  1. Just want to share a bit of silver lining after my bad experience. So part of why I was so bummed out was that with fall no. 1 mentioned in my OP, I broke my rear derailleur and had to replace it completely. Sunday’s fall had me seriously worried, as my hanger was severely bent and I only had a couple of gears to work with and thought that the derailleur must’ve had significant damage as well. Replaced the hanger today and gears are running smooth. Wanted to go and hit the turn I fell on this afternoon, but got held up with work. Will definitely go back over the weekend and give feedback. But I had a massive sigh of relief when everything worked, so wanted to share the good news.
  2. I used to be one of them, but I sadly sold my Cotic after nearly dying… lol. V-brakes and gnarly descents don’t mix well.
  3. Completely agree. Feel so much better after just reading all of this. Thanks to everyone!!
  4. Thanks!! Very helpful. Using Specialized Butcher and Eliminator combo.
  5. So glad you mention the weight, because I've also struggled a bit even though the kg difference between the two bikes I've mentioned isn't as significant as yours.
  6. And to make matters worse - I have a 160mm fork, so I’m not at 66… which might be a part of my problem anyway.
  7. Thanks! Informative video. Have to admit that caution might be helpful in my case as over-confidence has gotten me in trouble in the past, but I understand what you mean in terms of committing! Appreciate the feedback.
  8. Thanks. So perhaps just a bit more practise, time on the bike and being more cautious. What you are saying makes sense. I do think my front wheel slid out first in both cases. Pressing down on the handlebar before a turn when leaning the bike in? Feels so strange that I now have to think about something that always just came natural.
  9. I switched from an XC (Scott spark) to trail (Pyga Hyrax) bike, and I’m finding the transition a little difficult. I’ve fallen twice in my last three outings (sliding out) and its difficult for me to pinpoint what the hell is going on, as I couldn’t intuitively tell where I messed up, which has never been a case in the past. I know it can be down to a number of factors (tyre choice, inflation, bike size, etc, etc), but could the change in the geometry of the bike be a little bit more difficult than I anticipated? Going down feels great, but cornering on flats and off-cambers doesn’t. Confidence on the bike is now terrible and I cut my ride short today to go straight home.
  10. I was completely joking. On the Epic 2022 thread, there were pages deliberating Nino's rubber choice and I continued the joke here.
  11. These do roll well!
  12. Look no further than the Maxxis Aspen that Nino rode in the Epic. Just beware of flatting around every corner. Jokes aside, Schwalbe mountain hurricane is pretty fast rolling on the road.
  13. Would’ve liked to help, but can’t with that size. Hope you manage.
  14. Size required?
  15. Horses for courses… lol
