  1. I'm not concerned about the coffee or smoothie, but the free gym membership, flights etc are quite worth it. Also at this moment I drop my friends which makes me feel a bit uncomfortable. Anyway, my wife is now battling with them. She has more patients than I have.
  2. Well I certainly get more back from Vitality, than what I'm paying every month and I don't utilize it to its full potential. We're on Diamond status. Active rewards is mess- I can't get strave or any other device linked and the service from Vitality in this regard is pathetic. My friends- whom I convinced to join and befriend us- are achieving their weekly goals and I'm reason why everyone can't get their rewards. The irony is that of the 4 of us, I'm probably the one who get the most points, or should get the most points once my strava and polar is connected. Other than the above I get plenty back, also on my Life policy. Disco is working just fine (except for active rewards)
  3. Good news. Please keep it this way. I'm entitled to a wind- and fire free aurgist (lol)
  4. I'm about to give up on this active rewards thing. I cant get to connect my strava. send them an email and got a reply back 2 weeks later to say I must connect through Chrome. Did that but it gives me the same error. send them another email last week- still no reply. Tried to phone them on 2 occasions- the one time I hold on for 33mins and the other for 41 mins- I kid you not. The service that I get from Tshwane Municipality are better than theirs.
  5. I visit a client of mine yesterday who's husband died last year. He did had life insurance that paid out to her, but not enough. They used to live a comfortable life, not luxurious but comfortable. she now struggles to get through per month- They thought they were ok. I don't know your situation but I would advise you (and everyone else) to do a proper financial planning and get your stuff in order. After I visited the client I immediately phoned my FA so that we can meet and update my stuff. I don't want my wife and kids to go through what this lady is going through at the moment. Myles obviously knows his stuff, so speak to him.
  6. I'm one of those who didn't do much of an effort on all these loyalty programmes, but was quite surprised when I received some lekke cash back in my disco account for clothes I bought at Cape Union. I didn't buy there for the cash back, but more for the clothes. I also booked my flight for the CTCT last week for me and my wife and after Vitality discount (Diamond status) and disco miles, we only paid R 610.00 for a return trip for 2. Not to shabby hay. We will definably make the effort to understand it more to get the full value out of it.
  7. My Strava also doesn't want to link. Deleted both Strava and Vitality apps and then tried to link again but no success. I've e-mailed them last week Wednesday, but no reply yet.
  8. I struggle to link my Strava app to the discovery app. I get this error- {“code”:403,”message”:”forbidden”,”errors”:”bad request”} Does anyone else also get this error? If so, what should I do? I did send Vitality an e-mail and still wait for them to contact me.
  9. I'm not an expert on nutrition or training, but from my personal experience I can tell you that after 3 months on LCHF I still couldn't train at high intensity levels. I could ride for longer in a fasted state and without any bars or food during the ride, but the moment I wanted to up the tempo, I bonked. The weight loss was significant though. After I start to take wholefood carbs and energy drinks (long hard rides only), I was able to maintain HIT and my performance on the bike and fitness level improve drastically. I guess it depends on your goal for Ironman and your current fitness levels, but I won't attempt it with only 4 months of training.
  10. I think they're only at CTCT and 94.7. They've send us an invite to which we had to rsvp. When we entered the hospitality area they check if we are on the list. I don't know what happens if you are not on the list. at this years CTCT they also had an event on the Friday and group ride on Saturday followed by a breakfast. since we were their with our non vitality friends we only visited their hospitality area after the race and didn't do the group ride and breakfast thing. We will definitely do it next year. Looks like our buddies will join them and cancel multiply.
  11. I don't know how you could have missed it. You missed out btw. We had a beer and burger with our non-vitality friends (soon to be Vitality friends) in the public area and then went to Vitality area for a massage, toebie and milkshake. We immediately got helped at the massage tables (no queue)and there were fans as well. Our friends waited more than 30 mins to get there massage. Looking forward to the Argus. (sorry CTCT)
  12. Discovery is definitely raising the bar. Myles, would you then suggest I wait till January to book my flight for CTCT? I've just now quickly scan through all the posts on both threads and will read through the files you attached tonight. Thanks for your time to answer all the questions.
  13. From what I could determine is that the majority of banters do LCHF during the week and on weekend rides or races they add carbs. I myself struggled to get oemf for HIIT and for group rides at tempo. Low intensity/ very short interval training (20min max) and long slow rides, I could do on LCHF, but the moment I increased the tempo I suffered big time- this was even after 4 months of banting. I started to take a banana and apple juice for HIIT sessions and an energy bar and drink for weekend rides. For really long and hard rides and races I'll have muesli or oats before. I don't do any carbo loading prior to a race and during the week I will remain LCHF. I do however eat sweet patato and fruit the day prior to a race- that is the most carbo loading I do. I do ride and race with far less gels and drinks than I used to. My times definitely improved, but that is due to the 17kg I've dropped sofar and the hard training. I still experiment with nutrition to find out what is working the best for me.
  14. But do Multiply have a tent at the venue wit free samies, chocolate milk etc, not to speak of the comfortable chairs, fan and "no-queue" massage? Myles, can someone join vitality if they have no other products with Discovery? My friends who are currently with Mutiply want to join vitality.
  15. This definitely works. I got stuck on 95- 96KG and just couldn't get below 95. (coming from 110kg) A friend told me about fasting and I fasted a whole day(actually 36h- last meal was sunday at around 19h00 with coffee at 22h00 and then breakfast at Tuesday around 10h00). Only had black coffee and green tea. This was 2 weeks ago and currently I am on 92,5 kg. It is not as tough as you think it will be.
  16. Well it works. No chance that you will see me on a MTB soon.
  17. I'm not necessarily a Spez fan. I had a Trek madone (only bought because of the nice colours and it was on a special) and loved it. After an incident I got a great deal on the Hub for a 2nd hand S-Works Venge. The only reason I bought it was because of the colour scheme. Obviously I did some homework and everybody advised me that this is a great bike and the price was a steal. So-far I'm not disappointed and loving it more and more. One thing is for sure, it is definitely faster than the Madone. Now for the spez shirts, Bib, shoes, etc however, one day when I'm big and my bond is paid of, I will get myself and the missus a Pinarello
  18. hehe, unfortunately it's still a blixem. Maybe we should get Chuck Norris to flatten it for us. lol
  19. I did the whole route on Saturday, and the road looked pretty decent. There are some sections where the shoulder is quite eroded and rather high, so I would advise to rather stay in the middle or right-hand side of the bunch. Just make sure that when you come over hekpoort, you are with a bunch. There WILL be a headwind. I can't remember riding that road without a headwind. Saturday was no exception.
  20. This was at the previous venue. I also read the reviews (on Bicycling.co.za I think) and all were bad. The complaints ranged from safety to ablution facilities, parking etc. etc. I know that road alongside Pelindaba well and it is a *** stretch of road. Since the venue was changed, things seems to be sorted out. I only heard positive reviews about last years race and that's why I decided to it this year. Looking forward.
  21. Well congrats on the baby. I hope you get an entry with the 2nd round or substitution.
  22. Although it is a lottery based system, there is a weighing model build into it. The more tours and other seeded events you did, the better your chances of getting an entry. Everybody I know were successful. Everyone rode the last 5-7 years and one oke 11. Everyone also entered as a group (husband and wife), so I would think if you entered as a group that would also increase your chances. Likewise I think that if you entered and didn't pitched, that you would get "penalised". It only seems fair. There is someone that would have love to rode in your place. I understand in your particular case it was beyond your control, but to mane people just don't pitched for simple reasons.
  23. Application successful, thank you very much. So this system works after all .. hehe
