  2. anyone know?
  3. I hadn't been to NF in forever, almost 2 years I think, mostly due the fact I "live" at Van Gaalens(can't get enough of the place) but I rode the Quickie 2 weeks ago and really enjoyed it. I had no security worries on the day due the masses of people there, but i want to take a mate there this saturday and for peace of mind want to make sure it's safe? should it be pretty busy this Sat? Thanks
  4. Said seduction took place! Unfortunately I read your reply too late! I couldn't resist the flowing lines nor the urge to get dirty! I got so caught up in getting dirty on Saturday I think I burnt out a lung! now I just hope I heal in time for next weekend's Route69! I have since banned the above mentioned temptress into a locked room out of sight!
  5. Thanks tombeej
  6. I went Spinning this morning , kept it light. tried not to push myself over 75-80% of my MHR. Afterwards I felt better then i have for the last 5 days, I can breathe so much better...so i'll keep it to light Spinning for now.
  7. I started with the sniffles last Thursday and by Friday afternoon I'd made a new "friend" in the form of a summer cold, a million times worse then a winter cold! I've stayed off my bike and away from Spinning since, so that's 4 full days... I want to head back to Spinning tomorrow and ride on Saturday...from experience what'd you guys reckon? I should still take it easy? Train but take it easy? Train as i usually do and just listen to my body? I'm just so scared of losing form! Last year August i wasn't in the best shape and have worked really hard since then and I'm no race winner now, but I'm enjoying my riding so much more with how much fitter and stronger i am.... Rock and a hard place!

    Polar AND Garmin

I ride with both. a 705 because i can map my rides and download other routes done from garminconnect. my RS800 because I can use it for Spinning as well as MTB'ing. I don't cadence sensors for either because that's dumb on a mountain bike! also Polar has the benefits with Discovery. So , for me, it's not about being hip, or trying to look cool or be flash... it's because i can...... because i didn't pay for my 705 got it mahala it's handy having both and only because i use it at spinning, i'd have to choose the polar over the 705, otherwise it would be a very hard choice for me now that I'm spoiled with both.
  9. Thanks
  10. Hey Drubin, went onto wine website, selected download and a whole bunch of options are there...which way to go?
  11. +1
  12. still won't work. it only applies to the models listed. so unless you're using windows, it's a no go now do i buy windows and parallels for almost 3K or use an old laptop just for my "polar stuff"!!??!
  13. thanks guys. so whatever option i choose, be it parallel, VMware Fusion or wine... i still need to get myself "vensters" (an Dangle put it )
  14. thanks Dangle.
  15. I've just changed to a Mac from PC. can't find any Mac supported software for Polar, ... help?
  16. I'm in the same position whereby myself and LBS owner have become friends. I'll buy as much as i possibly can from him, the only time i won't is when i can get it online at a HUGE saving and I'll always let him know so that in the event of him possibly being able to get whatever item cheaper, and still be worth his while to make money, he can do so.... I must stress though this hardly ever happens, and for good reason. I get exceptional service, and way beyond the call of duty too eg:- Magalies Adventure weekend, I'd made sure my bike was fine, got to Van Gaalens real early, rode a bit , no worries.THEN..two/three hours before the start of the night race, i discovered a problem, long story short, one phone call later, LBS owner came out, met me half way there, attempted an on the spot repair, all was fine but he wasn't happy, replaced part and i had a problem free event all weekend. this was not the first or last time it happened. my point is, we're here to make money in our business, otherwise WTF are we doing it for? I can't speak for all LBS' but I'm sure there are a lot out there like mine, I will rather spend that bit , or more then bit extra on whatever I'm buying because I can't put a price on the service I get. PS Eben @WestRandCycles is a Legend and a Gentleman!

  18. Had a brilliant ride on Sunday. mud made some sections trickier but just doubled the fun! just so annoying that people don't respect the place enough to use bins... tons of sh*t on the Fountains side, lots of broken glass.... and i saw a couple of GU sachets not just the non MTB'ers that are messy!
  19. I'm planning to ride GK and Fountains on Sunday, haven't been in a couple weeks and just wanted know if, with all the recent rain, everything's still ok. I know a couple places like Teak and Van Gaalens(River Trail) have taken a bit of bashing lately.
  20. So, it's been hectic at work all year, but this last month especially has had me taking a bit of strain...... Thank God for Mountain biking and Van Gaalens! Had the most awesome ride this morning , nothing hectic, just 30kms .. from the farm up the concrete road, back down through the piece I call "the valley of waves", along the railway line then under the road again till Oom Piet and back along the River trail at a nice 20kmph. I could not stop smiling!!! I felt so awesome! I love riding and I Love my bike! just had to share! PS if you do ride there after a bit of rain, rather cross over the road at the end of the railway trail , the low 1.3m tunnel is a bit eroded, the mud makes it very difficult to get through and didn't smell the greatest, I'm sure there's a little poo being washed into the tunnel. enjoy the weekend!
  21. it's a job and a half to clean them, and you have to do it pretty soon after you're done riding otherwise they stain. Looks awesome, but if you're as anal as I am about a clean bike it'll drive you nuts. still doesn't deter from the fact that they looked so hot on my bike.....when clean. I had Geax on. A while ago tried Conti mountain kings and loved the ride, now the whites have been banished to the storeroom!
  22. Go speak to Eben or Shaun at WestRand Cycles. best service!

    Thule Euroway G2

Thule Stores do the 2 bike for around 5200 and the 3 for just over a grand more. But if you shop around you're bound to get a good deal from other stores where negotiation is welcomed. I honestly thought i had it easy before with my older Euroway... but par the G5, i can't see anything being better then this rack! 2 or 3 bike. ( the 3 is very light, but the 2-bike weighs next to nothing)
