  1. R700 and you can have it. The strap is only about 2 months old but it's a no name brand strap.
  2. I have one and can't stand the thing. It's forever spiking. HR spikes which then makes the power number spike. Probably ok as a guide (avg power, TSS score) but for specific stuff I don't like it.
  3. Need some climbs to breakup the bunches. That start looks seriously fast though
  4. https://cyclingtips.com/2018/04/campagnolo-goes-12-speed-with-super-record-and-record-rim-and-disc-groupsets/
  5. I only got 600 points for C2T. These points got allocated to the Friday when the event started. Didn't really make any difference as I had already achieved my goal for that week and I've already reached the cap of 30 000 points
  6. This is such a crap event and those last 4 or 5km just made it so much worse. Whoever decided on finishing on that farm clearly didn't ride the route. From all the adjectives I heard while pushing my bike in those last few km I'm pretty sure that a good number of people won't be back to this event. Then as a bonus you cross the finish line and there's a table with polystyrene cups all filled with water. (only know of 1 person that's done this event twice. everybody else seems to do this once and never again. some of the people that were pushing with me had also done it twice but swore that this year was the last time)
  7. The organisers of this race have confirmed a number of times that this event will have FULL road closure. Will be nice if it does but we'll have to wait and see.
  8. GARMIN SYNC Every now and then a workout doesn't sync. It's completely random. I don't even bother getting hold of Vitality. SHOE BOOSTER My son has had endless sh!t with shoe booster Almost a month later it still isn't resolved and the helpdesk people at Vitality are just ****** idiots.
  9. Who are you insured with ? My insurance asks for the serial number and nothing about the components. Asks the value as well, which is always a given.
  10. You guys with all these Chinese frames, how do you insure them ? Normally the insurance what's the frame's serial number and none of these frames have serial numbers ?
  11. .... and the medical industry
  12. If it does rain on Sunday morning please very careful with all the pot holes. Stay safe people
  13. I normally see a number of people buying stuff. It might the minority but people definitely buy. The people going through the envelopes are mostly volunteers and they normally affiliated with the event organises. The shop just provides a space for them, don't know if they charge for the space.
  14. Because is we are allowed to print our own numbers then the cycling shop where the numbers are being collected from will loose on sales. (just to be clear, I agree with you though)
  15. Sorry but I strongly disagree with you on this point. It's a bunch of guys there will always be egos involved. As you said, many sit in the open bunch and suck wheel the entire race when the bunch gets to the last 1km you swear that it's life or death. They come from all sides in all shapes and riding all kinds of fancy bikes to have a chance to win the group and come in 300th place. Last year at the Fast One there was a major crash at the finish line because of this. I actually think it was the A bunch
  16. Doesn't Rule 13 of the race rules answer your question about Vets winning prize money in AL ? Licensed riders taking part in the open/seeded categories will not be eligible to claim any cash/voucher prize should they finish in the top 3 positions of the groups AL or AM. The start list will be checked with the CyclingSA database and an announcement made before your start
  17. Agree, they are so BLOODY useless. Would be nice to have another Apple distributor in SA
  18. Maybe Navworld were replacing units too easily. Now Garmin has a go at fixing the unit before replacing the unit. I'm pretty sure that sometimes a full software install will solve the problem.
  19. I did a "warranty" replacement in October last year without any issues. My Edge 500 went crazy so I took it in, they couldn't fix it and offered me the Edge 520 for a fee. Paid, walked out with the 520. No issues. Maybe their process changed after I was there..
  20. and like some others have admitted you have taken marriage advice from a thread titled Advice on Divorce
  21. and if you ever think that you have it all figured out then life will throw you with a curve ball......
  22. I was wondering what people were getting. I got a smoothie in the beginning and the rest have been breakfasts The breakfasts are cheaper then smoothies so I'm guessing that will be the bulk of the prizes.
  23. My guess is that since the shoe booster is R 2000 over 12 months the device booster is R4000 over 24 months. 12 months for every R2000 they "sponsor" us
  24. I'm a Garmin man. The cheapest device (I think) is the FP70 which normally sells 2nd hand for about R700. There was one for sale here some time back but I don't see the ad any more. It's a running watch but it does have a cycling profile on it and all that you are after is a device that can log HR and time. Plenty of Forerunner watches in the classifies that will work for you and are under R2k. If you want new then the Edge 25 sells for R3k on the Garmin website. Might also be a good idea for Vitality to launch their Device Booster and see what's on there.
