  1. R1150 buys you the Spez Align II, with MIPS in an array of colours. Helmet testing institute has it in the top 20 of ALL bicycle helmets in terms of test results. It also looks good. https://freewheel.co.za/products/align-ii-mips So, for me, that is the 'base' model I compare all helmets too. I have been using one as my road helmet for nearly 3 years. My take on this is general knocks, miscellaneous falls off the shelf, being dropped or knocked off the coffee table, the kids kicking it etc.... 3 years ish of small knocks, drops etc coupled with sweat, polystyrene being exposed to sun etc and constant use says it likely has some degeneration issues/hairline cracks and won't work as optimally as it should. The Align II with MIPS makes it an easy sell at roughly 340zar a year
  2. THAT tool! That's what the chat noir needs!
  3. Indeed, hence me saying you will need the reducer that fits into the standard Shimano BB tool that droo said he would need...... you likely need both?
  4. Didn't shimano change their BB cup size so you need the little plastic reducer that fits into the old shimano standard BB tool? As far as I know they sold those reducers with the BBS
  5. I have a road helmet, an MTB helmet with lower back of the head protection and removeable visor and a Bell MTB helmet with removeable chin bar for when I used to shred the gnar I also have 2 x old road helmets that were retired having never been crashed but got old, as well as 1 x retired old MTB helmet I had more retired or crashed helmets but I have donated those to the skip because I have way too much bike related clutter. All have MIPS. I may be due a new road helmet soon too. I think I bought this current one beginning of 2021, so 3 years is just about up
  6. The only people who pass me are DEFINITELY pros or ex pros..........
  7. I have a relatively simple view on this. The two bikes are VERY similar. You likely won't be able to tell the difference The things you are grappling over are tiny and likely not relevant to your current skill level. Both are upgradeable as you advance. Both tick all the boxes currently. I think you're splitting hairs and would do just as well with either. Take the plunge, buy one and get shredding
  8. hahahaha I will take some pictures a bit later. I unfortunately have to work today!

hahahaha BMX riding hobbits are in 'short' supply Tim! I'd guess a tandem BMX even more so!
  10. @droo will have a solution for you, or at least a good suggestion.

Yes! Everesting is definitely one of the more idiot things I can think of. I'd definitely give that a go. It's free and it's good training 😁

Those seatposts are 100% not available to the general mouth breathing public! That is a beast of a bike. I have huge bike and seatpost envy!
  13. You really are Don't let the sjambok or mob advice get you down!

I think it's general chit chat? I sent you a message, but it's one of those non sales related ones so you probably won't find it hahahaha

You are a legend! To register to become a donor/fund raiser, one generally approaches the charity and they set everything up, give you a link to spread around and people can donate via the charity portal assigned to your profile. It's not a complicated process in most cases as it is something most of the bigger charities rely on. I still have my SPCA trail shirt, so I think I'm sorted re apparel and support. Just need to re-set my profile for 2024. I could do a series of idiot things on a 20" bike to make it fun. But money's too tight to mention at the moment, so in order for this to get off the ground O do need this to get off the ground.... if that makes sense!

I am pretty sure I can make the BMX 'Munga capable' I already have adapted tubeless 20x2.25 tires and disc brakes. If I can sort out the seated position and get the frame bags sewn up I reckon it won't be too bad

Thou shalt not worship no false Billy Idol!!! I have to figure out the seatpost/saddle height. Being able to sit and pedal will be important and my bodged effort broke the other day. I have an idea to slot a 30.9 seatpost OVER a 27.2 one with the top cut off. I'll figure that out the next couple of weeks too. I'm still a few weeks away from riding outdoors due to my broken elbow, hitting the trainer most days with one hand on the bars

Gemmer, you are amazing. I look forward to hopefully meeting you next year!
  19. Are there cameras in ALL Ubers? If so, how do we destroy footage? Asking for a friend

Thank you @DJuice! I will try to register with SPCA this week and take up the mantle from Gemmer. Hoping we can get there and get pedalling for pooches again!
  21. My thoughts are the musings of a troubled mind. 1. You should have realised it wasn't going to end well after he replied to your initial anger with reciprocated anger 2. You definitely shouldn't touch his car and ride off..... BUT........ It is quite satisfying to get a little bit frisky with a knob head when you're in the mood. The law/case thing about malicious intent to harm his car is rubbish. The cop just doesn't want another case OR, which I think is more the case, he knows exactly who it is and doesn't want to tangle with him because he is probably a known mad man with violent tendencies and zero regard for consequence and relative retaliation. I was at school with a guy who had very obvious mental issues and he used to snap sometimes. As kids, arguments and argy bargy were commonplace. He had zero idea of the scale of retaliation, so if the tennis ball was called out, he thought it was in, no, it was out, NO, IN! he would then attack you with a metal pole and hit you until 17 people pulled him off He wouldn't remember doing it or why he did it. Anyway, just be glad he didn't shoot you and remember that next time the urge to get frisky strikes, don't do it. A car will always win against a bicycle. A car is made of metal and hard bits and you are made of feelings and soft bits
  22. Robbie Robbie Robbie...... According to the hundreds of pages of fired up discussion it was decided that true, authentic Gnar! is the type with lots of rocks and dinky donks and steeps and rolly pollys which you ride slowly, thus making it SAFER than jumps and speed tracks and big manicured berms and gaps...... Do you remember NOTHING!!!! 😂
  23. No one is supposed to be on the mountain after dark unless booked into a mountain club hut, doing a sanctioned event or is a ranger. This includes night rides, 13 peaks/overnight runners/hikers etc No one. No entry after dark is printed on the signs at all access and egress points right next to the no fires,no sleeping, no booze etc pictures
  24. I often ride Tokai and the Green belts alone and very occasionally alone on the road. I do however run almost exclusively alone. Be it on the road or up the mountain, the only person I ever run with is @ridr when he visits Cape Town. I take my dog and we do what we do. I too am well aware of the dangers, but I have a few processes I have in place when I see others I don't like the look of that I feel would give me a good heads up. I dislike trail running in groups. Too much chatting, waiting and inevitably photos and all sorts of faffing. I generally dislike groups for anything. More than 5 or 6 people and a switch gets flipped, mob mode engaged and some sense of mob mode entitlement/zero accountability kicks in. Me included. I find it best to not put myself in that situation
  25. Bear in mind there were also more man hours to make up as the police weren't needed at night to sort out drunken riff raff, drunk drivers/accidents, domestic violence etc as the curfew and no booze left them with very very little to do
