  1. VG on the day or Lynnwood Cyclery tomorrow (between 10 and 2 I think.)
  2. You must be quite bright then.
  3. Wow, according to their website there are only 7069 entries to date. Compared to the speed the CTCT entries go this seems rather slow doesn't it? I really hope they get their 30000 entries.
  4. You are probably right on this for the SA market. This and the Tjommie factor.
  5. Maybe they should develop a policy that pays out if one is bust doping and loses one's income as a result. They could call it Bust-Cover or something like that.
  6. There is a difference between synergy (1 + 1 = 3) and brands associating themselves with a sport or sporting personalities. Sponsorships are generally supposed to be a form of advertising where there is exposure for the brand in the media and enhancement of that exposure by having a famous person or team excelling while resplendent in their branding.
  7. Seven hundred and eight hundred and..."Listen carefully" Seven hundred and ....
  8. Ja, I didn't concentrate properly there - missed the Super Auto bit. I think you are right. The closest they get is sort of semi-auto. That said, Saeco make quite a decent super-auto.
  9. I would add Isomac to that list. Great after sales service too.
  10. Flip KarlvN, that's hectic! Glad you're still with us. Heal up soon.
  11. Rode his Surley, Stretched@Birth did the whole thing on his Ritchie SS HT HF!
  12. My first ride at Thaba Trails. Thanks Stretched@Birth and Nerd Flippa for the cool intro to this lekker place! Edit: Fixed.
  13. Amazing pictures as usual LTG. Nice!
  14. I guess this would require "consent"? But rather this than the monkey
  15. It's also hypocritical to hold cyclists to different ethical standards than for example, drinking and driving, jay-walking, speeding, not completely stopping at a stop sign, tax evasion, spanking your kids, not paying your TV licence, music and DVD pirating, downloading movies without paying, and the list can go on. Just saying... There is hypocrisy all over the place if you look for it. In fact, I think there is a bit of "holier than thou" in all of us if the truth be told.
  16. I have no gripe with the LBS whatsoever. Neither do I have a gripe with the online retailers. The latter have made products available to people who would otherwise have not made a purchase at all or at least, would have purchased the less premium option to save costs. Merely stated that warranties are supported by the manufacturer, which in my experience so far has been the case.
  17. These costs should be recovered from the manufacturer through a warranty claims administrative process. The local agent does not carry the cost for the warranty claim (if it was a genuine warranty claim) A great example of this is Navworld with Garmin. It doesn't matter where in the world you bought the Garmin, Navworld will handle the warranty and recover the costs from Garmin.
  18. Thee paaitjies, tunnels and thngs
  19. Looks nice. Where is that?
  20. It seems easy until you have to do it. It's easy to have an over-simplified opinion sitting on the other side of a keyboard. The real cost is in proving the matter to them and constantly needing to defend your position given the very obtuse angles they come at it from. Have you ever had to defend something with the Competition Commission? I have been involved in a couple of merger submissions to the CC and believe me, it's not just a matter of sending an email or making an affidavit. Much more is involved. Including certificated from Auditors and representation by attorneys.
  21. Cant speak for the others, I only spoke with Kim Johnson. Duress in a legal sense of duress from a financial perspective? No to Duress in a legal perspective, Yes to duress from a financial perspective. There comes a point where standing your ground from a legal perspective costs more money than you have. At that point, from a financial survival point of view one needs to make some decisions. He chose not to bankrupt himself.
  22. Flame suit on! I had a long chat with Kim Johnson on this topic. Basically he says that for his part, he did nothing wrong. I have known Km for many years and quite frankly, I believe him. They were bullied into making a so-called confession with the consequence of further summonses and legal action if they did not. At the end of the day, he went along with it because he was not willing to spend more money on legal costs. This thing hurt him badly.
  23. On my way to work this morning. Taken from the Riverlea area.
  24. Ja it was great hey. They snapped this one of us at the finish. I believe you enjoyed the section up the koppie and past the graveyard on your SS!!
  25. JUMA Great to have my son in his first ever cycling event!
