Nonsense. I made a point of watching on Sunday because I fully expected to see him win. But then again I know absolutely nothing about Moto-GP and had no idea how misguided I was......

  3. Oupa Piet, I know exactly where it is. Lovely part of the world
  4. I think that the road from Kruisrivier back to Calitzdorp is one of the most magical rides one can do. Good surface and after the climb out of Kruisrivier you have a undulating road gradually losing altitude so if you carry speed in you can power over the next rise (ok, this only works until you get to the dam). The road is mostly shaded and you can do 50km without seeing a car, but it is not so isolated that it poses a threat. I miss it. Ps. Where are you in Groenfontein?
  5. I'm ready.
  6. Calitzdorp to Prince Albert and back via Kruisrivier and the Swartberg pass. Spend the night in PA. Gravel About 90km each way, tough ride there and easier ride back, neither for beginners.
  7. Can you post a link to the video ? I had a chat to the pilot this morning after our ride, but I am not on Instagram.

Do you have a route map for the Jo'burg ride ?
  9. I got sent a photo of the temp just south of SBR this morning. -10.2
  10. Symmetrically?
  11. Fill a cardboard bike box with all kinds of sh!t, maybe even literally and if you can find one, a snake. Tell him you have packed the bike for easy shipping. Arrange for his uber to pick it up at "your work" and meet him at some nondescript place. Go home, put a steak on the fire and have a well earned Buffelsfontein or two.
  12. I was a bit concerned when I read your comment as it was diametrically opposed to what I had been taught. So I watched the video. It is excellent and confirmed my training. With an engine failure on takeoff (or any other low energy situation), airspeed is the only thing that will keep you alive. As counter-intuitively as it seems, the most important thing is to get the nose down immediately. The video covers the why and how you need as much airspeed as possible in these situations. Other than for CFIT and involuntary IMC, almost all GA accidents are caused by poor energy management close to the ground - EFATO or botched go-arounds. With airspeed you can fly the plane to the ground with a chance of walking away. Without airspeed, you stall and fall to the ground. there is no surviving that. Ask the girl who did just that in the Cherokee at FAWB. Of course if you have lots of surplus potential or kinetic energy you can trade height for speed or vice versa, but that mostly doesn't kill.
  13. We can now close this thread.....no more to be said.
  14. Crossmarks are the Gatorskins of the MTB world.
  15. I was five when I figured out that lucky packets are a scam.
  16. Do you know what the enquiry found? What went wrong ?
  17. Can't answer for you except to say that nobody is saying you MUST pay. You can CHOOSE to. I chose to do so for the same reason I buy a slice of cake from the coffee shop, or a burger from the restaurant under lockdown - it gives me an inexpensive bit of enjoyment and helps out a smallish business in the process. Ag fokkit, just call it charity towards someone I'd like to see remain in business. .
  18. When I went to their shop on Saturday there were a number of big signs at the counter informing me that there would be no refunds and no returns on sale goods. I accepted that as the terms of the contract. Why didn't you ?
  19. I am sure it has been asked, but how do I link windows 10 Laptop to Core via Bluetooth ? When I try to link, it sees the Kickr but when I try to connect it fails to do so.
  20. Andrew, so you have any more of the thermal socks in size Small ? We took the last one on display
  21. We stopped off in Northcliff heading home from the Cradle on Saturday morning and were blown away at how good the value was. I'm not wild about some of the fabric designs, but we stocked up on 3 jerseys, Platinum arm warmers, a lekker black windproof jacket and some odds and ends all for less than a pair of Ciovita bibs on the last Cycle lab sale. Very pleased we stopped off and sommer bought a bag of biltong next door.
  22. And apparently a pair of "father and son" movie tickets every second month.......
  23. Have a look at these 15 minutes of nostalgia: https://www.youtube.com/embed/ie3SrjLlcUY A short documentary on photo recon pilot flying an unarmed, unarmored Spitfire over Berlin, the Ruhr valley and a wheels-up landing.....
