  1. heaavy.. Wikipedia has already been updated "On July 25 he was suspended by his team, Rabobank, citing violation of internal codes." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Rasmussen
  2. I actually cannot believe this . I cannot believe that someone like Vino would dope with his country's president, Borat and everyone behind him. Surely not even the slightest chance of getting caught is worth taking the risk of doping. Has he not learned anything from all the other guys that got caught? If not, he is pretty damn stupid!!! From only having a poor performance on the GC to being completely wiped out of the tour and his whole reputation is destroyed. I just cannot believe it. How accurate is this doping test? What are the chances that these tests are not producing false positives? You guys all confident with the science behind these tests? I wish I knew more about the science behind the tests. I am just freaking blown away by this
  3. i am in the US at the moment and rented a bike here. When Robbie won the stage last week i pitched up at a ride with the new Barloworld kit..hehe should have seen the guy's faces..very random
  4. Have a lekker one IanJ! If you want to go faster, just imagine Jason is behind you.. then you will have no problem taking those intermediate sprints!!
  5. The coverage was awesome, nice aerial shots! Well done boys. There were also a few other Hubbers that i recognized. Mallo (New Horizons) and his partner boxing it out on the tandem .heheh! Nice shot there Mallo!
  6. Click on my nick and you will see my details. I am not hiding behind a name. But in any case my name is Stieler van Eeden and PM me if you want my contact number as well. Jacques, I spoke to you after Stage 1 and gave you a few pointers to improve the event based on my experience from having participated in other tours. And I am also aware your main focus is on other type of events that are much bigger than this and that you are very good at what you do. But please see my criticism in a positive light. I did not criticize the race itself (we on the road cycling). If you read my post I gave you 10/10 for the marshalling, road safety, water points etc. In my mind you could not have done better there, everyone was at his post. The metro police, ambulance everything was very visible and well coordinated. In my books and you also pointed it out safety is the most important thing in a race and you made every effort to put the riders? safety first. So for what counted the most points you guys did an excellent job. What I mean by race organisation is the following. I guess after having done some other tours my expectations were too high with regards to the softer things that we often take for granted; * The communication to the riders were very poor. There was no proper race program to follow? Everything was ad-hoc. And I think the problem here is that people have done other tours and expect it to be done in the same way which is not always going to be the case. I for one am guilty of comparing this event to others. But if you are planning to have a tour in a particular way make sure you communicate it clearly to your audience so that they know what to expect. * People also made analogies with the "Tropical" tour which was organised and presented in its own particular fashion. That tour had some issues of its own and beforehand people were not interested because some probably thought it was the same guys organising it. I think it should be made clear that you guys have got nothing to do with the previous organisers. Personally, I can?t compare this tour with the Tropical tour because it was before I started cycling. * No proper introduction at the race briefing. Your first words were telling us where we are starting the prologue the next day. It seemed like you lost your train of thought after the MIC broke. How about doing a proper introduction and introducing your team of people.. give a bit of background about how the event came about...and also very important.. welcome the cyclists. People pay attention to those kinds of things. * What about the refund for the people that paid R1200, no clear communication regarding that either. Every time I inquired the lady (older lady) told me at prize giving they are going to tell us what to do. I only saw one prize giving at the end but no mention regarding the refund. Now R270 is not such a big deal but out of principle I want it settled because the written communication I received from the organizers said they would. * Your web site. Your web site did not read very well and a lot of the maps and profiles were enlarged to the extend that they were not very visible. People that do not know that area of the country very well want to be very clear on what they are letting themselves in. Pimp that web site. Put as much information as you can on there. * Sell it, I felt you guys could have done better and probably got more cyclists by selling it more actively to the community. Look at some of the other events, even minor ones they start planning and sending out communication to riders almost a year in advance. And this is not advertising you necessarily have to pay for. There are ways to do it. * It was also at the end of the month when Moria is at its peak and traffic back to JHB is not fun. I know my way around this one so it did not bother me. A lot of people from JHB probably don't even know what that star on their maids clothes are but make them aware beforehand of the big trek if the event is going to be held at the end of the month. The last thing you want to do is sit in cues to get home for 500km after having done a tough tour. * There was no clear communication regarding who is in what jersey, the jerseys were handed out informally by the race commissar's. Usually this is done in a more formal way. This is also the opportunity the sponsors use to get publicity. But in the greater scheme of things the fun I had far more outweighed the issues I noted above. I really enjoyed it and it is very very sad that it won?t be back next year as I love that part of the world and the roads are perfect for racing. I understand that you were tight on resources and after reading your post and giving it some thought you did the right thing by focusing what you had on the actual racing itself. A job well done, by faaaaaar safer than most races in jhb. In the end thanks for an awesome race, it would not have been possible without you and your team. It is one thing to bitch and it is another thing to make a difference. I want to see this race be even more successful next year so if you decide to do it again next year I will assist you for free with your web site to help document everything properly and get the word out how awesome this race is. All the best with the rock concert and lastly I apologise for not qualifying the comments I made in my first post. Stieler epoh2007-07-02 14:57:11
  7. seems like im going for a beer with jules, later boys. I took a few pics but forgot my USB cable.. will post later.
