  2. Event Name: East Side CritsWhen: 28/05/2023Where: ChloorkopMidrand, GautengCategory: RoadJeremy and CGC have been running with these "Training" events for a while now. They are not official sanctioned events with podium etc. They are however a bunch of fun and riders would drop in from all over Gauteng on a Sunday morning and fit a crit into their morning outride. Although these are not official events with podium etc, CGC and Gauteng are using these Crits as part of their talent identification for SA Youth Road, Time Trial and Criterium Champs that will be taking place in East London in July. With enough rider support or a solid sponsor willing to back the initiative, these will become sanctioned events and a regular on our Gauteng racing calendar. You will find toppies, dads and moms doing the C batch with the younger youths. The older Vets and masters racing snakes in the B batch mixing things up with the youths U15's and U17's. And then of course there would be representation from a number of our road teams mixing it up in the A Batch race. Even if you do not think you would want to race, plan your Sunday morning outride so that you can stop and support the guys racing. If you enjoy road cycling, this is certainly fun to watch. There is usually a coffee vendor in the vicinity. This week's distances. C category 30km B category 40km A category 50km The distances are longer than previous events  Last time there was a coffee vendor and ambulance present, Gave me a warm fuzzy feeling :) Enter on the day. https://www.facebook.com/groups/553135972724044/permalink/972103410827296/ Go to Event Page.

  15. Did you manage to get sanctioning and SAPS categorisation for this event?
  16. Must be a membership because actual Race licenses work on calendar year.
  17. I found it best to ask on the hub if you are looking for something specific. Found the first two momsen’s that way. Also sold them here on the hub
  18. Buy 2nd Hand and sell on again, that way you are not going to burn that much money. My kid is 13 and still riding 2nd hand, this year he will be on a 26” that is also 13 years old. Good light 2nd Hand is better than a heavier new bike. Let’s hope they get to ride a bit at least.

  21. Western Cape numbers are really impressive, double that of Gauteng at the moment. Here we have High schools split into separate leagues, Gauteng North and South and primary schools on their own. Looking at your numbers, I can only imagine where we are going to end up in Gauteng. If we can only get 10% of these kids on the road or track as well, our cycling future will be a bright one.
  22. This is the first year for Gauteng Primary Schools and what a blast the kids are having. Numbers are already close to 200 and that was slap in the middle of exams. The Split focus between skills and racing is also working for the kids.
  23. Summer League Final Postponed to 4 May. Nice little activator for the legs for 100 Cycle Challenge
