  1. Was thinking around the lines of what Dan Bigham can improve from, since Remco`s position is so good. Spez being the clothing sponsor if there is possible gains from current setup?
  2. Some special projects planned with Remco at Red Bull to go for the hour record? Some weird and wild TT bike that is not UCI legal! Would be interesting the follow the improvements for Remco with him joining Red Bull.
  3. This is awesome!! Surprise to see someone with more dogs than our family😆
  4. My old Giant TCR is on the indoor trainer, size 50, my eldest son, also 8, ride on the bike to see if he can ride faster! He fits, the reach is a stretch! Short stem should sort that, currently a 100mm stem. Ons is kort gatte, ek self 1.70m. Small should be fine.
  5. My take on going for expierence…remember the Alan fall out going to Rio. https://www.treadmtb.co.za/rio-games-mens-xco-race-how-reid-and-hatherly-will-fare/ That Rio expierence brought us Saffa’s a two time world champ. Ps. The link is broken for the controversy, if I recall Philip Buys was left of the team in favour of Alan.
  6. Thanks @Shebeen my old skedonk will not fit in with the crowd.
  7. Been a casual lone runner for years, enjoy going out on my own, early in the mornings. Last cycle or run event was in 2015, training nowadays is for health and sanity. What is the feedback on the Cape Crusade Trail?
  8. At what speed can you travel with these vertical racks? My wife`s car is also an H6, same tow hitch. We use my very old Thule Euro Way from 2002, but also need a new rack to take 4 bikes.
  9. Just be lekka! We all have bicycles in common, surely we can be more considerate.
  10. https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/road-bikes/715663/rc7000-microsoft-edition?srsltid=AfmBOop_w_8vyVc2AeeaeEYuQV_4hzxm0l4iGNpz3f-XkSxUIvG_UQFC see above, was thinking these raleighs, although not full carbon the seatstay looks alike.
  11. I would go with Daccordi, based on the rear triangle, especially the seat stay junction. Even reminds me of the Daccordi frames branded as Raleigh in the 2000`s.
  12. @ChrisF, I`ve definitely change my mind after seeing the Giant. 20inch to 26inch to 29er. Longer on the 20inch and onto the small Giant 26inch. With 3 boys lesson learned the youngest will be the test dummy.
  13. Is it possible to stretch the 20inch for another 6 months to grow into the 26? The parts on the Giant, you will not get another bike with that spec for that money. I`m also tempted, the 8 year old will fit nicely, my problem is the 5 year old wanting to step up to the 24inch...
  14. @AgentFlashwas going to reply last week and could just not make time. We had our 3rd Northern Cape Schools league, being NC another 800km round trip for the family. However my advice, changed over the weekend. We went Titanracing 20inch, Titanracing 24inch. At the the time looking at 26 options, even woman xs size their was a 10cm height difference I felt we could not bridge. The eldest is now 8 riding the 24 inch since he was 6 1/2, the bike fits nice, he is in control of the bike, brakes, gears and getting on and off. Did the training lap with the boys and there were many boys on 26ers from parents, with saddle as low as possible, that could not get off safely and causing a few falls on the route for other riders as well. My reply last week was not to skip a size, we have the luxury of three boys, the bike will not go to waste BUT over the weekend shopping for the 4 year old a new 20inch, since the 5 year old is on the hand me down 20inch, I saw this: https://giant-bicycles.co.za/products/stp-26-metallic-black?available%20colours=metallic%20black&available%20sizes=regular Available in two frame sizes, the boys were asleep already to measure and see if it will fit. For the price, I think it is a good buy, jumping from 20 to 26.
  15. The top two GC guys will be going for it today, definitely Jonas and team Visma. Ben H to my mind is a stage hunter from the break away on hilly terrain. The yellow does give one the strength of ten cyclist, thinking Tommy V, but the stage is different with the phenomena of TP and JV.
  16. Also of opinion Louis did good this year with Giro and Dauphine, going to Vuelta...to me it looks like a final year program.
  17. @Sid the Slothplease show a close up of that chainring?
  18. @ChrisFit is probably both contributing. Personally the gym session made a big difference in my cycling at an older age.
  19. @Eugene Oppeltyou have seen through my post! Last year I asked about your clothing for the winter...I tried but failed. Was planning to comment on your Tuesday post of "where has your bike taken you". In awe of your mental resolute. I love cycling, running is hard work to me, not enjoying as much but perhaps the gateway to enjoy my cycling when the summer arrives.
  20. @milky4130which is harder Two Oceans or Comrades silver lining? Laat question, how did teh running effect your cycling? Looking to find out if serious run training can replace cycling and if you will still be able to pitch and do a decent effort on the bike. Once again congrats on the effort.
  21. Congrats on your race. Respect!! Wear your medal with pride.
  22. On Pinkbike they showed Alan`s bike with the new XTR. The new crank is growing on me...
  23. @Irvin85it is Louis riding style. I read a few years back that he feels comfortable at the back and spend less energy than fighting for position higher up in the peloton being small in stature. I`m in agreement with your view. Guess that Louis will be doing the La Vuelta this year, will always support Louis, but perhaps it is worth trying to position himself higher up. His last Giro was in 2018, perhaps this is his final year.
  24. Yes he went into two breaks. The one break stayed away and his DS recalled him.... The second break he was in it until 20km to go. I know he has not had a top 10 result, but to me he is racing more aggressively, some TV time and end of the day he is still up there. I always bench mark Louis against Nairo, the game moved on, their top 20`s now is as good as top 10 few years back. For his future, sure he will get a ride but not as a protected rider, unfortunately I do not see him as a super dom, so unfortunately it will be a second tier team. If he decide to hang up the wheels, good for him, he can be proud of his career. Ps. Coming from the most vocal critic of Louis riding style.
  25. @Jbrwas in a similar position a few years back, my wife actually. We proceeded to report the case with SAPS, starting looking on the internet and found people in the same position as us. We all made cases with SAPS, we had a very good detective, willing to drive the process and combine the cases, in excess of 40. Took 7 days leave and track the individual, gave the details to SAPS and he was arrested and the rest is history. Will I do it again, Yes, but be careful, it consumed our lives for 9 months.
