  1. race has been neutralised
  2. wasn't intentional from the taxi's point of view, first question would have to be just how much preparation was made along the route, were the people along the route including the taxi associations informed and/or included? 12:25, just just stopped again, 3rd time - this is the organisers fault entirely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. 26" ht
  4. Sounds like so much fun had, just paint me jealous. Better be pics up soon tho
  5. the bike shop employs people in order to assist customers and make sales, why then should the customer have to find a salesperson? How hard is it for a salesman to just say "be with you in a sec" if he's busy or ask if he can help? Well done for giving the manager a head's up though.
  6. Hey man. just got home and unpacked everything, crc totally rules, thanks for letting me piggy back your order As for your conversion, I've never tried but watch this, maybe it'll help... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRM7gq1fcoQ
  7. I hear what you saying, but if the tour actually rode their way down to the Cape, then the teams would follow the whole way, so it wouldn't make a difference from that point of view I don't think. And even if there was some flying, overseas teams in SA would be laughing when it came to costs since it would be so cheap for them to compete compared to other tours around the world. The other tours do it that way.
  8. 2 stages in joberg, 5 stages in the cape... why not 2 in joberg, 2 in kzn, 2 in cape town and 1 elsewhere? The tour de france manages to spread itself around, as does the tour of qatar, the giro as well as the tour downunder. I'm pretty sure if the tour was announced to only visit kzn and the cape, you joberg guys would complain, same with the cape guys if the cape wasn't included.
  9. it's the very first tour, they could have raced from joberg to cape town... it sux.
  10. I went to the website for the first time and realised that the entire middle part of the country apparently is not considered to be South Africa? How does that work, only Joberg and the Cape, how come KZN didn't get a stage at all?
  11. i gave my local lbs a chance to improve on their service, i ordered some stuff, told them there wasn't any rush, but just to keep me up to date. 2 months later not even a phone call, i had to go in to them to find out what's happening. crc took 2 weeks and half the price... no more lbs for me.
  12. I agree with leet22, buy somewhere else, but go into the shop and tell the manager why, maybe they just unaware that there's a problem?
  13. so i shouldn't have smoothed out those welds then... thank goodness I did "ride gently"
  14. I did on my old silverback frame, was easy to do. I'm not sure though where those welds carry their strength.. so when I ride that frame it's really gently and every bump has me holding my breath!
  15. i agree that powdercoaters have their good days and their bad days. fortunately it's really easy to fix: 1500g wet paper with sopay water, gently sand to get rid of the "shine", follow that by a rubbing compound, then finish with a polishing compound and wax... b e a u t i f u l!
  16. so gauteng ss'ers are sorted and the cape ss'ers are sorted. guess kzn need to sought themselves out here as well! so any takers for a kzn "coming of the zulu's" single speed extravaganza? Giba got some nice climbs
  17. ummm..... i'm confused, what race is when? i thought it was at rietvlei on the 2nd????? or has it changed?
  18. wow, wish i had your problem.
  19. When you finished sanding, take it to a powder coater and ask for it to be dipped, they'll charge about R50, that'll strip off the hard to reach places. As for spraying, you'll have to find someone who can sandblast with a light medium.
  20. didn't read the entire thread but if you going to powder coating then don't worry about sanding since they'll be dipped in a solution that'll strip it anyways. what you sanding with just out of interest?
  21. a nice and succinct post, to the point and relevant -
  22. just out of interest, the police will attend any accident scene that is reported, but you have to call the national emergency number, but attending an accident scene and investigating one is world's apart. Also understand that unless there is a death or serious injury, you're only reporting for statistical purposes from the SAPS point of view (and for insurance from your point of view). Reporting at a station, all you are doing is making an accident report and getting and AR number for insurance, that's all. If you planning on charging someone, then best you make sure you got photo's as well as the names and contact details of any witnesses. Unfortunately in South Africa the training new police recruits undergo is pathetic at best, and not going to get any better any time soon, so do not rely on them at all!!!!!!!!!!
  23. of course lay charges. doesn't matter if the cops don't do anything, worst case scenario is the driver lays charges against you for damaging the taxi. lay charges and then contact the taxi association and put a complaint in (in writing).
  24. I hear what you saying, but this stuff has always been around us, the only difference is that thanks to modern communication systems like cell's, the internet, tv etc we're all just a lot more aware of it than ever before.