  8. So yesterday I felt crap but this morning I was ready for the 160km . Quite a few DNS and DNF'ers today. So now I just have to finish tomorrow then I am done with this tour. Fortunately tomorrow is reasonably flat but Davel said he is going to attack from the gun so it is going to be hard I am sure. Again, awesome weather and great riding conditions. Super lekker roads, with sweet climbs HiQ and some other guys attacked early on with Shaun Davel pulling the peloton for about 60km . Everything got together again on Agata. A break went on the Agatha climb with HiQ and Davel. HiQ attacked Davel and Nico Bell got away eventually putting 5mins into Davel. I havent seen the official results yet but I think HiQ took 1-3 and Davel in 4. I popped at the bottom of Agata but then halfway I got a kick back and rode very hard and caught the chasing bunch just before the decent eheh. I was very pleased with that effort. I finished in the chasing bunch, whoop! Time to go take a dip in the pool ! epoh2007-06-30 09:05:29
  9. Only two ladies, Minette from the Harmony club that is holding up with the boys and a standard bank tannie that did not start today.
  10. yoyo! Yeah, there is about 40 road and 40 mtn bikers here by the sound of things. The numbers are about equal. They could have done lots more in terms of advertising etc. I reckon they should start with giving their web site a face lift. I had a look at the prices for accommodation, if you share with your team mates its not that bad but yeh they need to work on it to get the price down. There are a few minor issues but otherwise everything is going very well so far. The marshalling is brilliant, breakfast, lunch and dinner is free and the food is great. The roads are awesome to ride on. The area is brilliant and the weather is stunning! If you want to have a race in winter, this is the place to have it. I think we hit 27 degrees at one point today and this morning at 6 was 12 degrees. I came because I grew up in this area and I just got gatvol of the *** weather in Gauteng. My legs are really stuffed and I am suffering big time. I think too much racing and too little rest, usual story . And also a lack of hours in the saddle as a result of the *** weather in JHB. I am still in two minds whether I want to start tomorrow's stage, which is going to be a killer. I might just take the day off. I am not going to ride 160km over the Agatha climb by myself. Davel and the HiQ okes must have fun and sort each other out tomorrow. As Cruxie said, Davel won the prologue. The first stage was won by Pavlov (HiQ), Davel 2nd (Panda) and I think Nico Bell (HiQ) took third. HiQ attacked Davel on Magoebas but could not shake him off. HiQ might be in yellow which suits Davel's aggressive riding style better. time to rest, laters
  11. Jason, I reckon Crux should get a track bike If he train to sustain that type of power he will be a force to reckon with on the track.

  19. I am also giving my opinion and I am not discrediting your product, all I am asking is for the science behind the product and some proof to back up what you are saying about it. Right now, you haven't given me anything and you haven't answered my questions in the previous post. As the consumer, understand that if you are serious about your health you are not just going to buy any tom dick and harry's products. Why should I change from a reputable product with a multi million dollar backing to a one man band show? Quality products of this nature require expensive laboratories and factories with well defined standards, policies and procedures. I am not sure this product has it? Maybe it has, but I haven't seen any proof. Thanks for the diet tips but there is nothing wrong with my diet. What I meant was in general I am gatvol of people wasting their money on k@k products and them thinking they are getting something out of it. Look, I think you can give Kevin Evans water and he will still beat most people. epoh2007-05-25 00:26:40
  20. Dude, there are lots of companies focusing on cycling and endurance sports. Do yourself a favor, go and look at www.firstendurance.com. They sponsor both Gerolsteiner and Discovery and are very focused on cycling. First Endurance has a product called Optygen. I could not believe what a difference that stuff makes. I dont joke if I say it had a 15% increase in my performance. But I cannot see how it is different from other performance enhancing products and I would not be surprised or mind if they ban it. They dont seem to market it in SA anymore and I havent bothered to order it off the net. I am not biased and I might give your product a go. epoh2007-05-24 03:06:01
