Former Giro d'Italia winner Danilo Di Luca tested positive for EPO in a surprise test at his home before this year's race, organisers announced on Friday. If confirmed in a backup "B" sample, Di Luca risks a lifetime ban since this is his third offense. The 37-year-old Italian rides for the Vini Fantini squad. The test was carried out April 29, five days before the Giro started, and the result drew a harsh rebuke from Vini Fantini team director Luca Scinto. "Di Luca is an idiot. I never wanted him," Scinto said. "Di Luca is sick. He needs to be helped." The race ends Sunday and Di Luca stands 26th overall, 33 minutes, 33 seconds behind overall leader Vincenzo Nibali. In 2009, Di Luca was given a two-year ban after testing positive during the Giro for CERA, an advanced form of the blood booster EPO. That ban was subsequently reduced by nine months after he collaborated with Italian anti-doping authorities. And after winning the 2007 Giro, Di Luca was banned for three months later in the year for frequent visits to Carlo Santuccione, a physician at the centre of a four-year doping investigation. Seemingly headed for retirement just a few months ago, Di Luca signed with Vini Fantini just a few days before the surprise test. He has fared well in several stages, finishing third in the seventh leg, seventh in stage 9, sixth in stage 11 and 10th in Thursday's uphill time trial. It's the second doping case from this year's race, after French rider Sylvain Georges tested positive for the banned stimulant Heptaminol in a urine sample after the seventh stage. The 28-year-old AG2R La Mondiale rider was immediately withdrawn from the race. This must surely be a lifetime ban, I mean 3 times. Come on!!

That these guys were doping? After watching last years clean(er) Tour, its amazing looking back at the difference in the climbing pace. Just watched this clip of the tour in 2003. South African roads are a bit of a joke. Everybody has an axe to grind with every other road user... Aaaah, look at these cyclists riding 3 abreast.... Aaaah, look at the asshole in the car cutting off the cyclists. Cyclists hate cars. Cars hate cyclists. Motorcyclists speed too often... Bla. Bla. Bla. But you know what? I guarantee that every person reading this, and every hater out there has broken a road law in the last year. No? Have you done 60 or less in every 60 zone? Have you not been over the limit once? (Bearing in mind the limit is 1 beer, I believe). Until you can be honest and say you don't break any road laws, that's when the road carnage will drop, cyclists cycle safely etc. it starts with each individual. The law is the law. P.S. I don't pretend to be innocent in all of this, I am as guilty as the next guy. I just think our perception of breaking the road laws needs a change.

A mate has got a bike for sale. I would just like some advice as to what these bikes fetch, as I have seen a huge difference in price on exactly this model. It is a Raleigh RC7000 with carbon fork and rear stays. Full Ultegra and Fulcrum Racing 3 wheels. Not sure of the year, I would hazard a guess at maybe 2009 or 2010? Any ideas on what he should be asking?

It actually is a fairly busy road, and cars come the other way at very high speeds. It is dangerous riding, simple as that...

Why do I need to do that? If they rode like they should be riding (like as far left as possible) then I wouldn't have to. I mean big bloke centre pic is not even riding 2 abreast, but still feels the need to ride centre lane. It because of habits like this that cause animosity between cars and bicycles.

This was West Park road this morning. Look at where you need to place your car to actually overtake. Seriously? Well done.
