  1. Cat-i as I understand it the XCOSA series is basically the Gauteng North XCO Series for 2012 but I could be wrong
  2. Maxxis Aspens 2.1 folding bead on Stan's Podium MMX Rims. +- 63kg (racing weight) rider. Front = 20 PSI (Dry) / 18 PSI (Wet) Rear = 22 PSI (Dry) / 20 PSI (Wet)
  3. I had the M770 XT brakes on my bike and was never really happy with them. Switched to the 1st R1's that came out (still with magnesium levers) and I've never looked back. Lighter, better looking, powerful with good modulation, no fade for marathon/xc riding. You can get all the replacement bits from CRC, even different colour bits to pimp your ride. What do you want in a brake ? If you are really serious about weight then you need to look at the R1 Race brake as it is the lightest stock model from Formula, with carbon levers and Titanium bolts and the lightweight 6 bolt Formula rotor (not the 2 piece). Otherwise I would recommend the Formula RX for good performance but at lower price and higher weight. I haven't used the new XTR so cannot comment or compare them to the R1's. The R1 will have enough power for you to use a 140mm disk on the rear. You can get R1 bleed kits on CRC and there has been an article on it by bikemagic. Don't see why shops wouldn't be able to do it, I haven't had to have it done anyway. WRT to durability, I have the old model which has given issues with the brake lever sticking when the bolts are too tight that holds the lever in, but the newer models don;t have any issues I know of. Also search the forum there are similar threads that will give you more info. Hope this helps. WW.
  4. Keen on a running pack http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=57139
  5. Hmm they keep taking my money but I don't have any info on these updated requirements. Currently the locks I have are way too thin, though I do have one of the RavX locks so will use that then.
  6. Keen, will let you know once I start riding again
  7. Thanks I'm doing exactly that. Battle we shall !
  8. Ah Ok it was Iron I saw then. Didn't spot the Niner though, but I'm sure there are some pics on the hub ? As for me I had a good time, checking the talent on and off the field and catching up with Lauren, Sean etc. Got an ITB issue so can't ride at the moment which sucks as this was to be my first race of the season. Hopefully it's all systems go for the next one in April
  9. For me 32GI is way too sweet and doesn't suite the shorter more intense activities I prefer. Been using PVM Octane for a few years and I'm quite happy with that as together with gels and coke etc. it suites me well. Tried some Cytomax but the flavour was not to my liking. Would like to give the Accelerate a bash though.
  10. Oh ja that little bridge is a sneaky bliksem ! Last time I rode there with the provincial I just ran it after bottoming my rim the 1st time as well. What bike were you riding ? A Flash ? Think I spotted you WW.
  11. Will def join once I'm done with all the physio etc.
  12. If they only distract me AFTER the workout, then yes
  13. Hey guys Since I'm injured at the moment I decided it's a good time to do some more swimming so will be following a 12 week plan from tomorrow if anyone wants to join. Swims will be at hillcrest or preferably at the gym pool in the Estate where I stay in Moreletapark. I'm flexible with swim times. Anyone keen ? WW.
  14. Looking for something similiar but seems the Garmin 910xt is the only one to do elevation with the barometric altimeter ?
  15. Hmm so what happened to Speedy then ? Also heard that Rossouw put like 5 minutes into the Kevin, damn if that's true he really is firing on all cylinders
  16. Well I had a lekker time spectating, checking out the talent on and off the track Atleast I got to chear for Barbie, Dubber88 and Merida Man. Well done to Burry on his win, was nice to see the ding-dong battle between him and Buys. I was quite surprised by Brendon Davids who seemed to be flailing a bit at the end, Louis Bressler Knipe (sp?) got quite a gap on him at the finish. Maybe jetlag had gotten to him a bit. Was good to see James Reid racing as well, though I heard he a had a puncture ? Andrew Warr (sp?) was also there along with another KZN lad, but seemed this was still a bit early in the season for them and maybe not their style of riding. Was surprised to see Bryce Munro not racing. Lastly, well done to Joel Hieber, he even managed to stick with Burry and Phillip for a bit. Definitely a guy to watch in future ! I did not go there myself but my friend did comment that the bathrooms really were a bit of a mess, maybe some porta potties would help next time. Looking forward to doing the next race if possible. WW. Ps. will post some video when my friend is done with the editing
  17. What type of riding do you want to do? SPeed, distance etc ? I'm keen just need to shake off this ITB issue
  18. Sweet will definitely join on the road laps and klapperkop, mtb rides a bit long for my type of racing at this point in time. Just need to sort out the injury and will be back in touch then
  19. Yep, hitting the nail on the head there !
