  1. Bum deal but at least not a Hub deal.
  2. NIK-NAK where was it advertised?
  3. Yoh, not nice! Looks like cash is the only way to go with a sale nowadays. As mentioned above open a theft / fraud case at the local SAP and get in touch with your insurance
  4. Any of the local bike shops will be able to help you out, suggest phoning around and asking what they're going to charge first though because it can vary quite considerably; easy enough to DIY as well
  5. After being hit by a car end of last year I asked Cyclelab do to a damage report on the bike (not carbon) for insurance - I explained what had happened and obviously left the bike with them for a couple of days after which I collected it and a two page damage report detailing everything that needed to be replaced, serviced, etc. I'm sure any of the bigger LBS can do this - in my case Cyclelab was just the closest. I would think that they would rather err on the side of caution should there be any possible structural damage to your frame and forks and would reflect this in the report.
  6. Keep us posted if you do go ahead with the build
  7. Without doubt on the very top of my wish list - a full sus SS! Why? Yoh, I guess if you have to ask you just won't understand Any one own one locally? Have a look see at : http://www.lenzsport...il.php?prodID=4
  8. Damn! That can't be good
  9. Yoh, hectic - hope she heals up soon, keep us posted if there's any developments
  10. Going to be awesome when it's all put together, very nice eddy
  11. I haven't made use of their services as yet but a couple of people I know and ride with also rave about them
  12. Unbelievable!! Hoping you get it back
  13. I was hit from behind while cycling at the end of November 2013 and have only now been paid out as a third party claim. All vehicles that have a valid and current insurance will have third party coverage. In my case the guy that hit me didn't disclose most of his details (a passing SAPS vehicle gave us each a piece of paper and told us to right all the details down) but a photo that I took of his car licence disk had a company staff parking sticker right next to it. So, I knew where the guy worked (an insurance company of all things) which gave me a good place to start. I called the company and explained what had happened and was put through to their legal department. I mentioned the staff parking sticker and provided all the details I had (name, ID number, vehicle registration) and also mentioned that the guy isn't taking my calls. It was left at that till I followed up with them a couple of days later (not once did they follow up and call me during the entire 3 month process, despite numerous promises to do so). I lodged a formal third party claim and was forwarded the necessary documentation which I duly completed and then waited some more. To cut a long story short, once I had a claim number I could phone every other day and follow up, which I did and eventually I was paid out. If you have bikes that aren't all insured (like the one I was riding at the time of the accident) and you do need to claim as a third party here's some useful info from my experience: - take photos at the scene of the accident - get as many details from the other party as you can, they might not their insurance policy number BUT they will know who they are insured with - make sure the details are complete before you part ways, for example a cell number is never going to just be 6 numbers long, or an address isn't going to be just 5 The Cedars - if anyone witnessed the accident get their details - report it to the nearest police station where the accident happened - get an accident report number - call the applicable insurance company and explain what happened and take it from there
  14. Really tragic RIP
  15. Frightening thing is that the photo's posted are of the boards at the new mega store in Fourways and I can't remember how many times I've seen a salesman standing next to those very same boards with a potential client and using it to explain why the client should be getting a specific bike ... They've got some Surly 26" frames in the shop but I reckon people are too embarrassed to ask about them
  16. It makes no difference how many events you've done, it's always cool when you get a decent goodie bag! Big up to the Xterra organisers
  17. Go Flowta!
  18. Crazy stuff! Glad you're okay - watch that swollen knee though
  19. My neck of the woods and unfortunately I see it almost daily - guys riding to and from work on any of the big buck bikes, anything from Specialised's, Momsen's, etc. with clipless pedals and wearing overalls and a hard hat. If you look at what the guys are riding and what they're wearing obviously it just doesn't add up BUT can you actually stop and pull a guy off his ride and tell him it's stolen?
  20. I was on the Ragley site earlier today and now this post; must be a sign The Piglet looks awesome in the green
  21. Excellent idea - I'd be keen for Saturday 1 March
  22. Saw in the new Ride magazine that Solomon's selling them at R699
  23. Wayne supplied my On-One Doofer and SS conversion kit - literally an email in the morning and collected the next day
  24. I can find literally all colours except plain old un-powder coated or un-anodized aluminium ones. Any ideas as to who might stock in Jhb?
