  1. Has anyone out there had any problems with Stan's skewers? I've recently got a factory built set of Crest's with stans hub/skewers. The rear skewer has worked itself loose on 2 occasions. Fortunately the consequences were not dire! On both occasasions the skewer was very tight before starting the ride. Whats odd is that even after closing the skewer (very tight) you can still move the skewer rotationally (if that makes any sense). Got the rep coming to the bike shop to take a look but wondering whether this is a known problem and if I should just avoid Stans skewers altogether?
  2. You can't get one. There simply are none to buy.
  3. Ja? Whats the plan? If this was a public company there would be alot more questions to be answered!
  4. I assume you were wearing a bright luminous top and a bright flashing red light? If not then I'd add this to the top of your lessons learned.
  5. I just paid VAT. CRC had stock issues when I wanted to order so I bought from these guys - http://www.cyclepowermeters.com/cycleops---powertap-21-c.asp Wheel arrived in a couple of days without any issues and cheaper than CRC.
  6. Tragic indeed. While I don't know the specifics of this incident (and therefore wouldn't want to make any comment regarding this) I am amazed at how many cyclists are riding either in the morning or evening without lights and visible clothing. When I mean lights I don't mean a silly Knogg or Fizik saddle light I mean something that stands out. Clothing is also an issue - no one really wants to wear lumo gear but if it can save your life is it not worth looking uncool?
  7. Did Brown Dog not make the cut?
  8. Does anyone know of any bike shops in Cape Town that have any demo 29er's? I've been into 2 bike shops in the last week and just get a dumb look when I say I'd like to do a test ride before I commit. At this stage I dont have any preference for brand just want to try one out.
  9. I'll be going to the US in a couple of months and am looking to pick up a new bike. Whats the best way of getting it back here without paying an arm and a leg on VAT/import duties?
  10. I spoke to Omnico today and they said they (and bike shops) don't have stock (L) and won't have until at least April.
  11. Hi, also considering the move and would be interested to hear your thoughts on the 'Dale. Which LBS are you getting a demo bike from? Stock for all of these seem to be a problem.
  12. What do these frames cost? And is the carbon version available yet?
  13. If it tells you everything you need to know then its no surprise you don't see any value. Sometimes you need to know what you don't know.
  14. Just the VAT + a handling fee
  15. Cycling on your own is certainly not first prize but if there's no one to go with then one just has to be prepared and take it easy (ie avoid falling)... I'll be there next week so if anyone wants to join me or give me a guided tour let me know.
  16. bump..
  17. Hi, If anyone has any of the harkerville routes which I can use on my garmin please either attach them or pm me. I'm specifically looking for the red route - been a few years since I rode it. Also does anyone know what the cellphone reception is like as I'll be on my own. thanks.
  18. I've tried numerous videos. Carmichael's are very boring - if you want to watch someone else riding on a stationary bike get a mirror. IMO the best videos are www.thesufferfest.com
  19. I bought a Powertap Elite+ wheelset (Mavic Open pro) from Cyclepowermeters.com during July. They were running a Tour special. With priority delivery it came to to 585 pounds (ex VAT). Arrived in 5 days. Can't see any LBS coming anywhere close to this.
  20. Looks useful. What does this all cost? I assume you need to buy the Garmap application and then the maps as well?
  21. No idea about Mapsource.. But what exactly are you doing with it anyway? If I want to add a route I just do it in ST? How much better is mapsource?
  22. Yes - quite simple: - plug in Edge - select import on ST3 - click the folder option - browse to \Garmin\Activities folder on your edge and multi select the various .fit files
  23. Its quite simple - its called the individual time trial..

    Racetec....

Not entirely sure what all the fuss is all about. Is it really that important that you know your result minutes or hours after the event? Surely you've got better things to do than - 'most cyclists want to get home and see their results.' Racetec should just put up a notice stating that results will be available from 1-4 days after the event.
