  1. i believe valverde only recently started training with a power meter.. must be kinda crap for other riders on the pro tour that have been actively following power training programs etc. and getting their assess kicked by someone that did not pay attention to all this stuff before .
  2. So the fact that the muscles in my legs got bigger since i started cycling doesnt mean they are stronger? And next time you see a dude flying past you on a climb you cant say"sh*t that dude is strong?" You should rather say "sh*t that dude has got efficient muscles?"
  3. let's take another scenario.. let's say you have a 30 year old dude that has been in a wheelchair for 15 years and he has got a very well developed CV system from playing non stop wheelchair basketball. Tomorrow the dude wakes up and he realizes he has got some feeling back in his legs...he realises damn! he would soon be able to walk again and maybe even take up cycling... So after 4 weeks he has got some muscle back from doing a bit of spinning etc...Now my point is if you put that dude on a bicycle he is gonna fall over with his uber dooper CV system within the first 5km because he has got very little muscle and very little muscle strength to go with it...
  4. understood.. but both have a very well developed CV system ? Doesn't it come down to strength then? The cyclist will be "stronger" in his sport because his muscles are better developed for his turf? Either are going to be stronger in their respective sport because either have developed specific muscles. The cyclist's muscles would automatically be "weaker" for running, despite the fact that he also has a well developed CV system ?? Im a bit confused..cannot see how it comes down to CV and not also include muscle strength.
  5. but, let's say you take like a kenian marathon runner that most likely has a very well developed CV system and you put him on that climb with that gear ratio against a pro cyclist climber..he should then compete well against the cyclist?
  6. What does it come down to when you ride up a 10km big climb at say 10% avg gradient in your 53/11 ? Muscle strength and CV capacity or just CV capacity?
  7. He used to sell Merida ? Is he not selling them anymore ?
  8. Illovo cycles is in your vicinity.. I bought my bikes elsewhere but everything else I need I do at Illovo cycles. Like services etc.
  9. More regular, hard and intense training on the bike and you won't cramp easily. Your body adapts to what you throw at it over time and become more efficient at utilizing what you put into it. Last time I cramped was at the Jock and that was because my friend got lost on his bike and i ended up without water/food at the 90km mark and started dehydrating/camping. I hanged on for 60km and juuuuuust made it.. cramps and all in the scorching mpumalanga sun AHEHheHA! I would suggest more intense training on the bike and more endurance rides.
  10. Just follow Cruxie's advice - focus on something in front of you..and it was as simple as that. Thanks Cruxie! i got on them for the first time before a race and did like 30min before the start..after a few min i was riding comfortably..awesome for warming up before a race.
  11. i'll give that one a skip .. thanks anyways scotty! im in the mood for suikerbos!

  14. Goat's milk is very healthy and it also digests much quicker than cow's milk. But I reckon if you weren't brought up on it you ain't gonna like it.
  15. stuff the cavemen we have evolved! The cavemen's avg life expectancy was probably 35 Okay if you take the dinosaurs out of the equation maybe 40. Find out what Moses was on!! That dude lived up to 845 years or some crazy sh*t old age.
  16. That's a rumor. I ride a Soloist Carbon and its awesome. I have never had a problem with it. I find it's aerodynamics are perfect for South African roads. If you can afford the Carbon, knock yourself out.
