  1. I'm quite glad that this thread, and the lawsuit in fact, exists... Why, just the other day, I went online to order a brand spanking new red, black and white Roubaix... You should have seen the surprise on my face when, at checkout, I'm presented with a huge bill for the Title Deed to some Cafe in Canada (I've never even been to Canada)! Apparently it's right above an ice cream shop (and boy, do I LOVE ice cream), but still a bit too hefty for my wallet and the missus would've taken my head off! Luckily, I got past the confusion and eventually ordered my Specialized Roubaix BICYCLE... It's things like this that need to be stopped... Well done spez!
  2. I would venture to say it's almost worst than here... Wow... Scary stuff
  3. Having dealt with the guys at BBT before, I know they go the extra mile to make customers happy and provide a great service... As has been stated, it's a model that is no longer current, so I feel that you should take the replacement and be happy with it... It may not be perfect, it may not be what you bought to begin with, but it is covered and replaced as requested. What does your warrantee specifically state regarding replacement parts? You may find a nice little clause covering them for this exact thing. Again, it seems like they've done pretty damn well to what others have experienced, and provided as best they can for the situation.. If you really don't like it, go to maizey plastics, get some green vynil wrap, and cover that... Won't void the warrantee and color matched. In fact, you can stay right around BBT and see the guys at fineline design just further along from the BBT office park entrance, they could do it for you. And then see rule #5.
  4. I have been to the new store. Twice, in fact. First when you had just opened and then when you had the specials. Neither occasion did I feel the slightest desire to pull out any cash. From my experience, cycle lab was always a place to get ripped off on a new bike. You didn't go there for spares and parts, and certainly wouldn't step foot inside if you were on a budget... I had hoped your new store would be like the pro shop. You have the complete stuff, but also all the awesome little things to improve your experience on the course... And always always always a budget option. Your new store doesn't do that, and I feel that your approach to get me inside is all wrong. The correct one, I can't tell you for sure... But you're still missing that something that every little bike shop has that makes me drop cash anytime I walk in, even if it's just for a tube or a bomb whe I was only "popping in to have a look"... So yes. Underwhelmed.
  5. Yeah. They also have a terrifying lack of scantily clad women... What else does everyone use to get motivated?
  6. Eina! Great story to share... Sad thing is, you'll still see idiots riding without them... Claims of "doesn't protect anything" spewing from their mouths... Heal up quick man... And don't forget... Chucks dig scars.
  7. Yeah I'm becoming more and more underwhelmed with this takeover.. I had hoped for a far better cycle lab, but it's just sounding like the same place with a bigger space...
  8. Or you could also remove them completely and use cable ties... Would look a bit *** but would work...
  9. If I was spending big money on a bike, I would only want electronic... It's so freaking sweet... Yeah sure, there are pros and cons to both but I doubt you'll notice the weight difference between the group sets and replacement parts on the wear and tear stuff will be more economical with the ultegra too...
  10. The tarmac would be my choice between those two... But on this thread? The Fiji seems mighty fine! And a venge in matte black would make me parting with my money less painful...
  11. You not cross chaining by chance? Sure it's not the front derailure? Shouldn't be a noise like that but never know what weird things could be happening...
  12. What's your nutrition like from an hour before your ride - onwards? Not so sure but you may have a deficit until your during ride nutrition kicks in... My butt has the same problem during rides, but that's nothing to do with nutrition...
  13. This sounds more like a mugging that a bike jacking... I would think they only took the bike to prevent him from not chasing after them... When we had an armed robbery at home, they took the car keys but no cars... Just a preventative measure... But sad to hear... And agree that the roadie comment was very childish... He was offered help by cyclists. Done.
  14. I think she should have the same amount of suspicion and investigation as anyone else posting. If she delivers the goods, in an agreeable manner, she's a good seller. If you suspect her source, you'll need to suspect everyone's... If you don't like her answers, don't buy from her. I agree with above though, it's seeming like a very unwarranted witch hunt, when clearly there are a few people who can attest to her sales.
  15. Which agents did you speak to? I know the guys at the ghost shop in four ways are excellent, they're called ballistic bike trading... Speak to Fraser, the owner... But if not, I would take it further, especially if you have written confirmation of a frame replacement... If it is ballistic who is being unhelpful, maybe contact the big boys overseas and express your concern? I've dealt with the guys at ballistic a few times and find them very very service orientated... Good luck dude!
  16. Why not try some nail polish? Easy to apply and pretty hardy after a couple of coats...
  17. I think you're missing the point... Your prices should attract me to the store, not the store attracting me to force you to match a price. Perhaps a more economical way would be to give us some item prices that are not rave about on your flyer, and then include that there are more options, at xx% off? I hate the blanket percentage discount off as I always think, you could always be 15% more than anyone else to start with. But I'm only trying to help. As stated, I really hope you get to the same level of the pro shop quickly because it's the only shop which gets my golfing money... Don't mind doing that for my cycling money either, but make it worth my while? Not just money wise, but in all aspects of a Bike Shop...
  18. Personally, I had hoped that the takeover would make cycle lab more like the pro shop. And nowhere more important than the brochure for the sales. I don't want to see how many percent a range is discounted. Show me products and prices, that'll get me into the store, just like the pro shop does every year.... I always find myself saying "oh wow, that's a good price for that!" and go to the store and buy it... This was kinda useless, and honestly, your sticker prices are very high so the discounts didn't really make me want to drop the cash... So I didn't... Anyway, I would say, start getting competitive on price, and then advertise... Otherwise you're just the old cycle lab all over and I won't be back.
  19. Hey dude, yeah the Web page isn't the greatest, I know... And it's not like I work for them or even get cash for pushing then! I've been found them to be a good, smaller establishment with less hassle and more personalised service (think local bike shop vs Cylabmegastoregiant). But it's your bike and your money, and insurance is always like choosing the blunted of all the thorns... Always a risk you'll get pricked. Good luck, I know exactly how you feel about making this choice! It's a *** one and you're never really sure until you claim...
  20. Yeah, I'm insured at around 50k total value. As said, they don't really have any loop holes as far as I could tell, but they paid my claim without too much hassle.
  21. I really do recommend i-cycle. They don't seem to have any loop holes at all. They were very specific when dealing with my wheel claim of a fair bit of money, but eventually got my money out without too much hassle, and are quite helpful. I also recommend dealing with sean, the company MD when asking all the questions, at it makes him accountable when the fit hits the shan.
  22. Check the following: How they pay out What they cover When they cover it Excesses applicable How they manage bike upgrades Cover incase of no forced entry Cover if bike is on a rack Cover in races Cover overseas Cover during transport Cover on accessories like gps, sunglasses, wheels. How they pay out is important. I'm with i-cycle, and they will pay to the shop I take the damage to, but in some cases may pay me out directly. My main questioning covered any gaps where they could weasle out of a claim... So think like a douche bag insurer when asking your questions!
  23. Reviews say between 699 and 999 US. Considering the power tap will be the closest price wise, but still have to build it into a wheel and then only have power when using that wheel, it will be a great alternative. Of course, with the way the classifieds work, even second hand models will put you back around 8k... But cheaper than a SRM!
  24. Nope! Two black... Won't have to worry about kit for a good while now:)
