  1. I'm not too familiar with Meridas. A mate of mine who is new to Mountain biking has a choice of between one of these and the HFS 1000-D. but there is a substantial price difference , I just want to establish if that difference is justified for the 1000 or if, for the sub 20K price range, the 800 is a good bike? I've been on the Merida site and spec wise they're similar although the 1000 is now full XT as opposed to specs mentioned on the site. BUT, I need to know from those of you who've either ridden or own these bikes Thanks
  2. It does look very pretty' date='until you take it into the mud that is.[/quote'] But it'd be so worth it! White tyres aren't the smartest.....but look so good! even though mine are more on the Vanilla side now..they still look pretty good.
  3. Thanks MountainKing.

  7. Thanks, that's what i thought. I'll pass on the info.
  8. is the 310XT more for a runner and swimmer? or a good cycling unit too? finding out for a mate of mine, I'm using a RS800CX PTE and I'm super happy with it, but I don't run at all so it suits my purposes fine. 310XT or RS800?
  9. Hubbers, I realize the topic of washing bikes with the "how to's" "what to use and not to use" "what'd you re-lube with" etc etc etc has been done to death, But I've just got a new frame , and it has a matt finish. Was just curious if those of you who have had both frames did or are doing anything different when it comes to cleaning. My usual routine is something along the lines of what Yang posted a while ago https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=50115&PN=6
  10. Anyone using these? what're they like? I'm considering buying a set.

  16. Hubbers, I'd just like you guys to (if you're the religious type, ) include my cousins in your prayers (and if not) in your thoughts please. http://news.smh.com.au/breaking-news-national/cyclist-killed-in-m4-truck-smash-police-20100410-rz8h.html Cyclist killed in M4 truck smash: police April 10, 2010 - 7:49PM AAP A cyclist has been killed and three others are lucky to be alive after a truck ploughed into the group in a "horrific" accident on a Sydney motorway, police say. The cyclists, including two siblings in their 20s, were struck while pedalling along the M4 at South Penrith early on Saturday morning. They were not long into their trip from Sydney's western suburbs to the Blue Mountains when the B-double truck allegedly veered into the emergency lane on the 110km/h stretch of road. The eldest of the group, a 35-year-old from Wollongong named as David Williams by the Seven Network, was dragged along by the truck which came to a halt 900m after impact, just after The Northern Road overpass. Inspector Rick Cox told AAP the man died instantly and sustained "horrendous injuries," adding to the trauma of the incident. "It appears he was dragged a distance along the roadway, as you can imagine with such a large vehicle," he said. The others were lucky to come out alive. A 25-year-old man of Edensor Park suffered a fractured vertebrae and internal injuries, while his sister, 20, sustained head injuries and an arm fracture. A third man, aged 23 from Bossley Park in Sydney's west, also fractured his arm. "When you consider the size of the B-double truck and the pushbikes, they were very lucky to get away they way they did," Inspector Cox said. "There was lot of debris. "Very horrific, probably one of the worst I have seen in my service. Their trip was a training exercise ahead of next month's Sydney to Surfers charity bike ride, which raises money for Youth Off the Streets, Seven reported. The survivors are now in a stable condition in Nepean Hospital, while the truck driver, a 27-year-old Glenmore Park man employed by South Penrith Sand and Soil, was ordered to undergo mandatory blood and urine tests. He was also treated for shock at the scene, Inspector Cox said. A motorist who saw the accident rang triple-zero, but crash investigators are still trying to piece together the moments before the 7.40am (AEST) smash and are appealing for witnesses to come forward. Inspector Cox said it is not known how long he had been behind the wheel. WorkCover NSW confirmed it was investigating whether fatigue was a factor. Robert and Monique (the two siblings mentioned, " 25-year-old man of Edensor Park suffered a fractured vertebrae and internal injuries, while his sister, 20, sustained head injuries and an arm fracture") are my cousins. all other details are very sketchy at the moment, all I know is Monique has bleeding on the brain (not sure about this, possibly swelling) among a broken shoulder, wrist and ankle, Robert's arm is broken ..this is all i know. It's been a frantic morning with my Uncle and Aunt , (their parents, who are out here on holiday) arranging flights back! (they've just left for the airport) Thank You Louis
  17. I've entered the sunday event, (working Sat-) you know it'll a be a great event because anything Rob Jackson does (eg Magalies Adventure) is always awesome!
  18. If this topic has been covered before, apologies for not finding it. I want a decent light for night riding, ...night riding that'll happen less then ten times a year, so i don't need the super best of the best, just something that'll work decently , like for the Nandos Magalies night stage for eg. what can you guys recommend?
  19. Got my Rydons from CWC yesterday firstly what service, those guys are super snappy and on the ball!! big up CWC won't get to use them for a while (injured) so as far as knowing how good they are, we'll see... thanks again all for the input!

  21. GREAT SHOES!! specially if you have wide feet. Battled a bit with Sidi's being Narrow. (nothing wrong with them, just a bit tight for me) Shimano= a good choice
  22. Hey Groentrui....this (your predicament) would throw me off the edge!!! my riding time is so precious to me (as I'm assuming yours is) TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!! There MUST be a number for the landlord at least??!! my LBS WestRand Cycles would NEVER do this! I realize Krugersdorp's not around the corner...however if you want to REALLY looked after, Eben or Shaun'll take care of you! L.T.G2009-12-24 14:47:15

I have the same issue, wide feet, and got a pair of Shimano SH300's http://www.fullcycles.com/images/shimano-sh-m300.jpg very comfy... bit bling for me with all the shiny bits...(was actually planning on a pair of nice black Sidi Dragons, but these were recommended to me by an Ex Pro who races with them) I can even ride with a Rocket Sock (I have a Fractured Malleolus) on no worries! Shimano!
