  2. Try borrow a pump before you buy one. It might be the seals or valve core as most pumps sound like they letting air out when you unscrew them.
  3. Does anyone in the Cape Town area have the tool (TL-FC35) to remove an XTR m970 crank? http://techdocs.shimano.com/media/techdocs/content/cycle/SI/XTR/FC-M970/SI-15H0A-001-EN_v1_m56577569830600538.PDF It will take 5 seconds to use so cant justify paying over R300 for this tool.
  4. They should maybe make the last 30 teams give up their entries. Remember they have changed a few things and they might just change this system next year. This year they bought down the numbers. I just want to do the day 2 single track that we missed last year.
  5. I will be using Racing Ralphs front and back. Will take a "spare" tire along which will be a nevegal, nobby nic or another racing ralph.

  8. Took my frame in so they could see what headset size i needed. They took frame, said this will fit I said cool I will buy it, they dissapered for a few minutes (I thought they needed the code for the part for the till or something) and they came back with headset in frame ready to go. I wont say the price as no-one will believe me but it was cheap.
  9. Another question, his is a conservancy right? Where is the conservation as it looks like the vineyards are all over. What kind of animals can we expect to see? Would there be consideration to do an organised night ride one evening? (I want to see a porcupine and they are nocturnal creatures)
  10. Sorry but getting lost is so much fun. Out of interest, what if people went exploring along the jeep tracks... is it forbidden as it seems the whole place is a trail? You guys are doing a fantastic job and I can see myself doing this trail every second month ( sounds like a long time but even my favorite trals see me that often with all the events and other trails to choose from)
  11. Great training route. Some points of concern: We were chased by farm dogs twice but were lucky to have energy in the tank to ride away. Some others may not be so lucky. What will happen when the farms start operations and tractors are all over the place? Fast trails and I bet the tractor/truck drivers wont be very alert. Bail out routes? Access for a vehicle to go fetch injured riders? Fantastic views and I am sure some ironing out needs to be done, hope this helps with a few considerations.
  12. My company built some showers for us but not everyone is so lucky. Hairy uses the gym showers.
  13. This morning was not so bad (5:15am) and will see what its like on my way home tonight. Leaving town at about 18:10
  14. use the cycle lane from Paddocks or Woodbridge Island. I was told that we NOT allowed to ride through there. Cyclist seem to go through all the time though. Leet22 you ride from Royal Ascot everyday? I usually commute with Hairy and this is why I need to get to the cycle lane. Popeye, you cycle this route everyday? I tried riding with you once but you are strong and very fit and I couldnt keep up. (YAY that means training for me )
  15. Let me know when you want to start. I can come down the road and meet you near Burgundy estate if thats your route. The guy from rapid sports is from there somewhere and commutes everyday i think.

You forgot to mention the mud guard at the back
  17. I am a woes. The traffic looks manic there and even in the car I wonder if I am being a bit silly to commute that route. Do you go through the inetersections at about 6:45? Its total chaos. I have met a couple of riders and they say no issues but I dont, like riding on my own if I can avoid it.
  18. I was waiting for a few more responses before I PM him. I think he rides weird hours though.
  19. Looking to join somebody or someone to join me commuting from as close as Bothasig to town. I stay In Panorama so can meet up anywhere along the way. My basic route is down Bosmansdam till Koeberg, then over Koeberg to Otto Du Plessis to get onto the cycle path. I feel uncomfortable doing this route on my own and hate driving in.
  20. You cant fault Williams for a service. The amount of knowledge sharing is just awesome. I cannot walk in and out of that shop in under an hour. You ask him a question and he gives a straight answer. And I cannot forget to mention the bike porn in his shop from time to time. If his son is around he will gladly treat you like a human being and you would not know he is an X-terra champion. Great after sales contact via e-mail. Product knowledge is some of the best I have encountered. Pricing may be steep for some but I equate him to a ferrari mechanic, I am paying for his knowledge and experience. Have not had a single mechanical yet. Negative is he is far from the CBD so have to rely on weekends to see him or ask friends to drop off bikes and fetch them from his shop.
  21. Can it make XT/XTR spokes?

  23. Do you always do the same route? Park cars at shop (safe)? Average pace?
  24. Cool, name and shame. Had a terrible week before the argus with bike shops in the Western Cape.
  25. Any chance the exhaust of his car was blowing on the tire in transit?
