  1. +1 Climb like a spider monkey.
  2. Never had that problem with mine. May need to be regreased. You can also get a service kit for them.
  3. ?? to me that is a no brainer! DO IT! or give me your entry.
  4. Before the 2009 Epic I did Sabie Classic using Racing Ralphs (UST). I got a few punctures. They just seemed a bit softer than the Conti's.
  5. Used 2.2 Race King/Mountain King combo in the 2009 and 2010 Epics. Not 1 puncture. come to think of it, I haven't had a puncture using these. At the start line of the Epic last year I would say most people were using the Race King/Mountain King combo. I might only have noticed this though, as I was using the same setup.
  6. Ahh. Thanks.
  7. There's a cyclelab at Northgate Centre? The one by the dome?
  8. I only ride with water for any length of 1 day race. I do however take an empty bottle with me, and if I start to feel a bit down or bonk, then I'll put half water, and half coke in the bottle. This does mean I need to get to a water point though. At the Epic for the last 2 years I rode only on water until the last water point on every day. At that water point I filled my bottle with Energade.
  9. Get one of those trailer things and connect it to your bike, and go out for a ride. The extra weight of your laaitie will be an extra workout.
  10. I've used Stan and CO2 to inflate my tyres, and I've had no issues with delamination. I currently use Conti's, but have previously used Maxxis, and Schwalbes.
  11. Found this regarding the CS200. Not sure if it'll help at all... I know that sometimes a soundcard driver can cause the problems, but I wouldn't know if you can even change these on a MAC.
  12. It also never used to be free... I remember having to pay to be able to earn discovery points for doing races... The polar web thing is free though. I have no problem connecting with my S625X and the standard infra red port on my laptop. To get back on topic though. the site is rather rubbish, and could do with a bit more user friendliness.
  13. Doesn't Jock Green ride for Ghost?
  14. Look for the wrinkles.
  15. Gators are also a good idea.
  16. Also remember to take things that are specific to your bike. An example would be if you ride a GT Marathon, then you would want to take a Flex plate with you. Some things you'll be able to get from other riders, but things that are specific to your bike you might not be able to.
  17. Ashchest. It's R1000.00 difference just to make the purchase. Chances are you'll be charged some kind of import fee/tax when you want to collect it. You also say that that the LBS will milk you, but on another post you say how they changed the rear hub for free. Yeah, that's milking you. I wish my LBS milked me like that!
  18. Mountain Kings help you squat in the Sabie mud anyway.
  19. I don't exactly agree on the "(and longer period to react)". The rider coming downhill might not have been in view when the rider going up the hill looked up the hill(how many riders don't look more than 2m's ahead of themselves when going uphill?). If they're both looking ahead of them, they'll both have the same time to react. It'll just be easier for the guy going slower to stop and move off the trail. Just my 2c worth.
  20. Hmm... I will have to test my mountain king out this weekend then. Hope it works a bit better than yours...
  21. I'm attempting the 75km. :s
  22. They do come in handy when you need to portage up a a climb, especially in thickish sand or lose rock.
  23. Actually, I'd like to know this too...
  24. Had this problem with a friends Polar CS300. Turned out to be the soundcard drivers.
