  1. My personal experience: When I first saw the YouTuber mixing his magic I tried it on the mtb. After about 20km on the dirt the bike starts making some new new and exciting squeaking sounds. My conclusion: if you like riding solo (as no-one I rode with liked the sounds emanating from my newly dipped drive train) and are almost deaf then it is great to apply it to your mtb. I stick to Q20 after a nice bubble bath and soak 😁🛀
  2. Send me a DM and I will gladly provide you with some guidance. I do not want money for my advice, I merely want you to get the most bang for your buck. Unless you rope me in to build you a bike, then I will take your dead presidents 😁
  3. So the M8 refers to thread on the inside of said bosses? Here's what I have here with me. Getting them loose from the frame however is almost impossible.
  4. Maybe post a kiekie as I will most likely be able to assist but I just need to see what you're looking for
  5. Mr Fig sir, Hear this sweet deal: I am so convinced that it is the Power causing the issue that I will put my money where my mouth is. If you currently use a 143mm Power then I will send you a Phenom for you to try and if you like it you are welcome to purchase it from me. If it does not work for you then you can just send it back. Send me a DM if you're keen 👍.
  6. My opinion: Change the Power for a Phenom. Don't worry about the shorts they're 100%. I have done multiple long distance rides with what you've mentioned.
  7. True, but I would've sent it to a specialist and then had the frame powder coated 😊. It may cost you a few bucks but then again, if you diy and end up wrecking the frame then it will cost you some cash as well 😜.
  8. My opinion: shorten the supports and re-fit them. Have a look at my very rough sketch 😁. If you take off say 5mm in total you will be able to move the supports away from the wheels enough to give you some more clearance. But you will need the services of an alu welder 😢
  9. It does yes, I do have cones for Shimano hubs as well.
  10. Thank you very much for the very good Nic rubber Mr Steady sir. Looking forward to getting them fitted to something 😊
  11. I will gladly take it off your hands.
  12. I still think I'll have what you need.
  13. I am 95% sure that I will be able to assist you with this
  14. No hassle, can I get in touch with you in the morning, I will send you some photos of what I have and then you can tell me what you need 👍
  15. Oooo those are the Quill stems right? I have about 20 or so 😁.
  16. Sure thing, I agree with you TDFN, you can easily ride a L, my statement was all about the approach (many ways to skin a cat and all that malarkey). I would rather go with an XL frame and put a riser bar and a shorter stem than go with a L frame and stay with a longer stem or the standard 80-90mm the bike comes out with. Based on the below you fall right on the limit and yes, I know this is just a guide http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-15YIUKTaG_M/U8p8Dps478I/AAAAAAAABO8/ALuweePTeC4/s1600/bike-sizes-adult.png
  17. You're welcome to and you're also welcome to send me a PM if you want to ask a whole lot more 👍
  18. Didn't U*S*N rebrand to Bio-G@En? If that rumor is true then I am not surprised 😁
  19. Morning Hannes, Welcome to the Hub and I hope you'll stick around as this is a great sport and platform. Here's my opinion on your current situation: At 1.86m (hopefully not 1.86cm as then we would have a problem ). But anyhow, I would go for an XL frame and not a L. The reason for this: You're quite a big guy so a L frame will feel cramped and you won't feel very comfortable, especially if you're looking to do the odd 94.7. Depending on what you're looking to spend it will be quite difficult to get a high quality bike at an affordable price. Now before the pitch forks come out: Being 120kg means that most or almost all entry level wheels will have a weight limit and this will lead to a crap ton of maintenance issues. Yes, I agree that a dual sus will be ideal but also bear in mind that a dual will be more expensive. Based on the fact that you would like to do the odd 94.7 I would suggest a hard tail mountain bike which you can fit with slicks when the race rolls around. But then again, this is just my opinion, good luck.
  20. Glad you got yourself sorted 😁. Sometimes you just need to have a conversation with yourself to discuss the situation 🤣👍
  21. My riding comprises of around 99% on the indoor trainer. I don't see the point of cycling outdoors. But to answer your question: Budget options - I've had the Satori / Flow and Kickr and the kickr is way more realistic. Then the platform you can use is: Zwift - avatar gamification (I personally think it is rubbish) Rouvy - cool Sufferfest (Systm) - they do not log or record any elevation gain and the videos can become quite boring (but I used it for 7-8 years). They offer other exercises (strength, yoga). And their coaches are world class? Fulgaz - I currently use this, quite nice, a good change with actual footage, tomorrow I am doing the CTCT 😁. Golden Cheetah - cannot comment as I have never used it.
  22. As ChrisF mentioned, M is going to be too small for you but here's my thoughts: https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/hardtail-mountain-bike-frames/543569/felt-q920-frame-26-large?utm_source=WhatsApp - you send me a DM (direct message) we iron out all the details but in a nutshell - I go and pick up this frame from Conrad, I then box it up with all the parts needed and ship it down to @Bicycle Yard Zarras and he'll assemble it and get you down the road 👍
  23. SRAM gives less km's before the chain and cassette is worn .
