  1. How about frame weights... Does anyone perhaps know what these weigh in at? Bonus points for ally and carbon ????
  2. Do you know what the eye to eye length of the shock is? Also max tyre size at the back? Are you still running 100mm at the back?
  3. Is it possible that Cannondale is a 2014/2015 model? Had a little google, it might be. If you do go have a look at least take a chain wear tool with you. Here is a new bike for R20k: https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/road-bikes/505489/silverback-strela-comp
  4. Getting into road riding, I would suggest looking at a gravel bike. Not because they are more versatile or you may want to use it off road, really not for those reasons. I view gravel bikes as road bikes that can take wider tyres. Wide tyres on the road, 32mm or slightly more are really comfortable at the recommended pressure. I run 55 psi and weigh 74kg. I know this goes against a lot of opinions on the hub: (I'm looking at you @Pure Savage) 1. Don't worry about the weight of the bike 2. Go tubeless (at about 32mm) 3. Hydraulic disc brakes Spotted this in the classifieds, all it needs is a nice set of road tyres and you'll be smiling for many kilometres... https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/gravel-and-cyclocross-bikes/500179/silverback-strela
  5. Started in 1c. Thought the start procedure was the best/smoothest experience of my handful of cycle tour starts. Also number collection was so smooth and easy. Definitely revenue loss there. My time is not showing on racetec, anyone know how long it normally takes for racetec to finalize? Garmin has me at 2:59 with some change so really hoping for some good news!
  6. In my experience with having 2 units replaced, both were damaged by me and out of warranty. The discount was not slight, probably around 50 to 60%. Turn around was prompt. I used courier guy to get it to them. Overall happy with the experience and was left with the feeling of a brand that was happy to help me out.
  7. If you fall and break your helmet and you're ok, maybe just get the same helmet again as it seemed to have done its job. But I have seen a few times on the internet the Specialized Align 2 helmet being mentioned as a really good helmet at a decent price. It's about R1000 and has MIPS. As mentioned above, make sure whatever you get fits well.
  8. Picked up a 2 button gate remote on level 5 in Tokai this morning. Give me a shout if it's yours. Has the word BIKE written on it and underlined. Had a chuckle assuming the riders partner keeps taking the remote and not putting it back.
  9. There you go.... https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/shifters/499849/shimano-slx-11spd-shifter-m7000
  10. Ah brilliant stuff! Thanks for the update
  11. Any further news on this? I'm wanting to ride from Rhodes mem gate to tafelberg road tomorrow morning. From what I'm reading above that's not possible?
  12. Thanks @droo
  13. I'm wanting to replace my resin pads with metal pads on M6100 brakes. Do I go for the original Shimano G04S / G04TI or a generic option?
  14. Before you go down the fb marketplace route. Try Bicycle Empowerment Network. They have set up for just this purpose.. getting commuters on bikes that work. Not making a profit, not selling something that doesn't work anymore, but usable bikes. You will still have money left over for helmet and lights
  15. Chat to the guys at BEN Bicycle Empowerment Network. They're in Capricorn Park/Marina da Gama area. We just organised a bike for an employee, it's a 90's style mountain bike, in great condition at the right price for a commuter.
  16. If you're referring to this Trek Roscoe https://www.trekbikes.com/za/en_ZA/bikes/mountain-bikes/trail-mountain-bikes/roscoe/roscoe-7/p/35116/?colorCode=black I reckon you will be blown away by what the latest geometry bikes with wide tyres slack head angle and dropper can do for your riding. Sounds like you are learning new skills like jumping and a hardtail is great for that.
  17. Thank you for the input everybody! ????
  18. For MTB wheelset, if both hub options are available at the same price, which would you go for?
  19. That's the XT M785 crank which is 104 BCD
  20. I recently popped some zipp service course bar tape on my road bike. Huge improvement to the stock tape that was fitted to my bike. Thus stuff is so nice, feels like I have a lot more control on the bike and it's more comfortable.
  21. Have you tried a high roller or high roller 2? If so what are your thoughts on the ardents compared to HR's?
  22. The steps I would take to try resolve this: 1. take out pads and inspect for contamination 2. put some high grit 1200 or so sand paper on a flat surface facing up and gently sand the pads taking off a very small amount, clean afterwards with isopropyl 3. clean rotor with isopropyl 4. bed them in by doing some hard braking a few times in the road
  23. I used to take my bikes to my LBS, they did such a good job getting them really clean, especially the drivetrain. I soon realized that my bearing lifespan had fallen off a cliff. They don't have the time to carefully clean a bike, they need to turn them over really fast, which most likely involves using a high pressure washer and some serious degreaser.
  24. Contact me to get it back!
