  1. Resurrecting this thread from last year A few silly questions: Some of our DC team have entered, so plan to ride together. How does seeding work? Do we get race numbers when we register on the morning ? Or do we use PPA numbers? Do we use our Racetec timing chips ? And then, what's the deal with CSA membership? Is that only for the race snakes or does everyone require a licence ? (Its clear that I haven't done an event in a while...) Thanks
  2. I have been watching this build-up with interest, so am very keen to see the whole journey unfold. What an adventure! Also keen to see more about her bike. I see that its a (titanium) Sling. Not sure if its a Tagati. Looks awesome
  3. Seems like they have done a bit of a 'soft launch' https://bikenetwork.co.za/review-pyga-tig/ Bike looks pretty awesome! I would like to see what the pricing looks like
  4. I think Phil Liggett would refer to that as 'The Elastic' 🤣
  5. There was an incident just past Simons Town on the weekend. I don't know details, just word of mouth from a friend of a friend. There was quite a group of cyclists at the scene along with emergency services, but they weren't sure if a car was involved. Hope it wasn't serious. Does anyone have any info ?
  6. As I finish typing that, they switch to the whittled down chase group and the gap is coming down. We have a race on our hands!
  7. The real action is in the chase group with the race for Bronze. Most of the camera work is of the font two, which is a bit boring.
  8. Huge chase bunch, but that gap isn't coming down! I suppose that the route too twisty for a roadie style group effort

  10. Looks like cyclocross (skinny tyres) with aero mods Correction: It's his Ultimate CFR with fat tyres You are right! https://cyclingtips.com/2022/10/mathieu-van-der-poel-is-racing-a-road-bike-at-gravel-worlds/
  11. https://cyclingtips.com/2022/10/preview-what-you-need-to-know-about-the-first-ever-gravel-worlds/ The men’s race comprises: 36% unpaved roads 18% hard gravel 1% cobbles 17% hard surface 27% asphalt 1% ?
  12. Apart from the ripples at the beginning, that is pan flat! That's going to be fast racing Aero rigs with big chainrings will be the order of the day Our SA gravel champs had 2400m climbing and the American events are crazy with their vert, so I find this quite strange.
  13. 2nd belly button
  14. And then, this guy come up and says, “Cycling is in much better shape now, the new generation are all clean” Not my joke - taken from Twitter https://road.cc/content/news/cycling-live-blog-27-september-2022-296189#live-blog-item-37783
  15. It seems that some of the footage is doing the rounds already. As expected, the parents are siding with their children. https://cyclingtips.com/2022/09/video-footage-emerges-of-van-der-poel-hotel-incident/
  16. I am glad that the journalist wasn't being dramatic or anything 'laid in wait for two teen girls before chasing them into their hotel room and launching a terrifying assault '
  17. Ja, I am struggling to believe that its gone from Common Assault to a slap on the wrist (and admission of guilt fine).
  18. Here we go: https://cyclingtips.com/2022/09/van-der-poel-fans-are-trying-to-tank-his-worlds-hotel-with-one-star-reviews/
  19. That's a lucky escape! Glad that's all you have to show for the incident. Wow!
  20. All I can see is a cap and some tyres
  21. This one has more of a platform than a 'bak' https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/commuter-bikes/505910/omnium-cargo-bike-10-speed-will-consider-offers
  22. 'cassette ph#ck' doesn't have quite the same ring to it...
  23. Entered ! This will be my 21st, so am hoping that this all goes according to plan and that its not detailed by wind, fires, riots, Covid, knee injuries etc.
  24. Yes, that's why they don't allow gravel bikes
  25. Dude! WTF ? You have barely recovered from the last fall. Be careful with that concussion. Its a real thing that you have to look after and recover properly from. It can haunt you for a while. Strongs
