  1. Actually, all of the Canis since late last year (When the FRC was launched as an option on the Canis) have been FRC Much more durable and supportive casing.
  2. One thing to point out too is to remember warranty only covers the first owner. Though this may be a contentious issue, this is part of the value add in purchasing new VS used. BUUUUUUUT, we still want to know who all of our "Santa Cruz" owners are, hence the owners club
  3. I don't even know what Survival is... But at least you're sorted
  4. Hi Phenning The official answer is that owners are supposed to register their bikes within 90 days of purchase... the Blur has not been manufactured for some time, and thus does not appear on the list. Additionally, its also part of the "Frames purchased prior to May 1, 2015 will be covered under the previously existing 5 year warranty. Warranties do not cover custom finishes." That being said, from our side, registration has never really been promoted in the SA market so its a new thing for a lot of Santa Cruz and Juliana owners. We are wanting to collect ALL Santa Cruz and Juliana owner info so that we can streamline and review service, make the correct spares available, and have a database of owners who we can include (if they opt in) in event invites such as demo days, owner rides etc. I've sent an email to the digital department at Santa Cruz regarding your particular situation. I can't promise a swift answer, but I will update when I can as I am sure you will not be the first with this question. In the mean-time, if you want to be added to our Santa Cruz database, I can add your details manually. Just pop me a DM and I will advise.
  5. ^^ Latex definitely isn't the "be all", its just far superior at sealing small holes within the tyre casing.
  6. I hear you, and I'm glad the store replaced the first set for you. As far as leaking through the sidewall from new, remember almost all tyres on the market these days are "tubeless ready", the days of UST tyres are done. Tubeless ready essentially means a tubeless bead to seal up against the rim, with a lightweight casing that requires sealant in order to seal any porous holes. Due to variation in the rubber penetration / adhesion to the casing / carcass in manufacture this can vary from one tyre to the next, even out of the same production run. Another thing to take into consideration is sealant, now while a thicker sealant "may" work more effectively to seal larger sidewall cuts, generally its consistency is too thick to seal these small porous holes within the casing that are easily sealed by thinner latex sealants. One of the biggest difficulties we have in pinpointing these "problems" is the huge variety of sealants prevalent in the SA market, not to mention the "home made" styles, and "value" products that are often purchased in huge volumes for the workshop. Sealant itself is also a complicated issue... as I mentioned, too thick and it doesn't seal small holes, but too thin, or not with sufficient binding agents / latex etc and it doesn't work either. As a sealant supplier ourselves, we insist on not producing or offering sealant in QTY larger than 2.5l as anything larger than this is simply impossible to shake adequately in order to properly distribute and mix the particles contained within the sealant. Additionally, we outright refuse to compromise the performance of our sealant by manipulating the recipe and reducing some of the costly ingredients. Bottom line: ensure rim and rim tape are in good condition and clean prior to mounting. Use a good quality latex sealant. Pump to the MFG suggest pressure. Ensure the tyre is correctly and evenly seated. Shake and rotate the tyre to distribute the sealant. After all this you may experience a drop in pressure for the first day or two, and in-between long periods of inactivity, but this is completely normal.
  7. Issue is combination of sealant and tyre. You need a latex based sealant, the thicker sealant will not work effectively to line the tyre DM me if you need any advise or have any issues further, but we will get you sorted.
  8. Can you DM me your email address and I'll ask the friendly Santa Cruz folk in the US to assign your details to my profile?

  13. Here's some weekend reading on the topic (exam is on Monday) VPP: https://www.santacruzbicycles.com/en-US/virtual-pivot-point-vpp-suspension-design Axle Path: https://www.santacruzbicycles.com/en-US/news/344 Instant Centre Migration: https://www.santacruzbicycles.com/en-US/news/346
  14. One day... and this is not the forum for it, we will go into an explanation on suspension designs and their benefits. There are some pretty common misconceptions out there and "false" truths about various bikes and designs. The orientation of the shock has little to no impact on the pedaling, breaking or bump absorbing performance of the bike. The engineering and mechanics is a far more complex explanation, but needs to take into account the instant centre, chain torque, rider centre of gravity etc. Long and short in respect to Santa Cruz, is that the suspension design uses what is called a virtual pivot which is created as a result of the counter rotating links, one of which is also used to drive the shock. The orientation of the shock has zero effect on the suspension efficiency as this is determined by the linkage.
  15. Definitely! I want a photo of that for the archives too please?!
  16. Thats not the worst of them I'm afraid... but thanks for the effort!
  17. We want ALL Santa Cruz customers to register! FAQ:What happens if I'm not the first owner? We want to encourage every Santa Cruz owner to register their frame online, regardless of whether they are the first owner or not. The warranty is only valid for the first owner, however we will assess and assist every claim that is raised on a registered frame, and our intention is to assist and support ALL Santa Cruz owners. So, what you need to do is create a word doc that gives a basic explanation of how / where and when you purchased your bike, and then follow the regular registration process and use this word doc as the file you upload as your proof of purchase / receipt.
  18. Keep your eyes peeled. We've only assumed the agency from 1st Jan, bikes are on the water at the moment with ETA 2rd week of Feb, and the first events to kick off from the end of this month. We will be listing upcoming demo and other events here: https://www.rushsports.co.za/pages/demo-tour and here: https://www.santacruzbicycles.com/en-ZA/south-african-demo-tour
  19. Imana: where metal goes to die!
  20. To answer your question more thoroughly, yes, it does indeed warn you to "contact your region's distributor to make a bearing warranty claim" if you are outside this US, this is merely to simplify the process and direct through the local distributor. However, as you may have seen, we have fully integrated with Santa Cruz and Juliana on localized sites which means ALL claims generated work through our CRM system if the user selects his / her country as South Africa. So, as the post indicated, if a user registers their purchase, then registers a claim should he / she need to, the claim will be dealt with as quickly and efficiently as possible and will be tracked and traced by both Santa Cruz in the US as well as through us.
  21. And yes Iwan, there is a bike check coming too Though that will be in a different section altogether...
  22. Hi Dwinter Sorry to hear about your negative experience. I would be more than willing to run through the process and requirements with you, as the post entails, this is a huge selling point of the bikes, and a process we are working to streamline. Drop me a DM with your details and I'll give you a buzz?
  23. Promise I will register mine this week...
  24. Now you guys just need to come ride some KZN trails... You know there is a spare room available and PLENTY of great trails
  25. Sorry I didn't pick up on this reply earlier... 26" is a tough one, so we're currently bringing in Minion DHF in 2.5" for the diehard DH guys as well as the Ardent 2.4" for the trail guys. I've had a few people asking for something in-between those two, and will certainly look at it on our next order. The biggest challenge here is not MOQ (though that obviously is something to consider) but actually lead-time (probably 120 days from order to in-store availability) as well as getting the word out. Unfortunately, retailers, like all of us, stick with what the know, so for the most part its up to the consumer to do the digging and work WITH their local bike store (who they have a relationship with) to ensure that they are getting the product they want / need, or at least feeding it back up the chain
