  1. It's the culture these day. It doesn't matter where you do things. Here, FB, newspaper classifieds, trying to book stuff. No one cares anymore. There is no way to 'address this' as you can't regulate who uses a website based on manners or decorum. While it is annoying, it is part and parcel of being a part of society these days and deciding to open yourself up to dealing with non vetted people outside of your select circle of friends. I just sold some stuff on Marketplace and had one guy message me on Thursday night saying 'I want to buy your golf clubs but I'm going away early on Saturday morning so you need to bring them to me in Town tomorrow because I'm not getting stuck in the traffic to Muizenberg' without even telling me his name I sold them to someone else It's a case of not caring. Just expect it. If you think posting an advert anywhere these days will go any differently these days, you're delusional. So either donate all your old stuff to Kim or BEN bikes or throw it away or accept you will deal with the free market and stop expecting everyone to operate how you think they should operate.
  2. I'm pretty John Snow when it comes to e-bikes If that is the case, then I'd say that the cranks have definitely then been installed on the wrong sides. From what I've seen they are pretty much an updated version of the old Octa-Link spindle interface so it's an easy thing to do.
  3. Chainring mounts?
  4. Don't ruin Betaboy's agenda with common reason.... Jokes aside, it happens a lot. I remember Sagan having to put his chain back on a number of times mid stage after a fierce intermediate sprint. Many big sprints where the winner has stopped to hug everyone after the win and then almost fallen on his face trying to ride away to the bus as the chain is off and the cranks are just spinning. But mOToRdOpINg
  5. One thing people don't take into account is the amount of time one forces the body to ingest stuff. 3 to 5 hours? Cool, most of us should be fine. 6 to 9 hours things start getting iffy. The mouth starts getting sensitive and your teeth start getting furry. 9 to 14 hours you probably should have mixed in some real food and savory stuff along with a balanced fluid in take. Longer than 15 hours? Eat real food mostly, have a carb drink on hand and keep some Gu/sweets close in case you feel a bonk coming. Keep some enos handy too. That's my sort of formula and it works 'for me' Considering I've done non stop running races lasting almost 4 days, non stop AR races lasting over a week as well as 33 minute 10ks and sub3 marathons, I have a small Idea of how my body works and gee wizz it's taken a lot of time on my feet to get there. I'm sure I could have been a 'better runner' if I had actually cared more, but the reality I was and am still there for the doing of it, not the results. The times and the results have always been secondary or a product of the experience.
  6. Ja, I mean, it's not aimed at racers and BikeHub BikeSnobs (TM)... It's an affordable option for 'normal' people, who ride bikes. I reckon it's a win
  7. The new range looks really slick. Well done everyone
  8. Ah... I'm no help with that unfortunately. 90min to 3 hrs I would drink water and probably eat some jelly sweeties and some exercise fudge if I had with me. Or I would stop and buy something at a shop if I bonked I guess, but that is unlikely if running at a reasonable 'long run' pace.
  9. That dude has definitely handled bikes before... The stem grab gives it away. I would also never leave my bike unattended BUT, okes, the OP knows he and his mates cocked up. No need to kick them while they are down. Sorry you lost your bikes. It sucks when crime eventually catches up with you and is no longer just something that happens to other people.
  10. For sure, but the TV is just a screen. The MiBox has pretty basic processing hardware and DSTV isn't designed well. So Netflix et al are specifically designed for streaming, devices etc with limited hardware, DSTV hasn't made a well designed platform so it smashed cache , bus memory and the auto setting is full HD 'when possible' which it always tries to achieve. It isn't efficient, which is why it puts strain on the MiBox Just watch DSTV on a laptop when watching live TV/sport. The platform stuff is all fine, but the live TV is where the strain comes in Just trying to help, use it, don't use it
  11. A streaming package has 2 available streams. If you want to use a MiBox you need to clear the cache all the time. It's better on a laptop with better processing power. Or change the quality setting so it isn't trying to stream in HD all the time. A MiBox isn't strong enough for that
  12. You know you can take out a streaming only package for R800 ish for 2 feeds?
  13. Jousting Sticks? How much does he want for them? 400? Is that for one or for both? .... ...... ......... Tell him he's dreaming!
