  1. Anyone up for a long ride until you bonk this weekend? Maybe on Saturday? Then on Sunday the Midvaal race and a lap at Suikerbossie? Anyone keen?
  2. I am not exactly sure when I am going to take leave as I am quite busy at work at the moment. Maybe I will go to Knysna middle of December until next year sometime and train by myself or maybe to the Durbs area as there is a mutual interest to get to know someone a bit better

  4. What is your vote ?, I reckon Discovery but not for long... From ivanbasso.net Ivan Basso hopes that he will have the opportunity to return to Team CSC in the future. ?Bjarne and I parted as friends,? the former Team CSC star states in a recent interview with Danish daily Politiken. ?And I hope that I will be able to return. We concluded that it would be best to part for the moment, but there is nothing that rules out that we may pick up our cooperation at a latter date.? Ivan Basso also expresses understanding for the conduct of Bjarne Riis over the past couple of months. ?I do not believe that Bjarne wanted to treat me poorly. He was forced to act as he had done. I know and understand that he has the well-being of the whole team to think off,? Basso comments. Basso admits that right after the suspension from the Tour de France, he felt very unfairly treated. ?I feel that at the very least we (the riders accused) should have had the chance to let our lawyers review the case, before a decision of such significance for a rider be taken.? Ivan Basso confirmed that he is still looking for a team, although he noted that if he were only interested in money, he would already have signed a contract. However, he is delaying the decision while studying the circumstances of the various teams he is considering. Giovanni Lombardi, Basso?s teammate at Team CSC who is retiring after this season, has confirmed that he intends to start working as an rider agent in the future. Among the riders that he is likely to be representing are, in addition to Ivan Basso, also Franck and Andy Schleck. epoh2006-10-24 23:41:38
  5. Sorry to hear that, I thought I saw SP coming in, it was obviously someone else. All the best and a speedy recovery! there was a crash in the A bunch as well. Some dumbass dude did not keep his line and crossed another rider and took a few riders down. Not sure if it was serious as I was near the front of the bunch when it happened.

  8. Lance inspired me to start cycling...LA all the way!!!
  9. From news24.co.za 'Lance's dirty secrets' 18/10/2006 16:51 - (SA) http://www.news24.com/News24v2/Images/tsp.gif http://www.news24.com/News24v2/Images/tsp.gif Paris - A new book which claims to further lift the lid on some of the dirtier secrets of Lance Armstrong's successful cycling career will go on sale in France on Thursday. The seven-time Tour de France champion is now retired, but a second book by Pierre Ballester and David Walsh - authors of the controversial "LA Confidentiel" two and a half years ago - claims to shed new light on their allegations that Armstrong's feats came through the use of doping products. Extracts of "LA Officiel", which like the first book has been written only in French, will appear in Thursday's edition of Le Monde newspaper. The book is centred mainly around an October 2005 legal dispute between Armstrong and an American insurance company, SCA. On the basis of allegations in the first book by the pair, "LA Confidentiel", SCA tried to pull out of a contract they had made with Armstrong in 2001, and according to which they would pay him $9.5m if he went on to win the Tour in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004. SCA went on to lose the dispute with Armstrong, who in the face of several allegations over the years has always vigorously denied cheating. In the new book the testimony of Australian doctor Michael Ashenden, a former Australian Institute of Sport scientist who is credited with creating a blood test to uncover blood boosting drug EPO (erythropoietin), suggests otherwise. Some doctors had previously stated that the American's recovery from cancer, his change of morphology and his extraordinary lung and heart capacities were the key to Armstrong's almost superhuman endeavours. 'Armstrong used doping products' However Ashenden says in the book that Armstrong's lung and heart capacities are not "exceptionally high", and added: "There's no doubt: he (Armstrong) used doping products." The book also uses the testimony of Frankie Andreu, a former teammate of Armstrong's who recently claimed he used EPO in 1999 when riding with Motorola. Andreu's wife Betsy also appears. She was also a key witness in SCA's dispute with Armstrong, whom she claimed to have heard admitting that he had used banned doping products prior to contracting cancer, in 1996. The book's co-author, Pierre Ballester, said their aim was not a relentless pursuit of Armstrong. "It's a vital addition to an inquiry which throws the spotlight back on claims which in the past tried to reveal Armstrong's personality," Ballester told AFP. "(He is) a rider whose career has been characterised by lies and cheating, but who nonetheless left the sport unsanctioned, unblemished and untouchable." The 236 pages of "L A Officiel", which will go on sale Thursday in France, are bound to cause controversy. However it remains to be seen if Armstrong takes any legal action for defamation. The 35-year-old American, who is set to run the New York marathon in November, pulled out of an initial threat to sue the authors in France over their first book.
  10. I have got a lot of respect for Bjarne Riis as he has just lost a very talented rider that could no doubt give his team the Tour De France victory they are looking for. And for Basso, although there do not appear to be any conclusive evidence against him yet, it has certainly dented his reputation and I am sure a lot of people will hate him when he comes back and start winning races again! I just pray that it is not with Discovery, then he will certainly be the most hated. Odd scenario - "Johan Bruyneel making eye contact with Bjarne Riis when Basso is standing on top of the podium as the overall 2007 TDF winner in Discovery kit" ouch!
  11. no one in my family cycles and none of my friends either. My dad enjoys to come along to the races though. Just not enough of them in Polokwane. My friends thought I am a bit nuts but then changed their minds when they saw me change from a fat ass in February to a more slimmer me now :-)
  12. Dude, can I come visit ?
  13. Bjarne Riis met up with me earlier today to offer me a contract but I obviously had to turn it down because I am already cycling for the best team in the world On a more serious note Bjarne is not the best speaker when it comes to talking to the public/press and did not have much to say. Ironically he looked a bit exhausted from talking to the press before coming to the event. He talked a bit about his team and gave a few reasons why he believes they are so successful etc. If you have seen the documentary Overcoming you will know all about what Bjarne believes in etc. Andrew asked Bjarne a couple of good questions...On Basso he did not say anything but said he hopes to make a public anouncement very soon. Andrew joked with him and said that he should sign Robbie and Ryan and in reply Bjarne said that he has been talking to them over the last few month's. CSC will be training in Cape Town in December and they are bringing all their staff and riders over here, 74 people in total. I reckon it is good publicity for our country to have the best cycling team in the world training here and for everyone including Cyclelab who negotiated the deal and opened Bjarne Riis to South Africa, well done Finally, Epoh and Bjarne Riis! http://www.nudle.org/images/epoh_bjarne_riis.jpgepoh2006-10-16 15:11:50
  14. Who is going to the cocktail party tonight hosted by Cyclelab for their club members to meet Bjarne Riis ?

  17. Dankie Meneer... Nou weet ek hoekom die ouens EPO vat . Om 3 weke 150+ km's te doen is net siek. Dit was beslis nie n LSD nie. Wel hang af hoe jy LSD define... LONG SUPERFAST DISTANCE. My average was 31kph.
  18. Thanks to Cruxie for offering up his Saturday to support us, dankie Carel. It was great meeting everyone although I didnt talk much . Did not feel so good but after 50km I was sharp . Btw. Was there prize money for this LSD ride? Phen and the others took off like the elite riders they are . What the heck, when we doing it again?
  19. haha!
