get the stupid crap like you do at some of the lbs around. Out of the 10 shops I've visited in jhb, walked straight out of 3 thanks to them glancing in my direction as i walked in,then carried on thier conversation to thier mates... Another one got upset when i asked him to match cycle labs pricing... On a tyre. I ended up at cycle lab anyway (where i absolutely loathe spending money). Unfortunately it seems most lbs owners nowadays dont care for less seasoned riders who perhaps dont have 40k to drop on a whim.... I get a whiff of "i was once a pro so the cycle world owes me" kinda feeling. Abd thats why i refuse to support them as far as i possibly can...
  5. No no, only black! Hahahaha I'm not a fan of seeing other people's sweaty cracks through white bibs, so in won't be showing off mine... Why do they even make them in white anyway?
  6. I've seen a pair of santini shorts purchased a few months ago and have been looking worse for wear... Luckily they belong to my brother in law so he's the guinea pig! He also has a pair of giordanas that he swears by... Of all the Internet searches and reviews, the assos get major props for long lasting and great comfort... With a current market deal, I'm thinking two pairs of unos for 3k will be the way to go.. Just holding thumbs they have stock!
  7. This. This is why I love the hub. Thanks guys, will be purchasing my first expensive as f*** cycle bibs this week, and hey, if all goes well, tomorrow! But keep the suggestions up, never know if there's anyone out there who needs more convincing!
  8. Thanks, that's awesome feedback... No one mentions the chamois being the same throughout, glad to know!
  9. Price range is no more than 2000 bucks!
  10. So I want some decent quality bib shorts... Obviously every review anywhere raves all day about the Assos. The unos are in my price range. So this is my question: Os the Assos the best buy for that price, or is there similar quality and comfort for less? I hear craft are great, not sure about the f tech carbon air... Also, is the extra money for assos mille justifiable over the unos? Thanks in advance!
  11. Felt like such a ****! But hey, it made me have fun instead of killing myself for a time, so I'm kinda glad...
  12. I forgot to put my timing chip on... So that's one no show...
  13. This thread is the reason I work my ass off at work...
  14. Ok so I know this will sound silly, and I do expect the usual responses... It's just that with all this talk of wheels size, is it possible/plausible/enjoyable to rie MTB trails wit a BMX? I wouldn't mind doing some shorter flatter trails, and don't want to invest in a mountain bike as my road bike has already seen me break the bank a number of times! I know it'll happen with a MTB as well... But I might be able not get hold of my trusty old bmx, then one I rode to and from school and all over with when I was a kid... And figured, with some knobblies on, maybe it would make a fun bike? Anyone doing this, or why I shouldn't? I know I wouldn't be able to sit down, and yes, it would only have a rear v brake, and yeah, it would be small... And a single speed! But, will it work well?
  15. I'm with I cycle... The premiums are pretty good and my first claim went ok, they paid out after a few back and forth emails. They cover for pretty much everything, I liked the policy terms...
  16. I'm a roadie and when others do this sh*t, it passes me off beyond belief... But mountain bikers on the road aren't any better...
  17. And always remember... Eat before you're hungry, drink before you're thirsty. And in heat like Sundays, drink a hell of a lot.
  18. You did it slightly wrong, from what I've studied. Your training should have happened a lot more before this. Last week should have been "taper" week, where you don't decrease intensity, only duration of exercise. This gives your body the right amount of time to rest. Unfortunately, for most people and especially us weekend warriors, we train like crazy in the days leading up thinking it will increase our endurance and fitness, but in fact does the exact opposite. Next time, train like crazy. But the week before, do shorter, but as intense, rides and training sessions. Google training taper and there should be extensive three week taper programs which will get you ready.
  19. I forgot my chip... Do technically I never showed up... I still ask myself how I didn't think to attach the damn thing

  21. Fact still remains man. You failed to plan. A chain is highly likely to fail, with some of those climbs in race conditions. You should have taken quick links with you. Not being a **** I just think you're complaining about a real race luxury...
  22. Yeah that's not that expensive... And you're lucky to have the support like that at all. If you didn't take your own, that's your fault dude... Be grateful and leave it at that.
  23. You must have been riding very close to me... I saw the same things in the same chain, and also got stopped next to the golf course... Poor girl got some bad facial injuries, hope that's all it was! I was on the black marin bike with cosmics, in centurion kit!
  24. Jt found out a friend of mine had a mild heart attack on the n14... Poor girl is just 24... Shame, kinda foresaw something like that... She's quite overweight and she and the bf did it together... Poor guy is a little traumatised to say the least... But he medics were excellent and she's now in ICU...
  25. Some of us were racing in that chaos... Agreed tho. I really think a pamphlet of some sort should be included with all the race info on basic etiquette... Keep right, especially if you're a slower rider, be predictable, don't blow a snot rocket if anyone is within 5m of you, and hold your damn line! I understand the back groups are made up of mostly fun riders, who only race this the whole year, but someone has to tell them cause no one likes sounding like a condescending ******** having to scream this as you go past... But hey. It's part of the game I guess! Hubbers, you guys are absolute machines with those times! Well done!