  14. As someone who grew up with a very mentally unstable father, I can assure you it existed. There was, however, I very taboo attitude towards it. The stigma attached to mental health has been addressed and the realities of what it is or that it even exists is far more accepted. The 'sweep it under the rug and don't talk about it' generation suffered and their kids (us) were left with pretty big scars that we were ill equipped to deal with. It's quite a complex thing. The internet and social media has also produced quite an interesting dynamic with regards to how much/what people feel involved in. The fact that 'you never liked the guy' means that through his cycling and exposure, you developed an emotional reaction to him. People these days have emotional reactions to all the comments, personalities, global situations etc they are exposed to and they are exposed to a LOT In the old days you could head in the sand it by just not reading the news paper or watching the news. It's again more complicated, but our brains weren't made to cope with so much stimulation
  15. This cannot be stressed enough. When I tell my cycling friends to start with 3 to 5km and do that for 6 weeks and then do 7 or 8km for 6 weeks they crings... 'I'm not even tired'..... Until the ITB/ankles/knees/hip flexors all ded and they have to spend 8 weeks doing nothing
  16. @mecheng89 don't listen to ridr, he is well into his 40s..... But if you want to run a sub3 marathon before breakfast on a Tuesday he is your man
  17. Maybe only old people over 40 still play? I know how ageist you are! 😝
  18. GATEKEEPERS UNITE! Do you guys also make mix tapes of obscure, rad music to play at parties and refuse to tell anyone the band names? 🤣
  19. As a Capetonian, I've been impressed by Pirates at the races. The support, the vibe and the gees If you were in Cape Town I'd offer to run with you but I'm too old 🤣
  20. https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/astana-qazaqstan-confirm-strong-tour-de-france-support-crew-for-mark-cavendish-in-hunt-for-record-stage-win/
  21. How so? 1 x Classics stage, 2 x flat stages and the Galibert with everyone on fresh legs? I reckong stage 7 ITT and then all the way to stage 11before we see any sort of big duel, then 14, 15 will split the pack. The grand finale of 19, 20 and the last day ITT 'should' be absolutely radical There are a lot of pretty flat stages early on.... It couldn't be set up better for Cav to win another........
  22. I think the fringe guys are getting popped because they can't afford or aren't invited to the good stuff. They are still using drugs/PEDS that get pinged. We need to move away from assuming these guys are drugged. I don't think many of them are in terms of what we know to be PEDS. Stem cells assume the genetic construction of the body and adapt to what the body needs and the treatment isn't as expensive as you'd think. Recovery from injury WAY faster with a lot less effort needed by the body. I'm on the 'physical enhancement' boat as nothing will show up in a drug test and nothing will show up on the passport. Yes, teams will still drug, kids will still get pushed basic things to achieve Craven Week u16 glory and Paarl Boys can beat Gym every now and then, but the tippy top of the ice berg has left that era Anyway, TDF fever!
  23. I think the age readiness has a lot to do with science and structure being introduced into junior sport (and sport in general) over the last 25 years. These kids have been exposed to structured training, fatigue tracking etc from a much younger age so there is little to no adjustment when reaching 'the big stage'. Remco was being spoken about by LeFauvre as a future world champ when he was 16. We tend to forget how much things have developed in the last 20 years. 25 years ago GU sachets were still 'new'. I remember the release of pre sealed corn syrup sachets being 'life changing' 30 years ago. With regards the 'experimental medicine'.... well, history shows us that huge, complex, expensive Drug/Doctor rings have existed in the past, there is nothing to say they don't exist now. The methodology and treatment is just different
  24. Do you not have a daily planner? How do you keep appointments and stuff?
