  1. Resting is about 56 at the moment - the lowest I've ever taken is 53 when I was uber-fit (well in my opinion anyway ). Maxed at 219 one day doing intervals - but then it drops back down to "normal" pretty quickly too. I'm going with muddy p - some of us just run on a higher revving motor. You sure the 219 is accurate? That is a bit high...

    Broken Spokes

This race looks damn dangerous, I am sure I will be near the front for most of the race . Adolph can sprint so you better watch that kid

    Broken Spokes

Thanks guys, I will follow up on your advice. Pantani give me those wheels :-) After doing an intense investigation myself and working around the clock we should be making an arrest within the next few days. The suspect is completely unknown to me and I managed to track him down :-) The biatch stole the wrong guy's card.
  4. What do I do with a wheel that has got a couple of broken spokes? I bumped into a friend's back wheel with my front wheel this past weekend in the IFM race and it ripped out a few spokes . Do I throw it away or is it possible to fix it? I can't believe the bad luck I have had so far this year... and its only the 8th today . Last week they stole one of my expensive guitars, Saturday they stole my credit card and ran it up into the thousands before I found out and Sunday two near crashes on the bike. Am I jinxed? Too scared to leave the house, I took two days leave to figure out wtf is going on.
  5. CSC's Cerv?lo tops the list for the second year running!

  7. Word has it dat dit Fullard was wat hom in 19min geklap het ?
  9. That is just very very sad news!
  10. ek dink die soweto womans team gaan almal gas gee volgende jaar
  11. shot I will go see Kakaaaaaaaaaaaaa again
  12. yeah well, i am just very skeptical about all this.. i have been cycling now since feb of this year without following any program or whatsoever and in some races (tough ones) where i was well rested I rode good times and places (top 5)..This was in A open category and some races with the elites (not near top 5 in this cat) where i could sneak in. And don't think for one moment the competition is not tough in jhb . I do not have time to train a lot, but when i train i train hard. Sure, I was in an over trained state for most of the year.. but man.. usually after a couple of days rest i would ride well . They all tune me they train with this program and that power and they been cycling for this and that long.. but I still give 'em a hard time anyway So if i train with power/structured program i will improve more ???
  13. Well let's say you are very fit and your max hr is 190 and you train at avg. 165 regardless of how you feel for 2 hours over a very undulating road.. chances are that you are probably training at a relatively high intensity.. Not really sure what you are getting at here.. but in fact your point does demonstrate why HR training is flawed - in your scenario you may well be fatigued and as such putting out a relatively low power for the HR or effort level you are riding at. This is how many people ride themselves into a hole of fatigue. If on the other hand' date=' you are riding to a set range of power - then if you are too tired to achieve this level then you know that rest might be a good idea today.. Lets break it down - if you know what your threshold power is you can then calculate training zones to elicit certain training effects. If you then set out on a session to achieve a certain training effect, let's say to increase aerobic endurance - then you can set out to ride in the zone that will elicit that response. The HR response to that is not really of any relevance because, if you are able to ride for the desired duration in the correct zone, then the training effect will be achieved. [/quote'] I agree with you there. Although I do not train with power or follow a training program for that matter, I understand the very basic principles of power training. Thx to you and Bruch All I am saying is you will be training at some level of intensity based on the scenario I posted, whether you are fatigued or not. Whether it will be of any benefit to you is another question.

  15. lets look at my diet today... muesli breakfast in the morning (milk, oats, muesly, nuts, banana)...green tea...fruit salad for lunch + some almonds...rooibos tea... 1pm pear... green tea...3pm red apple..rooibos tea... tonight some pasta with fresh tomato, avacado and tuna...tomorrow morning get up early and ride balls to the wall ... trust me dude you will loose a lot of weight this way...and struggle for energy in the process...
  16. Anyone keen for a hilly ride early tomorrow morning before work ? Got a few steady climbs that JHB has to offer in mind I think we will tackle at least two at a reasonable pace... one near Sylvia's pass, and another up Linksfield ridge. Each easily 1km long at 10% avg. gradient. Might throw in another one or two along the way Set off at 5:00am
  17. yeah, it was a massive jol! There is nothing like a well organised House Party All the cyclist dudes took it real easy though At 2:30am when the coppers busted us I stunned them by being as crystal clear as the waters of a tropical island
  18. It was our Ghetto Fabulous party, check the pics and you will know what the white linen was used for... just haven't cleaned up properly after the party http://tinyurl.com/y9p4tw
  19. OUCH!! 5Hrs at Suikerbos and no sunblock How you feeling today Zaskar ? http://www.nudle.org/images/zaskar_suikerbos_no_sunblock.jpg
  20. Me and Zaskar rode a hard two lapper at Suikerbosrand. Have to download the pics from my cam (will post tom ) Zaskar got toasted in the sun It was a tough two laps, the harder the better Sunday I stayed at home and did not do much, recovered. I will train again tonight. IanJ and Sonic did one lap, pretty good ride considering Sonic has been off the bike for a while. Also met another hubber along the way Thoyolo (I think ) Next weekend ill probably be training Magoebaskloof.
