  1. Ja, vra net vir Chris. Ek dink hy het al gery!
  2. He could visit Schweitzer-Reneke. They have cake there..
  3. Did he eat with his mouth closed?
  4. All these things were available to all the riders at the time. Jan was just like many of us, like food too much...Liked leisure too much. It was his choice.
  5. He was also a great tactician.
  6. One thing I have noticed is that he is still fit, cycling and running a lot. More than some of the other so-called cycling legends can say. Most of them look like they got stranded in a cookie and McDonanlds outlet!
  7. Don't buy more beans than you can drink in a week. Make sure it's fresh. Buy a new pack when you have a day's stock left. Otherwise its stale.
  8. Who doesn't like Corky?
  9. I think they filmed me doing that....
  10. I heard a rumor that he only rides a SS Fixie with a steel frame and does not use handlebar tape. He rides the MTB trail segments with 53/11..
  11. Hey Duane, I have been reading your posts with great envy! Hope you are loving every minute! It sure looks like you are.
  12. My ride at Thaba Trails this morning was such a peaceful ride. Saw many animals but didn't get any pics of them. This is at the start of Samuel...
  13. I found this for the 2014 event. I believe the route is a bit different though for this year.
  14. Will be my first attempt on Saturday. 10Km ride from home, 40km race, 10km back home. Good day's riding!
  15. This is what mine looked like installed. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/118072-dropper-posts-things-are-hotting-up/?p=2930688
  16. I must say I was surprised at the content of the water points at Saturday's Ashburton MTB race. "Twizza" are event partners so other than water, their cola was flowing in copious amounts, Doughnuts, cake, sweets and bananas. "Healthy eating" oriented people like me could eat as much banana and drink as much water as they wanted while the sugar rush people could eat their fill as well. guess you could call it a balanced meal. I thought that was cool, something for everyone!
  17. Posted this on another thread but it actually belongs here" Ok, so this one turned out to be quite tough because of that 9km never-ending climb at about 51km I think. Man - it took me an hour to get to the top! Cycled with a couple of mates who were new to MTB but mad enough to do this race. One went OTB on that steep loose descent after the first water point. He had some "interesting" cuts and grazes and my plasters wouldn't stick on him but a good Samaritan had Staaldruppels and a bandage thing which patched him up. If he sees this post - Cheers mate! thanks for stopping and helping!

  19. "Just" the marathon. Ultra way too long for me (at this stage!)
  20. Not playing fair man! I only feel better about that because I am making my way to Dullstroom this weekend.
  21. This from the guy having fun at Thaba in the middle of a "school day"!
  22. I'm all nerves about this one. Even though my goal is just to finish the marathon I still get nerves. Weird that!
  23. Yip, that's him!
  24. Thing is the article refers to a scientific guide. This is is how a "normal" athlete would fuel for optimum performance. Anecdotal "evidence" is influenced my many things like weather, general feeling of wellbeing, mental state during and after a ride, terrain, relative effort/intensity, physical conditioning etc. This is why anecdotal "evidence" is more individual perception than evidence. I would follow as close as possible to the guide they produced, with the exception of the white bread. yuk!
