After 5 years at UCT my daughter's car has a bit of parking lot rash - nothing serious, a scrape or two and a ding here and there. She now has a professional job and wants her car to look the part. This is true, but you can do two things to get the more "pro" aero position, but ONLY do it if you don't compromise comfort and control. 1) you can remove one or more of the spacers under your stem and put them on top. No need to cut the steerer. 2) you can flip your stem around and have it more neutral and not pointing upwards. Do this in any event.

Agreed 99.97%. I believe that if it's not the pinnacle of the sport to win the Olympic gold, that sport shouldn't be in the Olympics. There is not a tennis player or golfer who would prefer a Olympic medal to winning a major. TdeF or Olympic gold ? No question which cyclists would choose. I make an exception for low-key sports where athletes do not make a fortune and where the Olympics are still the dream. Rowing, a sport close to my heart, being one. I'm sure there are more. Ps. Any event where you are are judged, rather than measured or timed, is not a sport and has no place at the Olympics. Sorry rhythmic gymnastics, synchronized swimming, figure skating, Eurovision song contest, etc. no matter how hard you work or how entertaining you are, you belong on Britain has got talent not a sporting competition.

Roadbikes are not like Mountain bikes and there has not been the same development of technology as has taken place in respect of MTB's - No change in geometry, no increase in suspension travel, no boost hub spacing, no 1x, no changes in freewheel standards, for rim brake bikes no changes in axle standard, nothing as significant as that. Road bike development in the last 20 years has been relatively static in comparison. Road bike manufacturers have pushed disk brakes on the back of "better braking in the wet", but Egon Bernal rode away from everyone in atrocious conditions on a rim brake bike to lead the Giro. Bike have apparently got "more aero" but at the end of the day, the rider is still the greatest impediment to reducing wind resistance. Tires have become wider. In short, road bikes are all still 2x, rim brake bikes still use QR's and are winning Grand Tours and hub spacing has not changed in 2 decades. I can use my 2020 carbon wheels with 25mm tires in a 2001 frame. Everything has remained compatible and everything is inexpensive to fix. The difference on the road between your D/S MTB and any roadbike is the difference between the Wright brothers and the Concord. The difference between a high end, 15 year old roadbike and a new middle middle market road bike at 3 times the cost, is the difference between Castle Lager and Amstel.

If it is a carbon frame, why don't you have it repaired? It can be done so that the structural integrity is maintained and will be invisible to visual inspection. It will also cost much less than your excess and a rebuild

I got sent the new route, and it will be a bit tougher that any of the recent ones. It starts at Nasrec, finds it way to the M1 to Woodmead, round Kyalami, down Main road past Leeukop prison and then along last year's route up through Bryanston, Jan Smuts into Braamfontein and back to FNB stadium. The last 45km, from the river crossing below Leeukop to the finish is almost all uphill, with very little respite.

Those white roads may be "gravel" in some people's language, I'd like to see those guys ride like that on Breedts or the Rooiberg ????
