  1. Looks neat but I'm not a fan of proprietory components on bikes. Leaves you with no options if you want to change/upgrade it. Take those Giant Overdrive steerer tubes as sn example.
  2. Lol, well spotted. Require a special tool to install Race Face chainring. The day was long because I was looking forward to unboxing and building.
  3. This guy arrived today...made for a loooong day at the office
  4. If anyone in the fraternity is interested: https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/249468-dual-suspension-bikes/
  5. For the record, your credibility is immediately questioned of you do NOT knock Makro bikes...so don't ever hold back on that front.
  6. I was convinced this is what I look like when I ride, then I got an action cam, then I sold an action cam very soon thereafter.
  7. So glad this question was asked. Made me revisit at my Pike's settings. Had way too much LSC. After bringing that down it just feels so much better sover the small bumps. Heavens know why I had it that high in the first place!
  8. Cool, I'm really interested. Just need to find someone who can install it. I do most of the DIY on my bike except the suspension.
  9. Is this very different from what the tokens do Myles?
  10. I'd be counting seconds if were you. Yumm!!
  11. Oy vey! One can not unsee what has been seen...this is going to cost me. Can you guys not perhaps do the installation as well?
  12. He already bought a bike: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/97078-hardtail-vs-dual-suspension/?p=3110778
  13. Hahaha, grumpy old men. We like mechanical progress...and going faster
  14. Makes sense Chris. The Trek is better suited to your preferred type of riding anyway. Many happy km's and next time you're in Paarl it better be on your bike so we can go for a ride.
  15. Yup, would've been a no-brainer for me were I looking to spend 30k on a new bike. I mean you get a flippen Pike on this bike!!! If only that Danie wasn't such a good salesman (I'm sure you'll be more than happy with the Trek Chris)
  16. Really depends on what type of riding you prefer...XC, trail, enduro? Also, my best bit of advice...buy 2nd hand. You get waaaaay more bang for your buck...way more!
  17. Eish...I shall go look promptly
  18. Frame is just under 2 years old. So what was the ominous reason for the creak?
  19. I suspect this is also what aids my 1x as the Lyne Pulse crank has a chainline of 49mm.
  20. Okay, so I've been for a quick trip up Paarl mountain and have some feedback. First of all, super impressed with this 1x11 setup. Shifts are so quick and smooth. Sunrace cassette and it's wide range is a real enabler. Back to your original question, the chainline is by no means quiet but it is no worse than my 1x10 so I suppose I'm already used to a somewhat noisy granny gear. I installed everything very quickly so I suspect a bit of tweaking might help a little...perhaps. My solution, put some hairy chested draggy tyres on and you won't hear anything else Jokes aside, my Pyga has an insufferable creak which is driving me nuts. Had it for a pivot service and fork/shock service but still creaking like an old boat.
  21. Yet to ride it but will let you know. Has there been issues with the chainline? I've been riding 1x10 on this bike for a long time without issue so not expecting problems with 1x11.

  23. Best value for money item I bought in a long time. Quality is really good and weight is competitive. Price is not...bargain
  24. Tom, it is part of the upgrade I did yesterday so it's done zero km's to date
