A beautiful Easter Monday cycle. Roads are quiet and weather is good. this, again, up at newlands corner.

Went out on the winter road bike this morning to burn some calories before a few beers this arvie. Bike is a Lapierre CP500 with Hunt wheels. Been a fantastic workhorse over the years. photo at Newlands corner outside Guildford.

Cycled down the downlink today, about 60 kms from where I live to Brighton Pier. Been raining a lot this week so lots of mud and long water stretches. Prediction for today was more rain and strong winds with temps around 10 degrees. Was whatsapping my mate around 6:30 to decide if we were going to go or not. But being manly men there really was only one option. We arranged to meet around the 30 km mark as he comes in from Gatwick area. up to around 35 km’s conditions were ok. A lil rain , my feet were wet and getting a lil frozen but nothing hectic. From 35km’s it just got crazy, high winds, pelting rain and mate got a puncture. But alas in for a penny in for a pound. Only thing that kept me going was the promise of a bunny chow and Hansa. Caught the train back. Public transport for the win. place called African Chow in Brighton. Brilliant food, reminds me of Britannia.

Ja nee. You have a point. Americans are just meshuggah. Next Boris will be back.

In the last few weeks, Saxon dropped an amazing album, Judas Priest dropped their best album since Stained Glass I reckon and in April Accept drop an album. think I am back in the 80s.

A few more Rykas is/was a proper old skool cafe. Started in 1920 and a hangout for cyclists, bikers, walkers, hikers, tour groups etc for more than a hundred years. New owners took it over last year and have upgraded it significantly. Food is better but prices now much higher. Guess change is the heartbeat of progress. No more beans on toast for me here these days, no sir it’s fancy plant based burgers for me at 8-50 a pop sans chips or coffee. Set up an outdoor area big screen for MotoGP and web etc sells beer too now

Want to Rykas this morning. Used to be an old school bikers/transport cafe. They have upgraded the place significantly. Soon riff raff like me will be verboten. will resize pics and post em at some point. Lots of royal Enfields around. Quite like the 650 GT.

that’s their model, and the same as all the “webuy” type businesses be they motorcycles, cars etc. offer low sell high. It’s a business after all. Facts are that bicycles depreciate faster than any other vehicle. Just crazy Butn highlights the actual cost of producing a bicycle.

😔 i have not run in a month. Darn plantar faciilis is not clearing up. Will start cycling a bit this weekend and hopefully it clears in the next few weeks. have a marathon planned on the 7th of april, might have to miss that but that would just be a training jog if i make it. then an 80km in may, and lastly, 100 km in july. Will walk it if i have to. more than enough time.

and then one day you find 10 years have got behind you.
