  1. The guys at Thule at have an amazing job with the G2. in all aspects it's day and night compared to the older one. i bought a 3 bike, and it's almost ha;f the weight of my old 2 bike. and the clamping mechanism is such a pleasure! so easy!
  2. so sexy gt!! wheels are bitch to clean though! but look so great once they are!
  3. Groenkloof is great...but you're robbing yourself of a bit of awesomeness by limiting yourself. Teak and Van Gaalens are definite musts within a quick drive from you.
  4. Ditto that! Especially if you start just before sunrise!
  5. that means this weekend's going to be heaps of fun with all the mud!
  6. :D
  7. I think its R30. Cost:-I think its R30.I bought a multi entry card a while ago (works out to less then R20 an entry because you get 10, plus 2 or 3 free entries) Times:- open pretty early, the guards let you in and they're there all the time, so i'm guessing 5ish now in summer. Coffee shop:- there is one, but have no idea if they're open in the week or times, on the weekends they sell coffee for sale canteen style in the parking. never been to the restaurant there, so no idea what the coffee's like
  8. taken @ Teak, round 6ish this morning
  9. Nice Robert. enjoy and safe riding!
  10. This is the most Beautiful Bike I have ever seen!! SO SO hot Don!!
  11. It's not a biggie, I mean I'm there for the awesome riding, not for the service, be it good or bad, just compared to most places, I've found the people there generally unfriendly. The couple times I've called to find out info about opening times etc, I've just found them to have a bit of an attitude, emails are also to replied to. However, the riding is brilliant , (&the gate staff are super friendly:D) there're a couple routes you can choose from :- Black / Red Course: Black Track: The Black course is thirty eight kilometre’s long and more demanding on the rider. This course runs along some of the farm roads with 5 single track switch backs and a lot more single track running along the bottom of the dams. Much more technical and exciting, where riding down to and along the streams, over and around eight bridges running next to the scenic streams is a real challenge. Adjacent to Gnome Lane is thick bush land providing the true African experience. Cycling up towards View Point you will climb along the ridge and then cycle down towards View Point, back up view point climb which is fairly challenging especially up to View point itself. Lets not forgetting the spectacular 46 meter floating water bridge. Blue Track: This blue course is thirty six kilometre’s long ,and also quite demanding depending how you ride the course. The course runs along the farm roads with 5 single track switch backs, including a lot more single track. In the lower bush area there is some fantastic scenic riding along the streams and over and around 8 bridges running next to the streams. View Point climb is challenging, not for the novice rider, especially up to View Point itself. Great for training and hard workout. The green course is ten kilometers long for the intermediate rider. The course runs along scenic farm roads with African bush single track, to introduce the novice rider single track riding. There are some small hill climes just to get your adrenals pumping and definitely get you hooked into serious cycling. for more:- http://www.teaksports.co.za/
  12. so hot!
  13. and Teak too. (not the friendliest of places: : ,apart from the gate staff) but some really great riding:
  14. don't forget Van Gaalens:
  15. I'm at VG quite often and I didn't know about this (last time I asked, admittedly ages ago, nothing like this was available) You can get an Annual Disc for R500, which is pretty, actually very, reasonable. 17 visits will cost you R510, so if you're there twice a month or more, it's a bargain! Eric gave me one for the balance of this year for R150 which is still a saving for me. you get a little round disc that you're supposed to stick on your bike, but that wouldn't last 20 minutes, so i just pulled the backing off ,pierced a hole and made a little keyring of it.
  16. I'm Keen to know how it goes if you ever do do it...let us know.
  17. I'm feeling so much Anger and so much sadness... irrespective as to what I'd like to do that thoughtless piece of sh*t taxi driver ... it's not him that deserves the attention now! My condolences to the family. It's crazy season now, with 94.7 coming up, the cradle was full with bikes this weekend, as well as idiot drivers! (was overtaken twice driving back from Teak, by guys doing, what seemed like, over 120kmh on that Kromdraai road... Guys be careful!
  18. Thanks Johann... "Courses"!!!!!! all it needed was one more click of the toggle!! had that very well known " is that all it needed??!??" feeling!! Thanks so much!
  19. Hubbers! I've got myself a 705 .... I want to save Routes that I do... can I a) save a route , and name it , on the unit? (HOW??????) so as to follow it on future rides b)transfer these routes to my pc and save them there too? all MTB, no road riding at all! normally I'm fine with all things gadgety related, and learn quickly! but, I'm defeated!! can't figure out what to do! please help or point out an already posted topic on this issue... Thanks

    NEW@Teak

I did Mankele a couple months ago, the riding out there is amazing. you're lucky to have all that on your doorstep. when you're out this way again you should give Van Gaalens a go too!

    NEW@Teak

I almost, almost!!, drove all the way to Van Gaalens this morning for nothing...it's supposed to be closed today (well the trails)only remembered the Cradle Quest just in time... so opted for Teak as it's closer and didn't feel like the drive back from Groenkloof then still have to head to work! Anyway, after that pointless and boring intro.... I arrived there half heartedly, because I really wanted to ride at VG and had a whole route planned... but MAN!!! i had a great ride, not far..only about 25 km but it was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There's a whole lot of new single track added in on the black route (in and around the area of the climb to the "look out point") so much of fun!!!! you climb up an escalator style singletrack and come back down a similar styled trail again! awesome stuff! i also noticed, where the "under the tar road tunnel' is, there's a board that highlighted additional route options of 16km and 10km, which is nice as i pretty ride that blindly before, not knowing where to go... but I'm guessing it's marked out now...(couldn't check, didn't have time)
  22. with all the recent events there, eg Magalies Adventure, the Corporate Challenge and the Nashua Ladies Day there are a lot of markers all over the place. it does help me being there often and learning the routes, as well as obviously taking part in the events, But i totally agree, it can be very tricky ... it's still best to get a rough idea of the route by asking when you pay.
  23. GuyP... Van Gaalens is amazing! They honestly do have the sweetest singletrack there... So sweet it's cavity inducing! Take Teak, add in some Groenkloof, for a leg stretcher some Northern Farm and then some sweeping Fountains single track... mash it all up and you get Van (FUN) Gaalens! PS your 200km day ride sounds great... I'd just need a 120 hour day to do it! (-;
  24. I Love Van Gaalens! the rides there are always great ,you've got everything , from Lung busting climbs to the rewarding amazing downhills, to the best singletrack,eg the river trail, quite possibly the most fun you can have on a bike.... but every so often I have a ride that blows me away! Today was one of those days! set off at 7am back by about 9:50 or so. did 40kms of pure heaven, nothing hectic, just tons of fun!:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D just had to share! enjoy your weekend everyone;)
