  1. I would prefer to have the confidence that I have run in them before hand and know they are fine (even though they would be...)
  2. I agree... BUT
  3. I'm just so damn unfit...!
  4. There is no easy answer. I hate if when people just say "it depends", but it does. What is your aim, or your idea of fitness? For health and quality of life, what you are doing is probably very close to perfect. If you want to progress to marathons and ultras, you will have to increase training volume (time) as well. And that increase in volume should be at lower intensities to allow sufficient adaptation without excessive overload. Just my 2c
  5. Ja, this cloud thing is not really viable in (South) Africa
  6. There is an alternative as well... Train just faster than race pace as far as you can. If you can't make race distance, you are not fit enough, so you rest completely (1 week +), and try again... I'm too old to try this, I'll just break!
  7. I agree with you... Most of us tend to do our easy sessions way too hard, and our hard sessions way too easy. So even though we feel tired, and train a lot, we don't get the benefits of the hard sessions, nor the recovery of the slow sessions...
  8. I've also been wondering
  9. Good idea. I wonder how many of these would be flying vs driving?
  10. I like the composition
  11. I just checked, OMTOM uses 88000lt of water for all the distances combined
  12. I would also be interested, but AFAIK the event does not use that much water
  13. That seems to be a trend lately... Pitty
  14. Couldn't agree more. To get into MTBing now is extremely expensive. I can't see how the average young rider would afford it
  15. Nice Skinny! ???? How far did you go with the full setup?
  16. I would agree with this. Both myself and the lady in my life would both like full caps - even though she still has enough pip coverage. The problems she always has is that the running caps are simply too big for her. She has never been able to get a cap small enough. She usually gets some stuff from the kiddies sections, but they are never running caps, so they are too thick and hot
  17. Hi Koos/Mike Sorry, haven't been on the hub for a while. All turns/intersections will be marked, but you will also be provided with the GPX files beforehand.
  18. Same plan here - if I don't break before I get there
  19. Entries closing 1 August
  20. Last time I wore nikes were Pegasus in the late 80's early 90's. They felt so weird because of the massively high heel. I never could get used to them, and have never looked at a pair of nikes again
  21. I've been holding out for a 935, but I don't know if I'll ever be able to convince myself to spend that much money on a gadget
  22. I've been using Asics (mostly the GT ranges) for ages, but want to change things a bit. I eventually want to have 3-4 paires of shoes (different brands if possible), to mix during a week. Any suggestions for higher milage running that is similar to the Asics? NB/Adidas/Saucony/etc. Any suggestions would be great, and will chat to running shop as well
  23. This is a very cool little video. I would love to use it on some of the more scenic runs. Can one download and save the video, or is it only for online watching?
  24. I'm also keen. I'll flip a coin on the 1st, and take it from there
