  1. All this talk of Fire Hut got me up there for the first time in a long while. Jonkershoek was showing off this morning. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  2. Indeed, but my view on quotas is that they exist, so quota players exist as well. You get quota players that are there on merit too. Beast is one of them, but in saying that, he is not our strongest scrummer. I would have Beast come off the bench rather than Kitshoff as Beast adds more in lose play. 3. So did the Minister of Sport give SA rugby an exemption to having to pick at least 50% of the squad based on race? That would be good news indeed! Ps: you can be there on merit too, but for as long as the Sports Ministry has a say in selection, quotas will exist. We can pretend that they don’t, but that would be like telling ourselves that cycling is a clean sport. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  4. Ok so job done. We have an unassailable series lead. I’d like to see a few changes for the Newlands test. Kitshoff in place of Beast (gingers should be considered as quota players too [emoji6]) Kriel in place of De Allende Steyn in place of Le Roux Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  5. Its that time of the year again... some good base miles this week, as the weather is looking good and wet this weekend. The Helderberg and Boland is so colorful this time of the year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  6. Yesterday’s ride in the Simonsberg conservancy was just perfect. It remains one of my favorite rides. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

    Who remembers?

Jip. Evenings and weekends I am watching this (and Viki, Brakkenjan, Nils Holgersohn and many other gems) with my laaitie on Showmax. Good times! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  8. Another factor in the online buy and sell space is Facebook’s buy and sell groups. You see more and more speciality and luxury items in these groups and being able to buy from or sell to someone with a social media presence (stalk them before you engage!) helps with credibility. Bikehub has seen an increase of users simply registering to sell unwanted cycling gear opposed to active members buying and selling. Furthermore there are more “shops” buying and selling on Bikehub. What was meant to be a direct channel to the consumer now grew an extra leg, with extra overheads and margin required. We therefore see the same items for months on end in some instances opposed to real movement in the classifieds. My prediction is that gumtree / olx will die off due to the emergence and evolution of the FB marketplace. Bikehub’s classifieds may also become a topic in the “remember when... “ thread in years to come. I have found that items priced to sell often moves quickly and without too much haggling. 9. So is it another version of Esels? I’ll rather wait Esels then. Mid Aug could be cold and wet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  10. I’m guessing that they haven’t nailed down routes, timing or any of the other important stuff yet. Anyone here that can vouch for the organizers? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  11. Let me know if you need a (slow)guide. I’ll be happy to show you around. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  12. Its been a rough week so far. I’m thankful for the lovely sunshine and the opportunity to have a quick ride this morning. Helderberg Farm. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  13. Saved me a post here. To add: let the e bikers organize e bike races and then allow regular bikes as well rather than the other way around. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  14. Its a bit more technical than Conties Blue and it is a bit more up and down as well. I prefer a long drag up and then going down like a load of bricks like Conties, but its nice to get a variety of riding in as well. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  15. They have various trails that goes up to 25km in length (black route). I did the red that is 15km in length with 320m of climbing. I would say 70% is single track, 30% jeep track on the red. It is mostly not too technical, but there are 2 or 3 places that can be tricky. These are well marked with danger signs. I enjoy the trails as the missus and kids can chill at the restaurant while I ride and there are showers if you want to clean up afterwards. They are kiddie friendly with pony rides and a nice play area as well. Trail fees are R50. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  18. I did it last year. I visit Greyton quite often and enjoy the trails. The race has a few sections that is normally not accessible to the public. Greyton itself is great for a weekend away as well with good restaurants, a lovely market for the non-cyclists on the Saturday and some good art galleries and craft shops as well. 19. How do you feel about Ski-lifts (on the Northern Hemisphere of course) and bakkie-shuttles (at home of course). Are those guys also not ‘pure cyclists’? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  22. Mont Marie on a crisp Autumn morning. Its my favorite time of the year... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  23. As things stand right now we are very light in the All Rounder department. For us to be truly competitive in the shorter formats we need a good bowling all rounder that can smash 40 off 15 balls towards the end of an innings for us. Morris is probably our best bet to do this, so lets hope that Otis and the coaching staff works with him on his batting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  24. A solid day out for the Proteas. Bavuma got close to another 100. Maharaj played positively to push the scoring along and our quicks in particular looked like taking wickets all afternoon. I risk getting ahead of myself, but if we can get the last 4 wickets in the morning session, I’d let them follow on and then try and deliver the Coup de Grace tomorrow so they can get an early flight home. Just an observation: is it my imagination or did the animosity that marred the series so far disappear from the field in this test? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
