  9. Yep just bought one, could barely do a roll on it at the physio. I do bruise easily but yoh, my leg looks like I got bunkered playing paintball
  10. Did a quick 5k road run on Saturday morning and late in the day I felt a bit of a niggle in my right leg. Went to go see the physio today and surprise-surprise, I have an ITB injury. Apparently as my feet are virtually flat they are causing tension and compensation when I run, which moved up the leg and screwed it all up. She was quite surprised that I can actually run at all hehe. Seems my flexibility has helped me out to prevent previous issues. Had quite a painful massage, going back for more treatment and have to do some excersises she gave me. Can do moderate excersise but this will be a 6 week process, so there goes the start of my season... Anyway I'm off to go buy a foam roller and wollow in my own self-pity WW.
  11. OK so it's official I have an ITB issue so have to sit this one out Will probly come and watch, friends of mine might do some video as well. If anyone needs some help with seconding let me know. Can bring a set of 26'' 9 speed wheels and tools for neutral support

  15. Please let us know how the service goes, think I should give them a try as I need to drive that way from Pta anyway and the bike could use some TLC before the year's racing starts
  16. Yeah Baker gonna be hot but that's how XCO starts go unfortunately. This is Africa afterall ! How many guys have entered for the open male class ? Not doing 8 laps riding on my own again...
  17. Eish sorry to hear that hope she heals up fast !
  18. I see elites do 8 laps, how long are they per lap ?
  19. Maxxis Medusa would get my vote
  20. Best is to start by running small bit and then walking a bit and so forth building distance until you can run a full 5km in one go. You could probly just run the full distance but in a day or two you will be so stiff it's not even funny I found that while my legs adjusted quickly, my respiratory (sp?) system took allot longer to be able to cope. Be sure to also go to a reputable running shop that can analyse your gait and running style and recommend the correct shoes for you. Be carefull of shops trying to sell you minimalist shoes off the batt as well, you need some time to adapt to running first. Good socks are also nb to avoid blisters on your feet. Depending on your area and focus I would actually recommend taking up trailrunning and not road running. The dirt is softer and thus less impact on your body, you use more core and other muscles when running off-road and because of the varied terrain overuse injuries are less common than on the road. Also no drunk drivers to worry about. Just be careful of rolling your ankle but it will become allot stronger quite quick. I think all cyclists should do some running, as the impact is good for counteracting the effects of cycling on your bones as a non-impact sport. Sure the more experienced runners like Dangle will provide some more info. Next thing you will be contemplating the Comrades...
  21. Don't think it's either, just that it's a big commitment and for most they have not committed to training for it so they aren't fit enough to do it
