Do yourself a favor and find out what the services cost. The cheapest service my mate had on his Duke was R8k. Basically no dealer support outside Jozi. Styling is awesome, Brand is to drool for. Just don’t buy one with your own money.

Let me know if you looking for a good person to help rebuild, source parts etc. A good friend of mine raced and won SA championships on 125’s / 250’s and then on the 4 bangers. He and his dad are blessed with witchcraft trickery when it comes to bikes and that is what he does now. Added bonus he’s a hugely dedicated cyclist.

I’ve heard a lot of people exploiting that particular flaw. Gotta love how creative people can get when the need arises to cut corners.

I do not have first hand experience with them but I’m very interested in the GOAL ZERO products. They look like great quality and have a huge variety. http://www.curtismobile.co.za/goal-zero/ I currently use a 18000maH Battery Pack that came with my Dell Laptop. Lasts for ever, and don’t need to charge it once during a 3 day stage race. Charging 2 phones and a GPS every day. A pain though as you need the laptop charger to charge when you do. IMO 12000 plus maH is worthwhile. Of course it depends what you wanting to charge and how long before you can recharge batterpack. Modern cellphones are around 3000maH and a tablet around 7000maH I think. So based on knowing what you charging and how many times you want to charge will determine size. Then, as far as which one goes, well you get what you pay for. Go cheap and the device will take forever to charge and probably not hold capacity for long. I’ve always bought the best batteries I can afford.

Not sure. But with the lack of marshals out there today with the route they designed I expect lots of cheats in the results. I lost count of people that were popping out of nowhere....... Other than that, I thought it was a great event and route.

If you watch MM on a MX bike he’s pretty damn good. Was on par with Rossi at his Ranch before the bust up (many believe when MM rocked up with his own suspension guy for the fun event it was the beginning of the end of that love story). That might suggest he has the feel of riding “loose” bikes well. I stand corrected but you don’t see WhoreGay or Danny doing too much MX in training for example. Hard to compare any athlete from different era’s in sport where technology has played such a big role. There’s no proof that Doohan, Rainey or Schwantz could ride a modern MotoGP Bike at the front of the field either. Once again highlighting for me personally why Rossi is the best we’ve ever seen. Talent is Talent in my mind. So no doubt he would have been good. But those 2-smokers did leave lasting scars on those that didn’t respect them. You can spot them in the paddock, in wheelchairs or dragging a serious limp or missing some digits. The guys these days just get away with so much more. Tracks safer and kit a million times better. New bikes tend to lowside you. The old bikes turned you into astronauts.
