  1. Frail at Registration this afternoon, getting to know the locals. David.pdf
  2. FOUND! He managed to get lost in Louis Trichardt!
  3. Where the Heck are you? Da Missus is looking for you, and has a bed for you to crash in.
  4. FRAIl is still underway 150km short of his destination , Louis Trichardt at 8pm. Lad sleep over in Polokwane, get there fresh in the morning. What a ride!
  5. I think its time to send in the Cavalry.
  6. Frail looking good with his pack , looks like outside a Fish and Chip. Getting fuel no doubt
  7. Cycling enthusiast David Kleynhans will be riding the Kremetart this year for the second time ; he did a few years ago in 2004 . David does the Kremetart somewhat differently from most other riders, he will ride from his home to the event , ride the event and ride back home again after the event. Many of our local riders will do the same, but David does not live in Louis Trichardt or even one of our neighbouring towns. What makes David’s Kremetart different is he that lives in Cape town . He will ride from Cape town to Louis Trichardt in 7 Days, rest in Louis Trichardt on Friday 3rd June , ride the Kremetart on Saturday and set off for Cape town on Sunday morning , planning to arrive in Cape town on Saturday 11th June. The total distance of his epic journey will be 4000 km in a period just 16 days . In the average riding day he will cover 270km and his longest distance covered in a day will be in the Karoo from Winburg to Colesburg a distance of 330km – tackling it in both directions. His easiest day’s riding will actually be the Kremetart One day Stage Race itself, only 175km ! David devotes a lot of time and effort in raising funds for charity , specifically for the aged. This ride will be dedicated to raising funds for our Louis Trichardt old aged home “ Ons Tuiste” His previous Fund raising rides include completing the Argus Tour three times in a single day during the 2004 Argus, and four times during this year’s Argus – an amazing 440km during a single day. To cyclists who frequent the online cycling forum The Hub www.thehubsa.co.za David is a well known figure who uses the Hub name of ‘F_R_A_I_L’ as he pesters them for donations and support for his ventures. Once again he has asked cyclists to support him and they have responded by coming to the fore in supporting him. On the way he will act as a “Postie” delivering postcards for forum members, and members have taken raffle tickets and sponsorships for him. He will be accommodated overnight by cyclists along the way, and spend the week-end in Louis Trichardt with a family of cyclists. If you are traveling and see a lonely figure on a bike, give him a toot or stop for a chat , and if you want to help David in his venture and fund raisings you can contact him on Cell +27 71 406 7007 , Face book FRAIL.Cycling or Twitter F_R_A_I_L The Louis Trichardt old aged Home “Ons Tuiste” needs his and your support.
  8. So it looks like it's not a question of 26" or 29" 24" is what gets the job done.
  9. The CoCo lodge in Bakavu at least warns you at the entrance what to exoect. In the event the wait was just right, enough time for two slow beers before the food arrived.
  10. This Mavic kit has a adapter for Schrader holes and lots of O rings to seal it.
  11. Don't try to e-mail those pictures!
  12. The important question for you is "Have you tried it and does it agree with you?" It you have not tried it in training don't risk your race.
  13. Don't try anything that you do not usually have most days unless you fancy an uposet stomach. I usually have raw oats & Pronuto with milk. May just have a bit more on race day just before I leave the house, which would be ideally be about 1 1/2 hrs before the start.
  14. Ive been running the Dry2 tubeless, on two sets. Given good service only changed them when the tread was well worn. Ive had zero sidewall cuts and the gunge sealed the thorns and a hoof nail without problems. I used them as I seldom go out into the forest when its wet as the ground is red clay and soon it packs so thick onto your tyres that the wheel cannot turn. So for dry road they were fine at at R 135.00 for a superlight a tubeless tyre they were a bargain.
  15. I am sure that Louis Trichardt's award winning community paper the Zoutpansberger will give you plenty of coverage if you write a good report and send it to them. Send a story to the editor Andries van Zyl "Andries At zoutnet.co.za" Even better if you can hand over something to a home while you are there they will send someone around and put a photo of the handover in the paper.
  16. There are several old people in the LTT old age homes who because of Home Affairs snafu's have not recieved their pensions which go to the cost of their keep. Any donations are welcolm to help with the shortfall.
  17. Thanks for volunteering me lad! But as Frail said that problem was already sorted a bit earlier.
  18. 14 weeks is not a long time to train. It takes about 18 months of regular 4+ days a week riding to develop the muscles needed. Ride often , ride lots, and although the hills will never get any easier you will go up them faster
  19. Any hill with a name is to be respected. That little bugger on the last stage is called "Otto's Hoogte" . I ridden it a few thousand times both ways over the last 25 years. It just does not get any easier.
  20. 1. R7500 X 0.154 + R 25 2. 5 to 15 days
  21. Frail, I assume you are riding to the race and back again, as you have before. Why not detour via PE and pick up SirK? just a thought..
  22. The local paper has a story on the effects of the race. http://www.zoutnet.co.za/details.asp?StoNum=9034
  23. I understand you reluctance to name the shop now, but Once you have your bike back, (or if it mysteriously disappears from the shop over the week-end) please name and shame loudly.
  24. This will probably do it for R 50 http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=19135
  25. Bottom lx slx, xt , XTR top
