  4. Here's some weekend reading on the topic (exam is on Monday) VPP: https://www.santacruzbicycles.com/en-US/virtual-pivot-point-vpp-suspension-design Axle Path: https://www.santacruzbicycles.com/en-US/news/344 Instant Centre Migration: https://www.santacruzbicycles.com/en-US/news/346
  5. One day... and this is not the forum for it, we will go into an explanation on suspension designs and their benefits. There are some pretty common misconceptions out there and "false" truths about various bikes and designs. The orientation of the shock has little to no impact on the pedaling, breaking or bump absorbing performance of the bike. The engineering and mechanics is a far more complex explanation, but needs to take into account the instant centre, chain torque, rider centre of gravity etc. Long and short in respect to Santa Cruz, is that the suspension design uses what is called a virtual pivot which is created as a result of the counter rotating links, one of which is also used to drive the shock. The orientation of the shock has zero effect on the suspension efficiency as this is determined by the linkage.
  6. Definitely! I want a photo of that for the archives too please?!
  7. Thats not the worst of them I'm afraid... but thanks for the effort!
  8. We want ALL Santa Cruz customers to register! FAQ:What happens if I'm not the first owner? We want to encourage every Santa Cruz owner to register their frame online, regardless of whether they are the first owner or not. The warranty is only valid for the first owner, however we will assess and assist every claim that is raised on a registered frame, and our intention is to assist and support ALL Santa Cruz owners. So, what you need to do is create a word doc that gives a basic explanation of how / where and when you purchased your bike, and then follow the regular registration process and use this word doc as the file you upload as your proof of purchase / receipt.
  9. Keep your eyes peeled. We've only assumed the agency from 1st Jan, bikes are on the water at the moment with ETA 2rd week of Feb, and the first events to kick off from the end of this month. We will be listing upcoming demo and other events here: https://www.rushsports.co.za/pages/demo-tour and here: https://www.santacruzbicycles.com/en-ZA/south-african-demo-tour

  11. To answer your question more thoroughly, yes, it does indeed warn you to "contact your region's distributor to make a bearing warranty claim" if you are outside this US, this is merely to simplify the process and direct through the local distributor. However, as you may have seen, we have fully integrated with Santa Cruz and Juliana on localized sites which means ALL claims generated work through our CRM system if the user selects his / her country as South Africa. So, as the post indicated, if a user registers their purchase, then registers a claim should he / she need to, the claim will be dealt with as quickly and efficiently as possible and will be tracked and traced by both Santa Cruz in the US as well as through us.
  12. And yes Iwan, there is a bike check coming too Though that will be in a different section altogether...
  13. Hi Dwinter Sorry to hear about your negative experience. I would be more than willing to run through the process and requirements with you, as the post entails, this is a huge selling point of the bikes, and a process we are working to streamline. Drop me a DM with your details and I'll give you a buzz?
  14. Promise I will register mine this week...
  15. Now you guys just need to come ride some KZN trails... You know there is a spare room available and PLENTY of great trails
  16. Sorry I didn't pick up on this reply earlier... 26" is a tough one, so we're currently bringing in Minion DHF in 2.5" for the diehard DH guys as well as the Ardent 2.4" for the trail guys. I've had a few people asking for something in-between those two, and will certainly look at it on our next order. The biggest challenge here is not MOQ (though that obviously is something to consider) but actually lead-time (probably 120 days from order to in-store availability) as well as getting the word out. Unfortunately, retailers, like all of us, stick with what the know, so for the most part its up to the consumer to do the digging and work WITH their local bike store (who they have a relationship with) to ensure that they are getting the product they want / need, or at least feeding it back up the chain
  17. Don't underestimate longer, lower and slacker for marathon... test one (properly) before you cast your final judgement on that one. The "perception" of feeling slower on the trail may actually surprise you in cold hard facts. Not to say that there isn't room for improvement or expansion in the product range
  18. Yep, I was actually going to pick up on this, but didn't want to troll... I don't think the Maxxis DD is quite a "burly" (read heavy duty) as the Super Gravity. The DD is essentially a butyl insert that runs from the bead to where the tread starts, its sandwiched in-between two 120TPI pieces of canvas. This gives sidewall support and abrasion resistance while keeping weight reasonably low and still allowing for good compliance on the tread portion of the tyre.
  19. Just checking in, there is no DHF II, just Highroller II and DHR II. The current DHF is too good to change Typically in all of the "trail bike" sizes we're bringing in the 3C MaxxTerra compound which is the best compromise between performance / traction and endurance.
  20. Not that I'm biased or anything, but this has to be one of the best team videos for some time. Can't wait to see the chaos these goons get up to this year... I hope 'Sessy gets LOTS of champagne!!
  21. Thats a difficult one... this is my first 650B, and to be fair I'm super unfit and have only had 5 very short rides. I can tell you that it is incredibly surprising. Light, nimble, lively. The riding style, strengths and position are so completely different to a 29", especially something like the Wreckoning that just destroys anything you put in front of it. I think (for me anyway) you get lazy on a 29", its like free speed, as long as you stay off the brakes you don't really have to work the bike, it maintains its speed so well. The 650B on the other hand requires constant rider feedback, which sounds like a negative thing, but the catch is that it rewards you so greatly for it, that provided you have the fitness and strength to be "physical" all the time, I think it can be incredibly quick (and fun). I just need to build some serious strength endurance, and learn how to ride the small wheels. Maybe 26" for 2018...
  22. Its been a busy week, but yep, she is up and on sale: https://www.bikehub.co.za/index.php?app=hubmarket&module=core&do=view_item&item_id=227406&new=1
  23. As soon as she is washed and looking beautiful she will (unfortunately) be in the classifieds. She will be missed. I can now say that there is something truly special about 650B... more soon!
  24. Hi Jaco Not sure is this is the appropriate forum, but I see we received an email from you on the 5th of November which was replied to the same day. (I have just emailed you personally) As we mention on our website we have a strict policy whereby we do not supply directly to the public, we firmly believe the health of the industry, and the reputation of our brands is secured by the independent cycling dealers in South Africa, some 600 of which we supply on a daily basis. That being said, we also respect and admire entrepreneurs who are equipping themselves with the skills to offer a service which South African consumers (and their bikes) deserve, but as per my first point, we have a responsibility to both our existing customers, and the brands that we represent to ensure that we maintain a level of professionalism and transparency that ensure we are only trading with legitimate businesses, as at the end of the day we are a wholesaler first and foremost.
