  1. I don't think a PM is needed - it Dale
  2. That man should replace Zuma! But I digress, let me watch my dots
  3. I'm already staring at dots...
  4. This is so terribly sad.
  5. IF you are willing to wait 'till 4-6 weeks before the race there should be loads on entries available (even on here)
  6. Thanx for the feedback. I've always liked Oakley, but the recent designs just don't feel right when I run (feels fine on the bike). I'll have a look at the Rudy's
  7. I'm looking for some new running sunglasses. What do you use/recommend? (I can't remember if this was discussed on here before)
  8. Well done Pieter! What an awesome finish line
  9. I've always been a runner (more than a cyclist), so that questions is almost strange to me... I've always just got faster as fitness increases; but I can relate, because with cycling I can't do that, and have to really work on speed. As I get older, the 'speed' sessions I like: Short maximal hill repeats (10-15 x 80-100m), with a jog down for rest. Treadmill speed sessions. Lately I've been working on my 5k time. I run at 5-10s faster than 5k race pace, and see how long I can manage. Once I reach that, and can do it repeatedly, I up the speed a bit, or move to a longer distance. Boaring, I know, but easy to do late night at home
  10. Hi Mudsimus I'm glad it helped... Those little proprioception exercises are like magic. It helps to sort out body awareness so that the brain 'knows' what the body is doing - this al always messed up after an injury, and takes a long time to get sorted, unless you train it specifically
  11. Bike trail on Lake Champlain, Vermont, USA
  12. Those sounds like the most popular races - don't think you'll go wrong with them (weather dependent) The Comrades program should be updated soon.
  13. Final route checks in the Waterberg
  14. Never mind, I see the route changes on their site...
  15. Would they even be able to reverse the route? Won't that cause extended traffic issues?
  16. I'm with Barry - I eat what I normally eat: Oats/ProNutro with milk. I've never had any issues with what I eat. In my younger years I've had a McD meal before Comrades... (silly youth). Some people have issues with excessive dairy beforehand. O, and a Rehidrat. During the event, I just use (dink) whatever is at the water stations.
  17. I don't understand this hype around water points - in MTB and lately in running as well... Why? PS: almost thought it was the same lady that went on about the 2kg of plastic waste that each runner at OMTOM apparently discards
  18. Oky, that makes sense. Sounds like fascial 'tightness' What has worked for me, and thy I still (try) and do regularly: Foot massage, or 'rolling' for a kind of fascial release - similar to rolling on a foam roller for ITB etc. Strengthening up the foot muscles. Lifting toes upwards when doing calf stretches. Loads of balance/proprioception exercises - standing on 1foot/on toes when brushing teeth with eyes closed is an easy one
  19. Does it only affect you around the ankle (posterior to lateral malleolus), or does it also radiate further to the foot? Do you know if the tendon sublaxes as it passes the malleolus? In some people the tendon pops forward, and becomes more of an issue
  20. Agree... It just feels worst at these races, because there are so many people crammed into the space
  21. Couldn't agree more. Race starts have become a joke... On the shorter events I often find walkers, (even some with prams), starting at the front.I always start where I think I would finish, but the culture of running has changed, and become very egocentric. When I was still involved with organising runs, we ised to put signs up (similar to cycling), indicating the projected finish time/pace for that 'starting batch', which did help a bit... I guess organisers will have to come up with creative ways to manage this. All in, I agree with the change
  22. Agree, Techniblock or Piz Buin (the highest factor you can get) - also the airosol one. Edit: PS* just avoid the dischem techniblock knock off - its @@@
  23. I'm looking forward to some dot watching
