  1. There are really good generic versions from Cure components. We use them in our store in Port Elizabeth. Lots of our clients are happy with them
  2. sponsored, hand out entries or what ever. one thing Kevin has done in the past is create an international stage for mountain bike racing right here in SA!! He's helped put SA in the lime light for mountain bike racing and I'm pretty sure its going to be the same with Gravel Burn for Gravel racing. End of the day Grave Burn is a business. Outside of Cape Epic, event entries are down. Sani2C use to be 3 events over a week. this year it was 2, Cape Pioneer trek was down this year, Trans Baviaans use to be back to back 2 weekends in a row due to so many people wanting to do it this year was only 1 weekend, Wines2Whales use to be fully booked in days when entries opened up this year they are still advertising entries. in order for Gravel burn to be successful they have to attract the overseas market.
  3. Coming from a shop mechanic that doesn't seem to be a manufacturing warranty that looks like a crash damage of sorts. That can be anything from the bike falling over to airplane handling.
  4. You say your dad is cycling across France how is he carrying his stuff?
  5. Drop Bars on a mtb takes a bit of getting use to. It doesn't compare to road bike or gravel bike. the hardest part is actually bike setup as you'll need to run a super short stem or maybe even go down a frame size (like I did) as where your hands are on the hoods is about an extra 5-10cm more forward than where they would of been on a mtb. But ill only recommend this setup if you have ridden it a few times Karoo to coast is mainly gravel roads with the 1st downhill and the one other descent in the last half being your most gnarly.
  6. I rode a drop bar hardtail last time 2022/3 This year is my 7th K2C Gonna be running a dual suspension drop bar. Giant anthem with a very frim rear shock. Running Onza Canis 2.3. farr aero drop bar with a bell to tell the slow pokes in A bach to move out of the way(im startingB) on the first climb out of town
  7. +1 to this
  8. A good tyre ive been using is the Onza Svelt in a 2.25
  9. nothing wrong with the hub. quality of bearings, how they are installed, grease used, conditions you ride in, how often you ride, how you ride your bike, how you look after your bike and so on. i have some clients that will get 2 years out of a set of wheel bearings then i get clients 100kg plus that will have to get theirs replaced twice a year. if you're doing the more rough stuff then your bikes maintenance will be higher
  10. That's to be expected, the owner is too worried about trying to be a celebrity and completely forgets to run a business
  11. Cassette is fine. Wheel axel is bent this also explains the rotor touching the brake pads(sound in the background)
  12. unfortunately not the more gears a bike has the thinner the chain and sprockets get in order to accommodate the sprockets to fit on the hub. 6/7/8 speed chains have a width of 7.3mm 9 speed chains are 6.5-6.7mm 10 speed chains are 5.88mm 11 are 5.62mm 12 speed are 5.15-5.25mm In a pinch it will get you out of trouble mid ride but the link will snag on the bigger sprocket on the cassetter and maybe even your derailleurs. But rather just get the correct quicklink
  13. When it comes to suspension. 1st thing you do is setup the correct sag and rebound for XC thats 10 to 15% sag with the rebound setup in a way that the fork doesn't feel like a pogo stick plus some adjusting to preference. DT Forks are absolutely amazing and i personally think they go underrated. Is the DT the same amount of travel as the previous fork?
  14. You can link your zwift to garmin and or strava profiles that you can link to vitality. You can also connect your bike trainer to your cycling computer or phone and upload to your linked profiles.
  15. with 11 and 12speed you must replace before 0.5 or you risk a chance of wearing out the small sprockets. depending on what gear you ride in most you might get to 0.6 before wearing out the small sprockets. reason why the small sprocket wears out 1st is because they have less teat to distribute out the forces
  16. Its a difficult one. They should at least cover you for the damages to the frame. Declining the claim for the broken wheel i can understand as it isn't yours and your bike was valued without the carbon wheels.
  17. Zatek got naked while on a bike ride.
  18. MyWhoosh for the win. Free to use all the exact same features as Zwift
  19. To me it's the only way both seller and buyer side. You just need to be clear who's covering postage and so on.
  20. These people/ resellers are actually ruining the second hand bicycle market. Every well priced bike gets purchased, goes get washed and then put up for sale at 20% min markup. This slowly makes the 2nd hand market overpriced and in the long run starts making an already expensive sport even less accessible to the "bellow average Joe" and as there is no longer a bargain if you keep you're eye open either don't get started or leave the sport.
  21. although you're right but not every bike needs a major overall. You've offered me 50% less of what i was wanting on a road bike that was in borderline brand new condition and priced competitively (dont argue with me on this as i work in the industry and the bike sold in less than a week at the price i wanted). at the same time you're being annoying and insulting when you keep low balling over and over on every decent bike that is for sale
  22. they should be serviceable, my trials bike one also packet up and opened it up replaced the bearing, gave a good clean and regrease. you might need special tools
  23. I'm currently using ONZA Grava and they are beautiful all round gravel bike tire. Crafted Cycles in Port Elizabeth are the distributors. They do black and even do a very cool retro white tire,
  24. if you're the original owner and within 2 years it is covered by warranty.
  25. Unfortunately road raving is on a downward spiral. MTB pro racing has a bigger following than road. The big mtb event's pay for media crew including a helicopter to be there as it draws sponsors and follower's to the event.
