  1. These bad boys ain't too bad: My link Been using them through the summer and now into winter in Natal and they have been truly amazing!
  2. I think they're doing pretty well. They were our top Formula store in the country for a month earlier this year, and they seem to turn through a good amount of bearings in the workshop. I look forward to seeing the new shop tomorrow though, I really hope the guys manage to stick it out, they really are a great bunch of guys!
  3. I think Rich is pretty clear in the press release. There are always going to be questions... but I think they have done a pretty good job addressing the most pressing questions which people have brought up. I think more important is what actions they take. Its easy to say things, the proof is in the pudding
  4. The plan is to launch two models: 150mm and 170mm travel. The Shova and Mbuzi have been dropped from the line-up for 2011 [a little pre-mature]. But yes, for the moment the Sukuma will replace/ supersede these two models. I would expect that should there still be enough interest in the Shova and Mbuzi it may be possible to see these two refreshed and replaced much like the Izimu and Makulu [one being a performance version and the other a value version] but this is not currently the thought.
  5. Following the statement made by Pat which was published on Tread Mag's website a few weeks ago Morewood have finally made and official statement as to their plans, check it our here: Rush Sports Cycling Sounds like the lads have a plan
  6. Yes and no... yes, its in production, but not its not going to be on the shelves for some time. The guys are currently tooling up for the production: making the jigs for the CNC machining, the moulds for the tubes and a few others odds and ends. Word is September, just in time for some late season Whistler shredding...
  7. Should have a friend for the 5.Spot in the garage soon too: http://www.morewoodbikes.com/bikes/all-mountain/sukuma/ Just in case my mom lets me have friends over for the weekend
  8. Building one of these puppies at the moment: XTR Kit, but using I9 wheels laced to Flow rims instead of the Enve [although they are vert very ] http://www.turnerbikes.com/011/bg/bike_spot_raw_bg.jpg
  9. Ha, figured out how to embed directly... what a novice Here is the vid from Ft William. Poor old Tim gets the "french initiation" and is turned into a mullet wearing rock star http://vimeo.com/24810155
  10. Thought I would start a thread for updates and info from team Morewood UnitedRide, the boys have been busy of late and it looks as though their media skills are improving Check out the links below for their most recent news posts: Morewood UnitedRide hit Paris Downtown Morewood UnitedRide// Dream// Share// Ride Morewood UnitedRide Fort William WC #2
  11. You need ore than 14 gears??
  12. Its pretty simple, I have some Cane Creek headsets to accommodate this sitting on the shelf. They are basically a regular ZS [Zero Stack] 44mm top with a 44mm OnePiontFive bottom cup. The bottom bearing does sit externally to the headtube and you will need to accommodate this in your steerer tube length, I would estimate approx. 13mm. Although you wouldn't think that this will adjust the geometry by much it does. Its obviously going to change the ride height of the bike, lifting it by 13 - 15mm and additionally slacken the headtube angle by approx. 1deg. EDIT: I was assuming you were wanting to run a tapered steerer... if you are looking for a straight 1.5 steerer fork and are wanting a headset to run this in a 44mm/ semi integrated frame then I am afraid you are out of luck.
  13. Funny how we all want more gears on the back and less on the front... Sure;y if we weren't all trying to run double or single ring setup up front we would all be satisfied with our 8 or 9 speed bikes? LOL!
  14. I think you're better off building a custom set. No only are you able to get better, more reliable hubs than the Mavic's but you'll be able to get spares for them easier and at reasonable prices. If you're looking for a no fuss wheelset there isn't much better than a Hope Pro2 hub mated to a EX832 UST rim with some DT spokes tying the two together. If you're a weight weenie and aren't too hard on your wheels then the Stans Flow rims are worth considering, I am running these at the moment on a Makulu with GREAT results! Either way I think you can get better value and performance by going the custom route.
  15. Thought I would quickly and formally address some of the questions that have come up: RushSportsCycling
  16. Maybe Morewould?
  17. There is an awful amount of "early" snow on the 'berg....
  18. No hints or clues its confirmed and in production. The fact is that Morewood bikes was the brainchild of Pat, an AMAZING rider, incredible designer and unbelievable visionary. Whats also true however is that Morewood has over the last 12 years established itself within the industry on an international scale, built credible mass behind itself, founded solid & sought after designs AND built around Pat a team of skilled, dedicated individuals. There is no doubt that Pat's influence and vision set the company on its path, but there are many in the shadows from engineers to team riders, magazine contributors to store owners, skeptics to believers who have had an influence in driving the company to the heights it is now, and making the product it is.
  19. On a side note I'm pretty stoked that this thread has WWWWAAAAAYYYYY more views than the Competition Commission thread
  20. Patches, keep your eyes peeled on my BLOG there will be lots of info rolling out over the coming months regarding continuation, future plans, developments, strategies etc. We've all put our hearts and souls into this "dream" and this isn't the final chapter thats for sure
  21. You know who designs THIS suspension right? http://blog.rushsportscycling.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/2011/02/MEGAVALANCHE-725x483.jpg
  22. Can I take a peak in the "catalogue" you find Morewood's in? EVERY bike, even the Taiwanese mfg'd bikes are completely Morewood designed and not a single frame uses an "open mould" design, meaning they are 100% unique.
  23. I know the guys have a pretty solid strategy moving forward, and strangely enough it is to bring MORE and eventually ALL production back to the South African shores. Sure, time will tell how viable it may be, but I think you may be a little surprised with the direction the company plans to take...
