  1. Ek dink ook nog..... First attempt 2015....FIRES!!! 2016 F@ck it cause I'm still to disappointed. 2017 Let's give it another go......WIND!!! And now I don't know if I can handle anymore disappointment again. Sent from my SM-J111F using Tapatalk
  2. I also got to get another one of those bars. I've got one on my bike at the moment, but stupidly cut it down to 720mm when I originally fitted it as I thought that was all I needed. Now I seek at least an extra 20mm on each side. Sent from my SM-J111F using Tapatalk
  3. Got home from work slightly earlier than usual this afternoon and managed to get out slightly earlier for a ride. The extra daylight and the warmer temperatures made it a great evening out on the bike even though my legs were still a bit sore from yesterday. Sent from my SM-J111F using Tapatalk
  4. Lekker kiekies BSG.[emoji106] Sent from my SM-J111F using Tapatalk
  5. I had a hard time getting out of bed this morning. I eventually left the house at 9am and went for a 50km ride round the farms outside town. It truly was a beautifull winters day in the Western Cape. [emoji108] Some of the local farm animals were very interested in my bike.......I think they have great taste. 7. Ek is verskriklik sleg met vroeg op staan, ek sal eerder saans na werk gaan ry.Naweke moet ek soggens ry, maar probeer dit dan tot bietjie later, so 7uur, uit stel. Sent from my SM-J111F using Tapatalk
  8. Have only had one ride this week, as I've been kept busy with other stuff in the evenings. Hoping to get out on the bike tomorrow, but by the current look of things its ganna be a late ride. Here's some pics from my ride on Thursday evening, was great to have some daylight for more than 10 minutes as longer days are slowly approaching. Sent from my SM-J111F using Tapatalk
  9. A little rumble in the jungle. [emoji6]If you don't push your limits you'll never know where they are hey. Sent from my SM-J111F using Tapatalk
  10. Good on you Chris, keep on trying and you'll get there eventually. As we say in Afrikaans, "aanhouer wen!". Just remember it doesn't get easier, you just get faster. [emoji109] Sent from my SM-J111F using Tapatalk
  11. I feel your pain bro, have had the same issues before as well as bike being blown over as our beautifull Breederiver Valley rarely does not have wind.[emoji100] Sent from my SM-J111F using Tapatalk
  12. That depends on what mileage you see as acceptable on a tyre. I commute daily on my Mtb aswell 4km to work and 4km back on tar and I'd say about 40% of my training is also on tar. I've managed to get about 3000km's out of a Barzo at the front in the past. Currently on a have a R/Ron on there and its also looking good at about 1500km's and its stil looking good for another 1500km's. This isn't what you'll get out of a Maxxis Ikon or Crossmark, but I love the grip of these tyres and I'm willing to sacrifice mileage for it. If you're looking for good mileage rather stick with the Ikon's and just swap the front for a wider 2.35 model for better grip. Sent from my SM-J111F using Tapatalk
  13. Riding in the dark is only fun till it gets cold.... Fortunately the days are slowly getting longer.☺ Sent from my SM-J111F using Tapatalk
  14. It is definitely something to get use to, but clipping out becomes second nature eventually , usually after a few funny falls [emoji85] . Good luck with it.[emoji106] Sent from my SM-J111F using Tapatalk
  15. Hi Eddy, funny thing, I've tried out flats before and felt completely detached from the bike, I on the other habd will be sticking to clips. Sent from my SM-J111F using Tapatalk
  16. I agree with Bosbrommer, the Vittoria Barzo/Saguaro combo is my favourite aswell. Very good grip, low rolling resistance and you get good milage on them. I'm currently running a Schwalbe Rocket Ron on the front and I'm quite impressed with the grip, but I will be going back to Barzo when the Ron is worn out. Sent from my SM-J111F using Tapatalk
  17. Not kind of, not sort of, exactly the right thread to post my bike on![emoji6] Sent from my SM-J111F using Tapatalk
  18. Did a bit of dirt roadie riding with a pinch of jeep track today. Enjoyed some sublime weather with views for days.[emoji108] Sent from my SM-J111F using Tapatalk
  19. No problem dude. Dont throw away that Ikon 2.2 yet though , plenty of guys have finished stuff like the Epic on those. They might not exactly be great for downhill , but thats not what your doing. Sent from my SM-J111F using Tapatalk
  20. I'm with Myles on this one, I know for a fact the Ardent 2.4 fits in the fork that comes on the Scale and it has bigger knobs than the Ardent Race.It is at the back that the problem lies, the Scale frame does not allow for a wide tyre to fit in the rear. Sent from my SM-J111F using Tapatalk
  21. Hi Andrew, sounds like you might be a little over inflated, I run about the same tyre presures and I weight about 95kg, not on Icons thought.I know of lighter riders who even run their pressure as low as 1.2bar. I would suggest you start experimenting with dropping your pressure by 0.2bar at time to see if it improves your grip. You can also try wider on the front, something like the Maxxis Icon 2.35 wich will keep rolling resistance low or go to a grippier tread like the Maxxis Ardent, the Vittoria Barzo (personal favourite), or Schwalbe Rocket Ron. But first experiment with pressures before throwing money at the problem. Sent from my SM-J111F using Tapatalk

  24. Met up with a fellow hubber in Gansbay over the weekend and went riding on some of his usual routes round Baardskeerdersbos . This is a beautifull area to ride in, if you know where to go.Thanks Suidwes Boytjie for showing me around, always great to meet fellow hubbers. Sent from my SM-J111F using Tapatalk
  25. Not from today, but from Friday night. The colder weather lately has been screwing with my training and with the climbing challenge on Strava I've had to start putting in more climbing in shorter rides to try and catch up. Also can't remember when last I rode a bike in daylight , other than my commute home. Will be at it again tomorrow , climbing in the dark. Sent from my SM-J111F using Tapatalk
