While I applaud your efforts Hairy, this seems like a lost battle. There is little to no response from the authorities, and even less action from Law enforcement. The Woodstock section from Church Street to the Observatory bridge is a joke. I think it's silly to even think that its a usable bike lane. (the other direction seems to be OK)

The wind at the start was not the only issue. Emergency services would have had their hands full on the Hout Bay side of Chappies, and then again down towards the 12 Apostles Hotel. The crosswinds there are something else. And that is if fires and protests did have any effect to the riders along the already shortened route

The fire in Hout Bay (a new one, not yesterday's one) is being fanned by this wind - 35 000 cyclists will cause chaos with emergency services and fire fighters trying to access the affected area

They have been struggling for years to get the combination right - from starting with Vets or Sub Vets or Masters, or on their own between mens' groups and alphabet soup. Every year had a new problem or controversy ranging from crashes at the finish to allegations of men pacing women from their club or team. Every year there were complaints from the racing women and moans from the armchair experts - there was no winning formula. I think this is the best idea yet. I hope it works as well as they hope. Lets see how it unfolds on the day.

So many opinions from the Men, when this is the Ladies race. The only people who are affected (and in a positive way) are these racing ladies.

I am waiting to build up a good run of Homeland episodes before I start watching that series. In the meantime, I will watch Timeless and Goliath. Has anyone watched Girls? (or will admit to watching it? )

This was the queue when I arrived @ 9:50 it was around the corner in the far distance after a short while. They open the gates at about 10:45 and then we walked around the field (jealous of the green grass) and then the registration and then missioned around to the expo. They weren't joking when they said wear comfortable shoes as its about a 1.5km walk.

i haven't looked at my goodie bag yet, but after standing outside for an hour, I couldn't wait to get out of there again. Expo itself was spread out for miles around the bowels of the stadium. Some cool stands, some empty ones.

I don't actually know what to say either. I have not met Tumbles, but am quite disturbed by this event and its consequences. If you dont mind P_S, I am going to echo your sentiments above.
