  1. Just did 25km at Modderfontein, putting a dropper back on is the best upgrade yet, I had forgotten you could actually buy downhill talent!
  2. So after the wife bike saga and subsequent wife bike sale, I treated barney to a few upgrades. Out with the 32 stepcast 100mm and in with the 2022 34 stepcast 120mm Out with the ENVE carbon seatpost and in with the Lyne Contour XL 150mm dropper Out with the non-boost black Hope Pro 4 and in with the Boost Orange Pro 4 with stealth decals to replace the mismatched white ones on my from rim (In hindsight I think red would have been better to match the trickstuff brakes). Added a Lyne bonb holder to my cage again as well to free up some pocket space. All in with a 150mm dropper and 120mm fork it is still under 12KG's but now I want to find a kilo to drop somewhere without changing the ride.
  3. Thanks, I braved it and it wasn't as close as I thought initially. All installed.
  4. A quick question for Pyga Stage/Stage Maw owners. I just bought a 150mm Lyne Dropper for a large Pyga Stage, My saddle rails are 225mm above the top of the seatpost clamp and now that I have the dropper in hand I am worried the post won't fit due to the curve on the frame. Does anyone know the max insert depth for a dropper on the large stage? PS, I can measure with my old post but I don't want to insert the dropper with the mechanism in case I need to exchange for a 125mm.
  5. More importantly, don't do what I did and put clipless pedals on to start...
  6. How did you get it, just upgraded the Pyga Stage to a 120mm 34SC and this would get the head angle to 67 degrees.
  7. ye that was me, had a quick blockhouse and back effort. You hit the nail on the head, I'm waiting for Wayne to realise his current nude black Pyga is *** and paint his one in primary orange with purple decals so we can have a ying yang set
  8. Specialized tactic 4
  9. You'd be surprised how easily they tear after a screwdriver has been put through. Basically like taking masking tape off. I built this for a friend, only part I struggle with was this bloody grip, Otherwise I built it from the ground up including brake bleeds etc. Hope nothing falls off on his test ride tomorrow
  10. Ye, I tried the syringe but this one was too bloody tight so i was jiggling a phillips screwdriver in the try get a gap and obviously jiggled too hard. I normally do ok just getting a silicone nozzle into the end and then squirting soapy water in from a spray bottle.
  11. Took the old lady for a ride at Suikerbosrand, she hasn't been outside since the end if the first hard lockdown.
  12. How not to remove these confounded bloody ESI Chunky grips
  13. https://www.trappers.co.za/collections/mens-rain-jackets/products/mac-in-a-sac-jacket-origin-waterproof I want to try one of these, cheaper than any alternative i can find, some drop at the back and 7000WP Waterproof.
  14. How did you get the road control to work with a 12 speed 10-50t?
  15. Upgrade time, out with the 32 SC, in with the 2022 34 SC.
  16. She unfortunately would not let me leave the house, so I took the lady apart and gave her a good talking to (upgrade): New 2022 Fox Factory 34 Stepcast 120mm.
  17. I have half a thought to convert my wife's unused Momsen SL729, GX, SID Ultimate (probably built more for me than her) into a monster cross bike now as I am also converting my Pyga stage to 120mm and need to sell her SID to do so. The bike has a practically new GX groupset and Sram dual pot Level TLR brakes. Are there hydraulic road/gravel shift leavers that that would work for the GX groupset and TLR brakes without changing anything else other than bars and levers?
  18. It's all about perspective, and at least you are living up to your name I've lived in the area for 41 years, my house is built on the same **** Modder is built on, it's floating more now than ever and I have been in it for 11 years. Sure, maybe they could have done more trail maintenance instead of building a cool pump track for us and our kids, yes, I did crash on a wash out 3 weeks ago and went over the bars hard enough to crack my helmet. But the world hasn't ended, and neither will yours from a 3 week day trail closure to prepare for a 24 hour race this weekend. You should be at work like the rest of us, it is not fair for you to be riding on weekdays anyway!
  19. It was good to be back!, wore the rear pads to metal on this ride so had to replace then afterwards.
  20. I only managed ±200km on the bike since the end of 2020, time to get back to it. Modderfontein did it's best to break this resolve but she failed (or i have a concussion from going head first into that hole at 30km/h when my front wheel got stuck in the one in front of it)
  21. https://www.bikekings.co.za/collections/mx-protection many option here. Just bought a chest protector with a kidney belt for dirt biking and that gives some protection but normally the stomach isn't the focus.
  22. Nice to see another bike has held your gaze for more than 7 days again!
  23. Or buy a tv and watch the Tour?
  24. And a new zwift tv for that aweful empty wall
