  1. Does the cap look like this ? If so, perhaps I can buy it
  2. Regrettably not. It is a round one with a contact for the CR2032 coin battery. Thanks for the offer though. I appreciate it.
  3. I'd be careful about this as there is no after sales service and the local agents are very unhelpful. The battery cap of my 4iiii power meter fell off whilst riding and rhe agents have been unable to supply a replacement for over a year. There is always an excuse, always next month. If only they were honest. I could have bought one online and had it brought back from the USA or Canada for me. (Despite claims of "global shortage", they are available online). I bought my girlfriend a Wahoo power meter for her birthday last month. It works and the local agents are superb.
  4. @Matt I joined September 3 2004. One could at one stage check what number you were. Where do I find that ?

I have Dura Ace 11 speed on a road bike and XX 11 on a MTB. I both shift well, but neither as good as the 2004 Record 10spd and 2010 9spd X0 on some older bikes. I suspect that shorter cages (it is easier to build a short rigid lever than a long one) , fewer gears (precision less critical) and perhaps more solid construction all contribute to this. But both RDs shift solidly and immediately. The Record absolutely silently and the X0 with a satisfying clunk.
  6. If you decide to check, I'd call the park directly and get your Afrikaanse maatjie to gooi die taal.
  7. Re-build Sheriff, re-build...
  8. Some times even because some (expert) wheel builder who is so good he doesn't need a tension meter pulls a spoke through an Enve rim..
  9. What Alfa are you selling ?
  10. Does he deliver fire wood along with the trainer....
  11. Contact JMK1 on the hub
  12. I bought a Ciovita jersey at the 2020 CTCT expo just before the first lockdown, and haven't done much riding since. The problem with the Ciovita jersey is that it has since shrunk at least two sizes whilst packed away neatly in my cupboard till now. Is it too late to post a 1star review ?
  13. I have only have this happen to me with one pair of bibs in 25 years of cycling, a Sportful pair that were bought to small (and then I packed on some weight) and some the elastic fibres in the lycra snapped. Do your broekies fit to tight perhaps.
  14. I don't wish to argue with you, but I strongly doubt that you know what the sub judice rule means. Bester, like many before him, is trying to shut down the matter by falsely calling the situation sub judice. It isn't. Midi TV (Pty) Ltd v Director of Public Prosecutions [2007] SCA 56 (RSA) is the authority on the matter. Nugent JA and 4 other appellate judges disagree with Bester (and you). It is clear that answering speculation about pending or ongoing legal proceedings will not breach the sub judice rule, and the rule should not be invoked just to avoid answering a question which is embarrassing or difficult. Furthermore, even if the rule (which has never been involved after the enactment of the constitution as it is in conflict with freedom of expression guarantees) was miraculously relevant, there is NO PENDING OR ONGOING LEGAL PROCEEDINGS BEFORE A JUDGE which, even in the olden days, was the ONLY time the rule ever applied. Happy to be proven wrong ( and to learn from you) if you provide convincing authority for your understanding.
  15. Again, sub judice does not mean what you appear to think it does; there is nothing sub judice in this matter. We don't even know if a criminal report has been made. Further, I don't know what you expect CSA to do further. To the extent that the matter is to be dealt with by the criminal justice system, all that is required in the first instance is that the victims (via their guardians) open a criminal case at a police station. Thereafter the cops must conduct an investigation, prepare a docket for the NPA to consider, and for the prosecution authorities to build the case and bring it to court. If you think they are likely to do so by the end of the decade you clearly have not been following the State Capture prosecutions - happy to be proven wrong on this last statement but won't bet against it.
  16. This is a fundamental misunderstanding of the legal position, but an oft made one so I don't blame you. The true application of the "deemed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law" is that it is a legal fiction that ONLY applies in the criminal prosecution of an accused. It merely describes where where the burden of proof lies. In other words the JUDGE must treat him as innocent until the prosecution provides the required evidence. In other words, you are guilty as soon as you commit the offence, but are entitled to a hearing where the prosecution has to prove your guilt. In the disciplinary hearing SNB was subjected to he was entitled to a similar PRESUMPTION, and based on the outcome of the review, this took place appropriately.

  18. That was the first ride my wife ever did, and she loved it so much that we were planning on coming down from Jo'burg to spend the weekend and do the ride together this time. We'll see you there.
  19. No more Pie Run ?
  20. I'd normally have said go with a good set of hand-built wheels, BUT.... I bought for my girl friend an almost new set of ENVE wheels from a guy who used them occasionally as his race wheels. He upgraded his race bike to disk brakes and I got 2/3 off a R60k wheelset. If you are patient I'm sure you can find a similar bargain.
  21. If it was sold, he is guilty of the crime of dealing in stolen property. Claiming he didn't know it was stolen is not a defence.
  22. To ride Jo'burg tar roads of course
  23. I reckon getting all three in balance is too hard, so I focus on eating and resting only. Works for me.
  24. That saddens me, as Tullio Campagnolo was a brilliant engineer and innovator of cycling technology. We all use the rear parallelogram derailleurs he designed and after a icy race where he lost time struggling to undo his wheel nuts, he came up with the cam-based quick-release we all used until TA became a new standard (but in some ways a backwards step). Sitting with his mates long afterwards they gave him stick because he struggled to get a cork out of an old bottle of wine. He sketched on a napkin and the next day filed a patent on the "two wings" corkscrew we still use. I was gently musing on Sunday as I could hear the chain on my Dura Ace, that the best ride ever was on early 2000s 10spd Record (no Super Record at the time). Better than Red, better than DA and better that 11spd Super Record on my C59 'Nago.
  25. In a market where products are not really functionally distinguishable, service makes the difference. Here is my story: I bought a Kickr Core during one of the lockdowns and it died yesterday morning. As I had to be in that part of Pretoria yesterday, I dropped the unit off with iKhambi Distribution the local agents at lunchtime, rather than returning it via the dealer. Shortly after 9 o'clock this morning I got a message from them saying they are doing a warrantee replacement and asking where they can drop the new unit off. I could have collected it today, but they are bringing it to me on Friday. If you are in two minds about which trainer to get, I recommend a Kickr for no reason other than the service from the local agents. Thank you Christian and Sibusiso, I appreciate it.
